Sigh..not again!!!

I don't know what's worse. To sit here and be able to say that I got knocked out of yesterday's tournament with yet another bad beat or to tell you all the truth, which is that I never set foot on the second floor tourney area of Commerce yesterday. So you know how I had all those errands to run before the tournament, right? Well, didn't get much done where that's concerned either, but all I know was that when the 3:30 start time for the tournament rolled around, my butt was still nowhere near Commerce. I was really looking forward to playing yesterday's event, and was kinda disappointed that I didn't make it out there in time, to make matters worse, when I finally showed up at around 8:00 P.M., I got a pretty retarded beat in one of the first couple of hands I played in in the no limit cash game. Which really set a nasty little tone for how things would be going for the rest of the night. It got to a point where I didn't feel as though I could play optimally in the no limit game, because I was starting to get impatient and wanted to exact some kind of revenge on those bad beaters (muhahahah), so I jumped into a limit game to kind of give myself a break.

The worst beat of the night is that I saw halibut at the tables (see 'Another Day in the Life' blog) and was desperately trying to get in his game, but the no limit games were "must-moves", which for some of you who may not be familiar with that, is the way players are shifted in the order they sat down from newer games, to the main games. Seeing as how lucky I am in these matters, I happened to sit down 9-10 people after him, so every time they moved him to the next table, I was just moving to the table he just moved out of!! Didn't catch me some halibut this time, but I have a feeling the waters are warm enough for him to stick around for a while.

Not playing today's tournament, which is pot limit hold 'em, because I feel relatively inexperienced with the little nuances of pot limit that differ or sometimes don't even exist in the no limit style of play. Many professionals whose opinion and expertise I respect have often told me that they believe there is more skill in pot limit hold 'em than in no limit, and that they actually prefer it to no limit. I definately want to become more skilled in all forms of the game, so I am hoping to learn more about these differences in the near future, and maybe play me a pot limit tournament or two real soon.

Going out to the Commerce later on tonight (after I run those errands that I didn't get to yesterday) , and see if I can't cash in on these cash games, especially in these action-packed couple of weeks that are left of the LAPC. Not sure where I will be after this circuit, maybe return to the site of my first $10,000 event, Harrah's Rincon WSOP Circuit Event, or go up to the bay area for some Shooting Stars.

Here is a pic from Aruba earlier last year of me, Phil Hellmuth, and John Phan from the top of Phil's penthouse party at the Radisson. Don't forget to check out John's kick ass new website, www.johntherazorphan.com! Thanks and hi to John Vorhaus who took this picture!

Phil is holding my best friend Dom (Perignon) of course!
