| Neal Cooke | |
Friday, 14th of November 2008 09:30 PM Picking up the action on the turn, there is already a sizable pot and seat 4 has moved all-in for 19,675. The board read T 7 8 5 . Neal Cooke went into the tank for a while, apologizing to the table for taking so long. After counting out the chips to call, he had about 10k left. Neal finally decided to make the call, showing T 9 for top pair with the open-ender. Seat 4 held A 9 for the nut flush draw with the same open-ender, but no pair. He would need an Ace or diamond to take the pot. Any non-diamond Jack or 6 would result in a split pot. Neal owned the rest of the deck. The river peeled off the 9 and seat 4 was busted. Neal chipped up to ~65k.
Friday, 14th of November 2008 09:03 PM On a final board of A A K Q 8, Tay Nguyen (sb) checked to seat 1 (bb) who bet 6k. Tay then check-raised to 16k. Seat 1 called quickly, showing JT off for the Broadway straight. Tay rolled over pocket Kings for the flopped full house to take the pot.
Friday, 14th of November 2008 08:53 PM Clash of the Titans: it had to happen sooner or later with them on the same table. Ty Stewart (utg) and Chris Dombrowski (utg+1) got involved in a raising war pre-flop. When the flop came A J 6 both checked. Turn was the 9 and Ty fired 3,500. Chris raised to 8,500 straight and Ty made the call. River was the A and Ty checked. Chris bet ~20k. Ty let it go and with that pot, these two have swapped places on the leader-board. Chris is now the chip leader with ~90k and Ty dropped to second with ~80k.
Friday, 14th of November 2008 08:42 PM Level 8: Blinds 300/600 with 75 antes. Play continues. This will be the last level of the night. 67 players remain. Average stack is now over 29,500.
Friday, 14th of November 2008 08:29 PM Despite the randomness of breaking tables and moving players to fill empty seats, the big stack of Chris Dombrowski has landed at table 29 to the left of chip leader Ty Stewart. Also at this table are Chris Ferguson, Yosh Nakano, and former big stack David 'Big H' Paul, who is now circling the drain with about 6k. Dan Heimiller and Ken 'the Snake' Norman have both disappeared from the field. Ken got his last chips in good with pocket Queens against AQ, but again an Ace hit the board to crack Ken's big pair and send him to the rail.

| Sabyl Cohen-Landrum - left | |
Friday, 14th of November 2008 08:14 PM Sabyl Cohen-Landrum got her ~6k short-stack all-in with pocket 7s, getting action from Scott Roberds holding A9. He caught two pair as the board came A Q T 6 9 to beat Sabyl and send her home. Travis Erdman is continuing to gather chips. He's now up to ~70k, good for at least a top five spot on the leader-board.

| Chris Dombrowski | |
Friday, 14th of November 2008 07:59 PM Kathy Liebert raised to 1,200 in late position and got called by the small blind. The flop came A 5 5 and the SB checked, Kathy bet 1,200 and the SB moved all-in. Kathy let it go. After that hand, she was down to ~10k. Allen Bari opened for 1,050 up front and got called by 'Raiser' Rick Troendoy. On the flop of T 4 3 rainbow, Allen bet ~1,200 and Rick said he was all-in. Allen beat him into the pot with his last 9,900, showing pocket Kings. Rick held KT off (top pair) and was drawing slim to two remaining Tens. Neither Ten appeared and Allen doubled up to ~26k. Latest chip guess-timates for the leaders and a few others: |
| Ty Stewart | 90,000 | | Chris Dombrowski | 84,000 | | Scott Clements | 64,000 | | Michael Binger | 60,000 | | Chris Ferguson | 50,000 | | Allen Kessler | 40,000 | | Robert Cheung | 38,000 | | Mark Bonsack | 37,000 | | Mark Muchnik | 26,000 | | Yosh Nakano | 14,000 | | Ken Norman | 12,000 | | Aaron Kanter | 6,000 | | Sabyl Cohen-Landrum | 5,000 | | Total chips in play | 1,980,000 | | Players remaining | 75 | | Average stack | 26,400 |
Friday, 14th of November 2008 07:41 PM Level 7: Blinds 200/400 with 50 antes. Play continues. Before the dinner break, Matt Brady called all-in on a board of T T 4 K 7. Matt's pocket Aces had been brutally cracked by Tay Nguyen's pocket 4s. Matt reported to the rail. Friday, 14th of November 2008 07:30 PM Play has resumed in level 6, still playing 150/300 blinds with 25 antes.
Friday, 14th of November 2008 06:30 PM Time for dinner. Players have been sent on a one hour dinner break. Play will resume at about 7:30pm with roughly ten minutes remaining in level 6.

