Tuan Le took out two players the last hand of the day with pocket 9's. Bo Stelstedt only had pocket Kings, nothing serious. Mark Rose went all-in with his short stack of about 300k in the cutoff seat with A K offsuit. Bo raised all-in for another 500k more with his Scandanavian cowboys on the button. Tuen Le in the big blind, took several minutes to decide if Stelstedt was just trying to get heads up against Rose. He also had to be concerned about Michael Mizrachi who'd bet out under the gun with pocket 2's. Tuan finally called and Michael mucked. The flop came J J 9 for a full house. 17 players will start tomorrow. The chip counts will come out soon. Most of them will be close to the ones at the last break except for the players were were eliminated. Tuen Le has 3.7 million 3.8 for Ivey. 7:35 How did Hasan Habib lose 2 million in chips so quickly? He tried to bully the table and donated to everyone when his obviously substandard hands were called down. How did Phil Ivey get his last million? He took most of them from the new tournament player John Smith. 7:25 The Highwayman's day ended with A Q when he got paved by Tuan Le's K K. We thought John Smith caught a lot of cards until he ran under the steamroller of Tuan Le. The payout for 16-20 is the same, $75,485. John Smith spoke for himself in 20th. One more to go tonight. 7:15 Last break of the day. We will either get through the next 90 minutes and quit or two players will be knocked out. The ante is 4k. The blinds are 15k/30k. Chip counts: Paul Testud 48 1 200k John Phan 48 2 1.5m Paul Maxfield 48 4 850k Joseph Cordi 48 6 900k Rob Hollink 48 7 1.3m Tony Ma 48 8 300k David Sklansky 48 9 180k Mark Rose 52 1 350k John Smith 52 3 700k Bo Sehlstedt 52 4 850k Phil Ivey 52 6 3.8m Tuan Le 52 7 1.6m Chris Ferguson 52 8 1.4m Michael Mizrachi 52 9 1.7m Joe Beevers 53 1 1.1m George Miller 53 2 700k Jeff Shulman 53 4 650k Hasan Habib 53 5 3.0m Juha Helppi 53 7 850k Sam Arzoin 53 9 700k 6:55 Jeff Shulman just doubled up against Hasan Habib with A 10 in the big blind and a 10 on the flop against Hasan's A Q raise under the gun. Jeff is still one of the short stacks with two to eliminate today before stopping. Jeff's all-in bet was 235k. The shortest three, in trouble, are Paul Testud, Tony Ma and David Sklansky. 6:35 Dewey Tomko has finished second twice in the World Series of Poker championship. Both times he should have won it with pocket Aces. One thing we know about Tomko, he has patience. But without chips, patience gets called. Dewey went all-in with A K. The flying Dutchman, Rob Hollink had Q 8 suited and didn't needed the second Queen that came. The first was enough. Dewey was 22nd. Just now, Hasan Habib won a 2.5 million pot knocking out the Reno winner Arnold Spee with pocket 3's and a set on the flop. George Miller was also crippled on the hand. Both Miller and Spee had A J. Both flopped a pair of Aces. Miller was able to get off the hand. Arnold was 21st. Hasan Habib was second to Martin deKnijff last year. He now takes a substantial chip lead over Phil Ivey. Habib has about 5 million. 6:25 Tom Clark is correct in criticizing my reporting today. I am alone. Card Player has 10 people in this room reporting. 6:15 Matt Keikoan lost most of his chip to pocket Aces held by George Miller. When Matt made his last move, it wasn't for enough to stop a call by Hasan Habib in the big blind with 8 3. Matt had K Q and made K's and Q's. Should have been plenty, yes? Hasan made a pair on the flop and trip 3's on the river. Keikoan was 23rd. The average stack now is over 1 million, so the 12k/24k blinds shouldn't scare any but the shortest stack. 