$5,000+$150 No Limit Hold'em Championship from the Beau Rivage in Biloxi

August is already out the door and September only means the South is even deeper into hurricane season... and just days away from the Gulf Coast Poker Championship.

The Beau Rivage was forced to close last year's GCPC mid-schedule due to Hurricane Gustav.  To help rebound, they're bringing in Team PokerStars Pro's first couple Vanessa Rousso and Chad Brown to serve as hosts for the 12-day, 15-event series.  "Lady Maverick" even signed on to host her instructional workshop, 'Big Slick Boot Camp', on Sept. 11th.

The first cards get into the air on Sept. 4th. Event #14, the $5,000 buy-in Main Event, will play out over three grueling days beginning on Sept. 12th. In addition to the prize money, the eventual winner will also earn a seat in the $10,000 WPT Southern Poker Championship, which will take place at the Beau Rivage in Jan. of 2010.

Back in 2007, the last time there was a big buy-in Main Event, it was a $10,000 WPT stop.  Then, 256 forked over the $10K, creating a juicy $2,463,200 prize pool.  This year's hosts, Rousso and Brown, bowed out of the 2007 Main Event in 17th and 23rd, respectively.  In the end it was Bill Edler, fresh off an impressive 2007 WSOP that saw him capture his first bracelet and a Main Event run that ended just short of the final two tables, who would chock up his first WPT win and just under $750,000.
