48hrs ago ARCADIA was just a DURAN DURAN side project . Now it is my temporary home ,
as I prepare myself for a month at the .COMMERCE
Looking at yesterdays results a few familiar names are appearing on the money list .A Reatgui ,
Max Pescatori , Eric Firestone , Chris McCormack + Morgan Machina all cashed in the shootout .

A fifteen minute walk through the many restaurants on Huntington Ave brought me to Santa Anita
racecourse . I was an avid racegoer in Europe and I felt the urge to visit one of the premier tracks in
America . My only other experience here , in America , was at Canterbury MN .

I debated whether I would be allowed to use my camera but should not have worried as the track
has a very laid back approach on a weekday . The whole burb of Arcadia is so polite especially
since I live in Vegas which is the opposite .

	and they're off

I paddock picked a couple of winners including one horse which had been off track for almost a year .
Then Max Pescatori , the final table champ , called and tipped me a winner . My good luck turned bad
when I dropped my winning ticket on the floor . As it was after the seventh race the floor was littered
with losing tickets . Just when I assumed someone had picked it up it appeared all by itself in a corner .

	Winner !!!

The mountain backdrop make this a very scenic track . I had a very relaxing and marginally profitable
afternoon .

	Scenic Santa Anita

Today I visited Pasadena , home of the Rose Bowl . A little less pristine than Arcadia but with two
used cd stores , many non Starbucks coffee shops , a couple of thrift stores and a Whole Foods
more interesting than the Stepford Wifes like Arcadia .
I also had lunch in a British Pub . The owner is from Liverpool , the food very authentic and service
friendly .

I visit the Commerce on Saturday for coverage of the Ladies Event ( surprise surprise ) . Hopefully
Liz Lieu , who couldn't pick me a winner at Santa Anita , will be feeling better in time to play .She has
a flu virus . Get well soon .
