Its is that time of day, and players are starting to be knocked out left and right.  Recent eliminations include Ray Henson, Clint Keown, Mario Locicero, Steve Kim, Jim Geary, Alan Snow, and Scott Kittle.
Antonio Patelidas was also eliminated after three betting from the big blind.  It was capped and Andreas Hagen, Steve Kim, and Antonio Patelidas went to the flop.  It came A  7  6 .  Patelidas put in his last 200, Hagen bet 1k, and Kim folded.  Patelidas showed K  Q  against Hagen’s A  A . The turn was a 4  and the river was 2

Shawn Buchanan was given a penalty for one round.  The floor man saw Buchanan on his phone when the cards were dealt and immediately gave him a penalty for using his phone.  Shawn was upset stating that he wasn’t texting or using the phone, and he wasn’t even given a chance to explain himself before he was given a penalty.  He was low on chips and ready to just walk away from the table, but several players came to his defense in the matter.  After just a few hands, the ruling was overturned and Buchanan was given the ok to play again.

His first hand back to the table he raised and saw an ace high flop with Jean-Robert Bellanade.  Buchanan was all in for less than a complete bet, and Bellanade made the call.  Buchanan turned over pocket nines against Bellanade’s pocket deuces.  Buchanan was able to double up, and is back in the game in more ways than one.

Players were on a 20 minute break at the beginning of the hour.  They came back to 500/1,000 blinds and 1,000/2,000 limit.  These next few levels are sure to see some short stacks go bust, and those unfortunate enough to miss hands will find themselves at the bottom of the pack.

Ken Lennard found himself in that exact situation.  He had entered a few pots in which he wasn’t able to make the best hand.  He ended up as a very short stack.  He three bet a raise from Hantonio Patelidas.  There were three callers behind, and Patelidas put in the fourth bet.  Everyone called.  The flop came J  6  Q .  Keith Ray led out, Steve Kim folded, Patelidas called, and Lennard called all in.  The turn came a 9 .  Ray bet, and Patelidas called for side action.  The river was a 7 .  Ray bet again, and Patelidas folded his hand.  Ray tuened over Q  8  for the flush.  Lennard is the first one out at table #245.

Humberto Brenes takes one down with A K.  Robert Lauria raised, and Brenes called from the big blind.  The flop came A  6  9 .  Brenes checked, Lauria bet, and Brenes raised.  Lauria made the call and the turn brought the J .  Brenes bet and Lauria called.  The river was a 6 .  Brenes bet again with Lauria calling behind.  Brenes took it down with A  K , and is now up to 59k.

Greg Mueller and Michael Byrne went heads up after Mueller called a raise from Byrne.  The flop came 3  4  K .  Byrne bet with Mueller calling behind.  The turn was the T .  Byrne checked, and Mueller bet.  Byrne made the call, and the river came out As.  Byrne checked, Mueller bet, and Byrne called turning over A  3  for the win.

Welcome to Day 2 coverage of the $1,500 Limit Hold’em Shootout.  Today, 64 players return at their chance to take down a WSOP title and the most sought after bracelet in the world.  All 64 players returning today are in the money and guaranteed $4,350.  All tables will play down to the winner, and tomorrow 8 players will return for the final table.

David Williams has had a good start at his table today.  The flop came Q  J  9 , and Williams bet.  Erik Haakenson raised, Williams reraised, and Haakenson called.  The turn came a 3 .  Williams bet, Haakenson raised, and Williams made the call.  The river was an 8 .  Williams checked Haakenson bet, Williams raised, and Haakenson made the call.  Williams showed T  9  for a straight, and Haakenson mucked his hand.

There was quite a squabble on table #243 in which Ronald Witteles and Joep Van Den Bijgaart were in a hand together.  Somehow the correct amount of chips were not put into the pot, and for more than five minutes the players were trying to figure out what happened.  The floor was called over, chips were counted, and they replayed the hand to see where the chips went astray.  After some debate, they figured out that Van Den Bijgaart owed a black chip to the pot.  He gladly paid it, ready to get on to the next hand, and play resumed.

Day 2 of the $1,500 Limit Shoot-Out begins today at 2 p.m. PDT. Day 1 ended in a blaze of glory for some, and painful eliminations for others. The remaining competitors have their sights set on the $194,854 first place prize money, and the gold bracelet. Whose aim will stay true? Who is cocked, locked, and ready to rock? Tune in to Poker Pages to find out as we bring you all the LIVE coverage.