5:55 One of the unknowns, George Miller, "is unbluffable," David Plastik said. David played at the same table with George for several hours. "He's creative," David said. George is on a major freeroll. He won a cheap satellite to get into a $2,500. Victor Ramdin got sucked in by slow played pocket Aces held by Tuan Le. Ramdin won a $50,000 bet yesterday from someone who said he couldn't last until today. So Ramdin netted over $75,000 for the event in 24th. 5:35 David Williams just went out from the button with his last 200k an 8 5 off. Matt Keikoan found A J in the big blind. David Williams lasted longer than Greg Raymer in 25th, but neither of them got close to their last mutal paydays of $7.5 million at last year's WSOP. The third break is almost over. Next level is 3k ante, 12k/24k blinds. Chip counts: Paul Testud 48 1 450k John Phan 48 2 600k Jeff Shulman 48 3 400k Paul Maxfield 48 4 800k Dewey Tomko 48 5 300k Joseph Cordi 48 6 1.2m Rob Hollink 48 7 250k Tony Ma 48 8 800k David Sklansky 48 9 450k Mark Rose 52 1 400k Victor Ramdin 52 2 500k John Smith 52 3 1.5m Bo Sehlstedt 52 4 650k Phil Ivey 52 6 2.7m Tuan Le 52 7 1.3m Chris Ferguson 52 8 1.6m Michael Mizrachi 52 9 1.5m Joe Beevers 53 1 900k George Miller 53 2 1.3m Arnold Spee 53 3 1.4m Hasan Habib 53 5 1.3m David Williams 53 6 200k Juha Helppi 53 7 850k Matt Keikoan 53 8 250k Sam Arzoin 53 9 650k 4:55 The first guy to one million, Reza Payvar, went in the other direction today. Payvar gets paid for 26th. I'm sure he is disappointed, but shouldn't be. This is a tough field. When Reza went all-in for his last 200k or so, Juha Helppi beat him into the pot with A K. 4:45 The man who built the Stratosphere (and went broke doing it) and ran for Mayor of Las Vegas, one of the great charaters of poker, is out in 27th. The Polish Prince, Bob Stupak. 4:15 Paul Testud 48 1 John Phan 48 2 Jeff Shulman 48 3 Paul Maxfield 48 4 Dewey Tomko 48 5 Joseph Cordi 48 6 Rob Hollink 48 7 Tony Ma 48 8 David Sklansky 48 9 Mark Rose 52 1 Victor Ramdin 52 2 John Smith 52 3 Bo Sehlstedt 52 4 Bob Stupak 52 5 Phil Ivey 52 6 Tuan Le 52 7 Chris Ferguson 52 8 Michael Mizrachi 52 9 Joe Beevers 53 1 George Miller 53 2 Arnold Spee 53 3 Reza Payvar 53 4 Hasan Habib 53 5 David Williams 53 6 Juha Helppi 53 7 Matt Keikoan 53 8 Sam Arzoin 53 9 4:05 What were the chances that David Williams wouldn't be the next one out? Pretty slim, I'd think. But David doubled up twice to over 200k. The first with Q 6 vs King high from Mark Rose. Then with pocket 2's against Reza Payvar's K 10. Then the real Gavin, Gavin Smith finished 30th when his Ace was outkicked by Tuan Le. 29 Keith Carter by Phil Ivey And my personal favorite, Isabelle Mercier in 28th. (You didn't read that, I don't have favorite players). Isabelle 'No Mercy' Mercier played so well with no chips. She went all-in with A 6 and was called by Jeff Shulman with K 8. The 8 on the flop, again, beat the higher hand. Sorry, mom. They are redrawing to three tables. 3:35 3k ante, 10k/20k blinds The David Williams chip count is NOT a misprint. Chip counts at the break: Jeff Shulman 48 2 300 k Juha Helppi 48 3 700 k Isabelle Mercier 48 4 150 k Paul Testud 48 5 700 k Arnold Spee 48 6 1.6 m Victor Ramdin 48 7 1.1 m Rob Hollink 48 8 550 k Matt Keikoan 48 9 1.1 m Tony Ma 49 2 700 k Joseph Cordi 49 3 850 k Mark Rose 49 4 500 k Hasan Habib 49 5 600 k John Phan 49 6 350 k David Williams 49 7 40 k Reza Payvar 49 9 650 k Bo Sehlstedt 52 1 650 k Gavin Smith 52 2 270 k George Miller 52 3 900 k Tuan Le 52 4 1.1 m Joe Beevers 52 5 1.1 m Bob Stupak 52 8 550 k Michael Mizrachi 52 9 1.7 m Dewey Tomko 53 1 170 k Chris Ferguson 53 2 1.0 m David Sklansky 53 3 700 k Sam Arzoin 53 5 500 k Phil Ivey 53 6 1.1 m John Smith 53 7 1.9 m Keith Carter 53 8 650 k Paul Maxfield 53 9 650 k 3:25 One of the GENERATION 20 money leaders, Alex Prendes, was short stacked and he didn't make it to the break in 31st. He also didn't make it to the pay raise that 21-30th place gets: $56,615. "George of the jungle put him out," Gavin Smith said speaking of the redhot George Miller. 