| Matt Keikoan - krushed | |
Friday, 14th of November 2008 06:12 PM Matt Keikoan busted out a while back and I just got the scoop. Matt was down to his last 2,600 and he put it all in with Q5 off. Mark 'bonsai' Bonsack looked him up with JT suited. By the river, Mark had made a full house and Matt made for the exit. Sabyl Cohen-Landrum doubled up another player who held pocket Kings. Sabyl held AQ and caught a Queen, but it was not enough. After shipping most of her stack across the table, Sabyl was left with only about 2,000 chips.

| Mark Muchnik | |
Friday, 14th of November 2008 05:53 PM After the player in seat 9 opened for 900, Mark Muchnik re-raised to 3,800. Ken Norman tanked for a bit, then reluctantly pushed his cards to the dealer. After the opener folded, Ken asked the dealer to turn up his cards -- he folded pocket Queens. Mark made the courtesy show of his hand -- pocket Kings. Nice laydown, Kenny! Mark is over 30k now while Ken has around 16k. 90 players remain. Average stack is now 22k.
Friday, 14th of November 2008 05:43 PM At river-time, the board read Q 6 2 8 Q. Ty Stewart (hijack) checked to David 'Big H' Paul on the button, who bet 4k. Ty made the call and forced Big H to turn over his K J (squa-doosh). Ty tabled 42 off for a pair of deuces to go with the Queens on the board to take the pot. After that scuffle, David was down to ~25k while Ty was getting close to 80k in chips.
Friday, 14th of November 2008 05:39 PM Level 6: Blinds 150/300 with 25 antes. Play continues.

| Yosh Nakano | |
Friday, 14th of November 2008 05:29 PM The board showed K 9 2 J on the turn and Donald Galine checked over to Allen Bari, who thought about it for a bit, then checked behind. River was the 6 and Donald checked again. Allen said "all-in" and Donald thought about it, but was essentially pot committed and called. Allen rolled over K Q for a pair of Kings. Donald tossed his pocket Aces on the table and said "this the same hand I busted out of the World Series with" as he got up to walk away. Apparently he thought both Allen's cards were hearts and he made a flush, but Donald's Aces were good and they called him back to the table to collect his pot. At the turn, the board showed 7 4 2 4 and David 'Big H' Paul bet 3k. Yosh Nakano just had 700 chips more and decided to move in. David called the extra 700, showng A J (Ace-high with two overcards). Yosh rolled over pocket Tens. The river was the T giving Yosh a set, but his pair was good enough and he doubled up.
Friday, 14th of November 2008 05:11 PM After a raise and call in front of him, Max Pescatori moved all in for 7,075 more (can you say squeeze-play?). The original raiser folded, but Clint Roberts made the call, showing A K . Max held A T and was in bad shape. The flop came Q J 7 and the two exchanged outs. Now Max needed a King for the straight and a Ten would give his opponent the straight. Turn was the T which made the straight for Clint, but also gave Max the nut-flush draw. River was the Q though, and the Italian Pirate walked the plank. Jeff Madsen suffered a similar fate, although he got his chips in good with pocket Queens. He was called by a player holding AQ, who caught an Ace on the flop to send Jeff to the rail.

| Ty Stewart | |
Friday, 14th of November 2008 04:39 PM Level 5: Blinds 100/200 with 25 antes. Play has resumed. Just before the break, Ty Stewart took a big pot from Neil Blumenfield. Neil was left with fumes and Ty was up to ~60k and the chip lead. Jason DeWitt will not be making back-to-back final tables. He apparently busted out before the break. Here are some other random estimated chip counts as of the break: |
| Michael Binger | 30,000 | | Scott Clements | 28,000 | | Dan Heimiller | 27,000 | | Robert Cheung | 27,000 | | Matt Brady | 25,000 | | Chris Ferguson | 24,000 | | Aaron Kanter | 24,000 | | Allen Kessler | 23,000 | | Kathy Liebert | 21,000 | | Max Pescatori | 21,000 | | Allen Bari | 18,000 | | Tim Vance | 17,000 | | Sabyl Cohen-Landrum | 11,000 | | Jeff Madsen | 11,000 | | Ken Norman | 8,000 | | Matt Keikoan | 8,000 | | Total chips in play | 1,980,000 | | Players remaining | 104 | | Average stack | 19,038 |

| Jerry Yang - Queens cracked | |
Friday, 14th of November 2008 04:16 PM Robert Cheung has been moved to the table with Sabyl Cohen-Landrum and Jeff Madsen. Sabyl just doubled up Jeff when her flopped top pair didn't improve on the turn or river and Jeff's pocket Kings held up. 2007 WSOP Main Event champ Jerry Yang got all-in on an A T 9 flop, only to find out his opponent had flopped two pair. Jerry couldn't catch a two-outer and was busted.

