Monday, 29th of June 2009 06:00 PM (Jackie Witt Reporting) It is hard to believe that we are getting into the last events offered at the WSOP this year. Today marks the beginning of Event 55 which is the $2,500 Limit Dues to Seven Triple Draw Lowball tournament. This is not a widely known game, but it is starting to gain more popularity in recent years. The name of the game is low 2-7. Players get five cards, and have three chances to discard to get the lowest hand without a straight; ace is high. The nuts in this game is 2-3-4-5-7. There are a number of pro players lining the field today. Some of the names seen so far are Thor Hansen, Steve Zolotow, Robert Mizrachi, Nikolay Evdakov, Bill Chen, Shannon Elizabeth, Steve Sung, Mike Sexton, and David Skansky. There is sure to be more notable players showing up as the tournament proceeds. While a massive group of hopefuls take to the felt in the other event kicking off today, a $1,500 No Limit Hold'em tournament, this group is likely to be smaller and more recognizable due to the game being played. Deuce to Seven Triple Draw Lowball (Limit) isn't the game of choice of every poker player out there, but it is a popular offering for the pros. No doubt the quality of play will be high as the pros take to the felt one more time to battle it out for some WSOP hardware. Cards fly at 5 p.m. PDT and Poker Pages will be there to bring you all of the LIVE action. |
