Albany, New York
Tonight I’m traveling to Albany, NY for the book launch for “Life on Tilt…Confessions of a Poker Dad,” in which I wrote the forward. You can check out excerpts as well as my forward at www.lifeontilt.com This is the smallest airplane I’ve ever been on. Thankfully the flight is only an hour and 15 minutes. No crew, just 8 passengers and two pilots. Both of which if you add up their age don’t equal mine. Somehow they managed to get us up in the air and so far the flight has been smooth. I use to be terrified of flying and there was a day when I would see this plane and turn around and ask for my money back. I’m much better today having faced my fears and for the most part it doesn’t bother me much anymore. I learned to laugh at myself I guess and was determined not to let fear run my life by limiting my air travel. Still there are times when my palms get a little sweaty and I have to reassert my resolve. I miss my kids. It’s been almost two weeks since I left LA to play in Vancouver and now I am heading to the other side of the country that much farther away. While I’ve been away my son Jim was elected most valuable pitcher and received a trophy at his high school season ending baseball banquet. He had a great season and the coach got up to testify how in one game Jim pitched the entire game and secured a 2-1 lead while striking out 11 batters! It’s missing the awards ceremonies, not having breakfast with your kids in the morning or picking them up from school that can be some of the toughest beats to deal with out on the road. The song I’m working on is a testament to this and I look forward to it’s release in just a couple of weeks. After a few days in New York I head down to Florida for a week to put the final touches on it in the recording studio. It’s been a dream of mine to record an original song and I’m excited to be this close to the fruition of that dream. Well, we have started our descent so I will have to close the chapter on this blog and look to update you from Florida. Till then, may the wind be at your back and the sun upon your face. Enjoy the Journey, Kenna James