Friday, 14th of November 2008 03:56 PM David 'Big H' Paul just busted another player, chipping up to ~50k, good for the chip lead. Neil Blumenfield is sitting on about 40k and both these guys are at the same table as Chris 'Jesus' Ferguson, who has about 20k in chips. On a flop of 5 3 2 seat 2 (sb) bet 1,500. Seat 8 (hijack) made the call, then Matt Brady (button) counted out his chips and moved all in. Both opponents folded and Matt chipped up to ~25k. 108 players remain. Average is a bit over 18,300.

Friday, 14th of November 2008 03:35 PM On a flop of Q 3 2 with two clubs, Johnny Chan got his last chips in the middle against Drew Marks. Johnny held A T for the flush draw. Drew held pocket 33 for the set. The turn was the 6 completing Johnny's flush, but the river was the 6 pairing the board and giving his opponent the full house. Johnny hit the rail early in level 4.

| Travis Erdman | |
Friday, 14th of November 2008 03:06 PM Travis Erdman is trying to make it a three-fer. He made the final table of this event the last two years running, finishing 5th in 2006 and 9th in 2007. He's built his stack up to ~35k and is making a run for it again this year. On the other side of the coin (or chip) Johnny Chan is short-stacked, down to about 6k.
Friday, 14th of November 2008 02:45 PM Final player count is 132, creating a prize pool of $640,200. The final 18 will get paid as follows: |
| 1 | $ 181,379* | | 2 | $ 112,675 | | 3 | $ 77,464 | | 4 | $ 53,777 | | 5 | $ 40,653 | | 6 | $ 31,370 | | 7 | $ 24,968 | | 8 | $ 18,566 | | 9 | $ 13,444 | | 10 | $ 9,603 | | 11 | $ 9,603 | | 12 | $ 9,603 | | 13 | $ 8,323 | | 14 | $ 8,323 | | 15 | $ 8,323 | | 16 | $ 7,042 | | 17 | $ 7,042 | | 18 | $ 7,042 |

| Matt Keikoan & Tim Vance | |
Friday, 14th of November 2008 01:56 PM At the river the board showed A 8 2 7 K. Jerry Yang bet 1,200 and got the look-up from Tim Vance. Jerry showed AT for a pair of Aces. Tim showed AJ for a pair of Aces with a slightly better kicker to take the pot. With a final board of T 9 4 8 2 seat 1 moved all-in for 7,900. Matt Keikoan went into the tank for a few minutes before finally pushing his cards to the dealer. 132 players have signed up so far. There is apparently still a single-table stellite going on for an entry to this event, so registration will remain open until that has finished. Chris Ferguson arriving during level 2 and took his seat behind a stack that had been blinded off for about 90 minutes.
Friday, 14th of November 2008 01:33 PM On the turn the board showed 7 4 2 9 . Both players checked. River was the Q and again both players checked. Seat 5 showed AK off (nut-no-pair). Michael Binger (small blind) showed 7 6 for a pair of 7s to take the pot. Johnny Chan opened for 325 from the cutoff and it folded to the big blind, who kicked it up to 11,025. Johnny let it go and the BB showed Q9 off, saying something about how he always wanted to bluff a world champion.

| Robert 'RCW' Cheung | |
Friday, 14th of November 2008 01:19 PM Robert 'RCW' Cheung limped utg and started a limp-fest as four more players limped along behind him. Then the small blind kicked it up to 450 straight. The big blind folded and Robert popped it to 1,200. All the limpers got out of the way and the small blind decided to let it go. That's the "limp-re-raise" executed to perfection by RCW. Yosh Nakano has arrived a bit late and taken his seat at this table with Robert.

Friday, 14th of November 2008 12:49 PM Action is a little slow early today as the stacks are deep and blinds are small. More pros have wandered in and joined the fray: Matt Brady, Matt Keikoan, Tim Vance, Jerry Yang, Kathy Liebert, Scott Clements, Sabyl Cohen-Landrum, Jeff Madsen, Robert 'RCW' Cheung, Allen 'Chainsaw' Kessler, Dan Heimiller, and Michael Binger. Former NBA player Ken 'the Snake' Norman is also here, trying to beat his 14th place finish a couple of weeks ago in the circuit championship at Horseshoe Hammond. Jsaon DeWitt, who finished 8th in that event, is also playing today, looking for his first circuit win.
