Fatolla Shahen - 10th place

Fatolla Shahen got his last chips in with pocket 9s and was called by Tim 'TK' Miles, who held AJ offsuit. Board came Q J 9 Q 8 and Tim took the pot with his full house, sending Fatolla to the rail.

Fatolla Shahen finished in 10th place, earning $14,360.

That's it for today. The final 9 are baggin' & taggin'. Chip counts will be posted here shortly.

Tuesday, 20th of May 2008 11:25 PM

On a flop of 9 6 6 , Marc Fratter bet 40k and chip leader Tim Miles moved all in. Marc called all-in, showing 6 3 for trip sixes. Tim held A 7 for the nut flush draw. He would need a heart to bust Marc, but the last two were J Q . Marc doubled up to over 300k and Tim was left with ~260k.

A few hands later, Tim Miles doubled up through Fatolla Shahen to re-take the chip lead.

Tuesday, 20th of May 2008 10:53 PM

Jason Brice - 11th place

Jason got his last chips in with A9 and was called by Ed Jatho, who was ahead with pocket 7s. The board changed nothing and Jason was busted.

Jason Brice finished in 11th place, earning $14,360.

The clock was stopped as the final ten drew seats and moved to a single table. Play will resume shortly and they will play until one more is busted.

Tuesday, 20th of May 2008 10:45 PM

Mike Browne - 12th place

Mike moved his last ~40k in utg and got called by Fatolla Shahen in the small blind. Mike's pocket Kings were ahead; Fatolla held pocket 6s. Then the board came T 9 2 6 A and again pocket Kings are cracked, sending Mike to the rail.

Mike Browne finished in 12th place, earning $14,360.

Jeff Tims raised to 24k and got called by Ed Jatho.  Flop was T T 9  and both checked.  Turn was the 5  and Jeff fired 22k, which Ed called.  River was the Q.  Jeff fired 30k and Ed called.  Jeff showed pocket Kings.  Ed flashed an Ace, then mucked (?).

Matt 'Allinat420' Stout - 13th place

Blake Purvis was all-in with A Q against Fatolla Shahen's pocket Kings after the flop of 8 7 6. The last two came T 3 and Blake was busted.

Blake Purvis finished in 14th place, earning $11,967.

Matt Stout, who finished 24th at the Aussie Millions in January and who won a preliminary circuit event at Caesar's in Atlantic City in March, got busted from the other table shortly after.

Matt 'Allinat420' Stout was all out in 13th place, earning $11,967.

Tuesday, 20th of May 2008 09:54 PM

Cory Albertson - 15th place

Ed Jatho opened for 22k from the button and Lou Esposito smooth-called from the small blind. Flop was 9 7 5 - all hearts - and both checked. Turn was the 9 and Lou fired 24k. Ed called to see the river, which was the 3 . Both checked again. Ed showed pocket deuces. Lou showed pocket Aces and has now chipped up to about 150k.

Cory moved in for ~60k from the middle, then Tim Miles called from the button. Mike Browne was in the big blind and seemed to struggle with his decision, but eventually folded. Cory showed A5 offsuit and Tim held A K for the lead. Mike said he folded pocket Jacks. Then the board came J T 6 J 3 (which would have given Mike quad Jacks) but Tim took the pot with AK-high.

Cory Albertson finished in 15th place, earning $11, 967.

Tuesday, 20th of May 2008 09:44 PM

Suju Abraham - 16th place

Suju moved in from the middle for ~55k and Lou Esposito called all-in. Lou's pocket Jacks were ahead of Suju's K4 suited. The board bricked out and Lou doubled up, leaving Suju with only about 15k.

Suju had the big blind on the next hand and after Gabe Costner opened for 18k, Suju tossed his last 10k in without looking.  Gabe held pocket Queens (again) and Suju held 74.  No miracle here and Suju was busted.

Suju Abraham finished in 16th place, earning $9,573.

Tuesday, 20th of May 2008 09:27 PM

Daryll Fish - 17th place

On a flop of T 8 5 rainbow, Gabe Costner moved an and was called by Ed Jatho. Gabe's AJ would need help as Ed held pocket 6s for the lead. Turn was a 4 and changed nothing, but the river was an Ace and Gabe doubled up.

