79 Players Make it to Day 2! by Amy Calistri79 players advance from Day One Flight One to play Day Two, which will be held on Thursday.
Good news. We should get the player lists and chip counts in the next half hour. Monday, 26th of September 2005 09:43 PM And we're out! It will take awhile for the chips to be counted and bagged. And it may be tomorrow am before the total player list and count is available. When it is, I'll post it under this (Day One Flight One) blog entry. I did happen to notice that Paul Magriel was at 58,500 and Stacy Matuson was 71,000 and change. And yes PSOers, TheBrain survived day one. Monday, 26th of September 2005 09:21 PM Susie Moncek is out. Only two more gals in the field. Rosing is just holding on, but Matuson has been picking up steam. She may have almost 70K at this point. And we're just seconds from announcing the close of the day. Monday, 26th of September 2005 09:15 PM John Pham doubled through when his A8 went up against 33 and he caught his 8. He's probably now hovering around 5K Monday, 26th of September 2005 09:04 PM Sizing up John Phan's chip stack is always a moving target. But he might truly be on life support now. His AK ran into another player's KK, and he is down to under 2K. And PSOer TheBrain is still holding on. I don't think he's had more than 4K for much of the evening has built it up to almost 20K in the last level. . A lot of the play at this point reminds of bubbly play. Most people are just waiting out the clock to make it through the day. The big stacks are pushing on the middle stack's reluctance to engage. And the small stacks are starting to hail mary. Monday, 26th of September 2005 08:53 PM We're at level 8, the last level of the day. At the end of today, all the names and chip counts will be available before tomorrow's start of Flight Two. Roland De Wolfe has been near the top of the heap all day. Some approximate chip counts
Monday, 26th of September 2005 08:30 PM Were down to 10 tables. Monday, 26th of September 2005 07:47 PM We're at 11 tables. And the room is very quiet. Well, that is, except the table with Paul Magriel and Steve Zolotow. Paul raised it in mid-position. Everyone folded while the bb debated. He eventually folded showing a 2 - and quacking - mimicing Magriel's famed war cry. Magriel, in turn, showed another 2, and quacked back, scooping the pot. Steve Zolotow, "We are obviously quacking up here." Monday, 26th of September 2005 07:19 PM The players have gone on dinner break and will be returning at 8:00pm EST. Monday, 26th of September 2005 05:48 PM Steve Zolotow was feeling a little short stacked. But he's feeling a little better now. All-in after the flop, Zolotow's 77 found another on the flop. His opponent's JJ never improved. Zolotow is sitting at 22K+ now. And a mini stack update, Devilfish is sitting at a little over 27K. And John Phan is sitting at a little over 11K - but this changes every hand. The players will go on dinner break within the next half. Monday, 26th of September 2005 05:14 PM PSOer TheBrain is still holding on, but he says he might push in with anything higher than a 6. Monday, 26th of September 2005 04:53 PM We just started level 6: a 50 ante and 200-400 blinds. Quinn Do is out. He got it all-in with a Q J and his opponent had K Q . By the turn it looked like Do might pull it out with two pair. But the river was an ace, making a broadway for the other player.Terrence Chan has also departed. And poker blogers, I didn't see DoubleAs during my last walk through. I fear the worst. We've just broken down yet another table and we're at 13 tables now, putting the average chip count at just over 16,000/ Monday, 26th of September 2005 04:44 PM Melissa Hayden is out. Monday, 26th of September 2005 04:29 PM Mark Dickstein is out. Mark was looking to make a move and did: all-in with A4 and 5300. He was called by someone with AJ - who caught a J for more salt in the wound. Monday, 26th of September 2005 04:11 PM The players have just got back from break. And the atmosphere has changed. It's serious now. Players are looking to position themselves for a second day of play. There are 15 tables left. And we're playing through level 8 today (which should be about 10:30 EST). Some healthy chip stacks out there: Mario Donoso 42,000 Roland De Wolfe 47,000
Monday, 26th of September 2005 03:47 PM Here's the update on the Andy Black hand. Black pushed all- in with 22 and was called by an A 7 . A river 7 ended the day for Black.Monday, 26th of September 2005 03:10 PM Andy Black just got eliminated. I'll try to track down the hand. Just a quick note about who is yet to play. Robert Williamson, Erik Seidel, Clonie Gowen, Chip Jett, Gavin Smith and Phil Hellmuth have all been spotted today. I'll keep you posted on more notable sightings. Monday, 26th of September 2005 02:55 PM For all you bloggers out there DoubleAs is setting with about 16K. And for all you poker radio fans, Scott Swedlund of KLWN is sitting with about 14K. And PSOers, TheBrain is still holding in there. Monday, 26th of September 2005 02:45 PM I can't decide who's stack is more volitile, John Phan's or the Devilfish's. Ulliott has worked his stack to just over 30,000 in the last 20 or so minutes. And John was down to about 5,000 before he doubled up just before my last chip count. Monday, 26th of September 2005 02:28 PM Allen Cunningham is eliminated by Roland De Wolfe (winner of the WPT in Paris). Cunningham bets 1800 on a flop of J Monday, 26th of September 2005 02:17 PM Some approximate chip counts:
Monday, 26th of September 2005 02:16 PM Just a quick PokerSchoolOnline update: so far I've seen three PSOers. TheBrain is playing today - and still holding his own. xxPiratexx plays tomorrow. And mwig plays on Wednesday. Monday, 26th of September 2005 02:06 PM We're down to about 180 players. The estimated player count for today's flight was approximately 210. Monday, 26th of September 2005 01:50 PM
I'm going to try to get more accurate counts once the players go on break - and hopefully get a few photos loaded. Monday, 26th of September 2005 12:58 PM Well Devilfish is off to an early start, and has about a 20,000 stack already. I'll be adding names as I see them on the post below. And hopefull I'll get the official list soon. Because of my flight difficulties, I missed the part last night. But there seems to be a story about the Devilfish and an inflatable sheep. But I don't think I'll chase down the rest of that story. Monday, 26th of September 2005 12:07 PM Well they've been at it for about 40 minutes. But it took us this long to actually get a media table set up. So we should be good to go. We're still wating for the updated Flight One player list which should be out soon. They are expecting about 600 players total over all three flights. And we won't have a final player count and payout schedule until Wednesday, mid-day. The people I've seen in the field today already (and I'll update this in a minute) are: Allen Cunningham |
