I’m not putting a lot of energy into it at the moment but I have a series of articles I’m writing, and have written, that put together would yield a book I would call ‘How your children will die.” Catchy, huh?

There are some very base, very easily projected, human ways of thinking and acting that lead directly to violence and the path we are on at the moment as a society is cultivating a Perfect Storm. I touched upon this easily predictable violent outcome in the article I wrote on the young, poor, uneducated, greedy, African American men who murdered Michael Jordan’s father, James. This is the way Karma works. You piss in a part of the pool, even the deep VIP end, and eventually it harshes out enough people that it returns negatively in your own life or in that of someone you love. This is very different than the simplistic and vengeful-- Michael was greedy and bad so the universe struck down his father.

We were robbed here yesterday. Some wayward youths, most likely, saw us leave our house, desired my wife’s ipod and Bose docking station and once they were inside they rifled the place and also stole her Thursday night poker winnings of $190. This was also an act of Karma and you’ll see more of it all over the world as the economic times worsen and people become more desperate. Whether it is “my “ Karma is now up to me and whatever level of consciousness I have managed to cultivate in this lifetime so far.

I identified two of the four “kids” who live in the lowest-end apartment complex just down the street. They are late teens and perhaps early twenties. They so far have not been able to be charged with our robbery or the one they committed two houses down two days earlier but one kid had an outstanding bench warrant, for of all things, burglary and was taken away in handcuffs. Knowing where they live, what they drive, and that they know the other two locals who probably did the real stealing of my property gives me a very unique way to live out my Karma. I can retaliate if I choose to.

I don’t know who started this most current mess but the world is always a mess- that’s our nature. I don’t know who most recently stole the huge amounts of capital to bring the worldwide pain we are now calling a “credit crisis”, or who harshed out these kid’s parents so they would grow up the way they did, but I do know it is now my choice to add to the pain and negative reaction in the world or let it stop with me. It’s a great honor to be high enough ability to not seek revenge. Am I worthy of it? It’s a great checking of the bread in one’s oven to be able to take someone’s angry, confused body-blow and yet feel it’s ugliness and pain hardly at all.

I’m kind of an old hand at this stuff but you never know how a man may act once he is lovingly saddled with a wife and newborn child. They entered my domicile and stole a cherished electronic device that I listen to every morning playing the songs that my son and I have grown to love. I can tell my son misses the music.

There is just really no getting around it that I’m past getting riled up and defending the honor or sovereignty of “things”. I gave up my “interests” in Iraq as soon as young men and women had to die for them. I whole-heartedly abdicated my string of Syrian Jiffy Lubes even before W. ordered a whole new round of young, poor, mostly minority, American youths into the meat grinder.

But I do like a challenge and I do like playing games so I happen to have devised a trap for these guys that I will share with you later should they be dumb and greedy enough to fall into it. After that who can say?

Is it just me or is there truly a look of gratitude in the bass’s glassy, pained eye when the sport fisherman lovingly practices catch and release? Either way it beats online poker and I’m baiting some hooks and setting some trap lines which I’ll check on later this week.

I’m not so sure my hearts in it either way.