3:15 Still 31 left with the second level today about to end. Chip counts at the break. John Smith is the mystery man in this event. He's the chip leader that no one ever heard of. "I'm a highway contractor," he told me. Highwayman more likely! He's destroying one of the best fields ever. "I just started playing tournament poker a year ago." That's why we don't know him. "That's my real name." Another likely story. "And I'm having fun." That, I believe. Thanks for the interview, John. 2:55 Just to continue catching up. The ante is 2k, the blinds 8k/16k. We are playing down to 18 "probably" tonight. The TV six tomorrow. We did it again, amazingly. One woman, one former WSOP champ still in. I'll get to some emails next. 2:45 Greg Raymer only had about 300k left. About as much as Victor Ramdin. Greg didn't need his funny glasses to see Ramdin river his all-in with pocket 9's. Victor was victorious with A K and the dreaded button to the heart of the ex-champ. Greg finished 32 places lower in the WPT than he did in the WSOP for about $5 million less. Isabelle Mercier wanted me to tell her mom that she no longer has the peanut stack she had at the break. She's up to 320k. Nick Hanna was so short Michael Mizrachi put him out with a K 8 and a flopped 8 for 32nd. Earlier and not posted here, unfortuanately: 34 David Wells 35 Stuart 'The Donator' Paterson David Williams is being tortured for a loss of about 700k. 2:35 I've been testing Murphy's Law today. It's valid. Everything that can go wrong, will go wrong. These were the tables and chip counts at the break. Lots has happened since. Hang in there. I'm trying to. Greg Raymer 48 1 350 k 33 Jeff Shulman 48 2 450 k Juha Helppi 48 3 550 k Isabelle Mercier 48 4 100 k Paul Testud 48 5 1.2 m Arnold Spee 48 6 1.3 m Annand Ramdin 48 7 350 k Rob Hollink 48 8 700 k Matt Keikoan 48 9 1.1 m Bo Sehlstedt 49 1 650 k Tony Ma 49 2 500 k Joseph Cordi 49 3 650 k Mark Rose 49 4 300 k Hasan Habib 49 5 400 k John Phan 49 6 350 k David Williams 49 7 900 k Reza Payvar 49 9 1.2 m Nick Hanna 52 1 180 k 32 George Miller 52 3 350 k Gavin Smith 52 3 370 k Tuan Le 52 4 1.1 m Joe Beevers 52 5 1.2 m Alex Prendes 52 7 700 k Bob Stupak 52 8 550 k Michael Mizrachi 52 9 1.3 m Dewey Tomko 53 1 270 k Chris Ferguson 53 2 1.1 m David Sklansky 53 3 270 k Sam Arzoin 53 5 320 k Phil Ivey 53 6 1.3 m John Smith 53 7 1.8 m Keith Carter 53 8 900 k Paul Maxfield 53 9 750 k 1:35 The flopped set is the silent assassin. There isn't usually a jinx for the third day chip leader, but the Red Sox won the World Series so ANYTHING can happen. Alan Boston had A K. Arnold Spee had pocket 9's. The came with a King and a 9. Ouch. Alan Boston shoved about 300k into Arnold 'The Governators' pot when the set held up. Then it happened again a few minutes later. This time David Williams had pocket 5's and flopped another 5. Safieddine had Q 9 on a flop of K Q 5. He was short stacked and shipped it all to Williams. They've redraw to four tables and are taking the first level break. 36 Francoise Safieddine 37 Alan Boston 38 Brad Wyatt 1:15 I'm online for questions: MikePaulle@PokerPages.com $47,180 39 Peter Costa