Daryll Fish shoved his last ~50k in from the small blind and Ed Jatho looked him up from the big. Ed's AQ off had Daryll's Q 2 in bad shape. Daryll flopped a straight draw to a chop and then turned a flush draw to add to his survival outs, but the river was an offsuit Ace, sending the pot to Ed and sending Daryll to the pay table.

Daryll Fish finished in 17th place, earning $9,573.

Jason Brice moved in over the top of an opening raise from Gabe Costner. Gabe called the all-in, showing pocket Queens. Jason's AK off would need help, but that was OK. He said this is his 9th time being all-in for his tournament life. Sure enough, the board came A 7 2 J K and Jason doubled up, again.

Tuesday, 20th of May 2008 08:44 PM

Chip leader Charles Kelley called the all-in of Nick Ceci, showing QJ suited. Nick's A3 was ahead and a slight favorite. The board bricked out and Nick doubled up with Ace-high, taking a bite out of the chip leader. Chuck was down to about 110k after that.

Tuesday, 20th of May 2008 08:28 PM

Jonathan Little - 18th place

Jonathan Little open-shoved for his last 39,500 from the hijack, then Lou Esposito shoved his last 46,500 in from the button. The blinds got out of the way and Jonathan showed A 3 . Lou held A Q and the lead. The flop came J T 8 bringing little hope for Jon. The turn was the 5 which gave him a lot more outs with the flush draw, but the river was the A , slamming the door for Jon. Defending champ Lou Esposito took the pot and is still in the hunt for a repeat title.

Jonathan Little finished in 18th place, earning $9,573.

Tuesday, 20th of May 2008 08:17 PM

On the turn with the board showing A Q 6 K , Devin checked and Mike Browne moved all in. Devin called all-in showing K 5 for a pair of Kings with the nut-flush draw. Mike held pocket Aces for top set. Devin was looking for a club to stay alive, but the river was another King giving Mike the full house.

Devin Jarreau finished in 19th place, earning $7,180.

Tuesday, 20th of May 2008 08:04 PM

Charles Wright moved his last ~40k in and got the call from Tim Miles. Charles' AK suited was leading Tim's QJ off, but the board came Q 7 3 4 5 and Tim's pair of Queens send Charles to the rail.

Charles Wright finished in 20th place, earning $7,180.

Tuesday, 20th of May 2008 07:53 PM

On a flop of K K 6 with 3-way action, it was checked to Gabe Costner, who fired 18k. After a few seconds, Floyd Vanderford moved in for 78k (Jeff Tims bowed out). Gabe made the call, showing K8. Floyd had him notched, holding K9 for a better kicker. The last two cards came 5 4 and Floyd doubled up to over 200k, leaving Gabe with less than 40k.

Tuesday, 20th of May 2008 06:07 PM

Mike Browne opened for 9k and Robert hit it again to the tune of 24k. Mike moved all-in and Robert called, showing pocket Kings. He was ahead of Mike's AQ suited, but the board came Q 2 2 Q x and Mike took the pot with trip Queens. Pocket Kings are the kiss of death here today!

Robert Quin finished in 23rd place, earning $7,180.

Rick Drury got all in with pocket 7s and in bad shape against Gabe Costner's pocket 9s. Gabe flopped a set and although Rick picked up a straight draw, he couldn't complete it and was busted.

Rick Drury finished in 22nd place, earning $7,180.

On a Q 8 8 flop, Lee got all in against Jason Brice. Lee held KQ for two pair, but Jason held T8 for trips and the lead. The last two cards were bricks and Lee was done.

Lee Wilson finished in 21st place, earning $7,180.

Tuesday, 20th of May 2008 05:55 PM

Huge pot! Marc Fratter got all in against Blake Purvis. Marc's AK off was in horrible shape against Blake's pocket Kings (both black). The the flop came Q T 4 eliminating the A as one of Marc's outs, but giving him three others with the non-club Jacks. Turn was an irrelevant 7 . Then the J hit the river, completing Marc's gutshot straight and doubling him up to over 200k. Former chip leader Blake Purvis shipped about 100k across the table.

Tuesday, 20th of May 2008 05:35 PM

Michael J. Cohen - 25th place

Michael got his chips all in with pocket Kings, only to run into the pocket Aces of Blake Purvis.  No help for Michael and he was done.

Michael J. Cohen finished in 25th place, earning $7,180.

Tim Miles made it 7,500 to go and Jonathan smooth-called.  Flop was K T 9 rainbow.  Tim bet 10k and again Jon just called.  Turn was an 8 and both checked.  River was an Ace and after a bit of thought, Tim announced all-in.  Jon snap-called, showing pocket Kings for the flopped set.  Tim showed pocket Aces for the rivered set and best hand.

Jonathan Nathan finished in 24th place, earning $7,180.

Tuesday, 20th of May 2008 05:24 PM

Dana Diephouse - 27th place

Dana Diephouse got all in with pocket Tens, only to run into the pocket Kings of Devin Jarreau. The board changed nothing and Dana was dispatched in 27th place ($7,180).

In a battle of the blinds, Gary Friedlander (big) got his short-stack all-in against Charles Kelley (small). Gary's QJ off was ahead of Charles' 98 off, but the board came 9 5 5 4 K and Charles paired his 9 to take the pot. Gary took 26th place ($7,180).

Tuesday, 20th of May 2008 05:14 PM

Play has resumed. There is one hour left at the current level.

Tuesday, 20th of May 2008 05:09 PM

Marc Fratter raised from the small blind and Jack Schanbacher moved all-in from the big blind. Marc took a few moments, then made the call. Jack's A6 off would need help if he was to survive against Marc's pocket 9s. The board came J 8 8 5 3 and it was over for Jack, who is today's bubble-boy.

The final 27 are all in the money. The clock is paused as they are now drawing seats and moving to the final three tables.

Tuesday, 20th of May 2008 04:51 PM

Lots of drama on the bubble! Devin Jerreau open-shoved (utg+1) for 26k. All folded around to Blake Purvis in the big blind, who made the call....

Meanwhile on another table, Dana Diephouse moved all in from the small blind for 18,800 over Mike Browne's opening raise. Mike was in the tank for a few minutes, then finally folded. Dana added some much-needed chips to his stack.

Back to Devin, who rolled over K J . Blake's pocket 9s were ahead, but the board came K 6 8 A Q to double up Devin, who apologized to the room for not going broke.

Tuesday, 20th of May 2008 04:44 PM

Ed Jatho

David Babin (small blind) was all-in for his last 15,600 and called by three players. Flop was Q 5 8 and all three checked. Turn was the Q and it was checked to Blake Purvis (cutoff) who fired 25k. Suju Abraham (button) folded. Back to Ed Jatho (big blind) who tanked for a few minutes. He finally made the call. River was the 9 and Ed said "I'm all-in, sir". Blake took about a minute, then folded his hand. Ed showed pocket 9s for the rivered full-house. David showed his out-drawn pocket Kings and headed for the rail in 29th place. Ed is now up to about 180k.

With 28 players remaining, it is bubble time and they are playing hand-for-hand until one more is busted.

Tuesday, 20th of May 2008 04:04 PM

David Fox - dusted

Day 1 chip leader David Fox was down to his last ~27k and open-shoved. Gabe Costner looked him up, showing AQ off. David's QT off was in bad shape. The board came A 9 6 J 4 and David was busted in 30th place, just three short of the money.

29 players remain. 27 will get paid. It is double-bubble time...

Tuesday, 20th of May 2008 03:58 PM

Big stack gets bigger: Derek Feldman got his chips in with KQ off and was called by chip leader Blake Purvis, who held pocket 6s. Derek's overcards were unable to catch Blake's pair and Derek was felted.

Blake has now extended his chip lead; he is up to about 280k.

30 players remain. Average is 83k.

Tuesday, 20th of May 2008 03:38 PM

Blake Purvis

Brian Cospolich is out. His pocket 3s ran into Chris Marsh's pocket Queens.

Philip Sparta made the mistake of getting involved with big stack Blake Purvis. Phil raised, Blake re-raised, Phil moved in and Blake made the call. Phil's KT off was trailing Blake's AQ off. The board was nothing but bricks and Phil hit the rail. With that pot, Blake was up to about 240k, good for the chip lead.

Jeff Tims

Here are a couple of sick hands I just witnessed. Parental Guidance is suggested. Small children should leave the room...

On a board of K K 7 8 , James Henson (small blind) moved all in for his last 26k. It was up to Jeff Tims (utg+1) and he tanked for a few minutes, counting out the chips it would take to call. Jeff said "Are you making a move? I think you're making a move." After a few more moments, Jeff made the call. James turned over A 9 for Ace-high. Here's the sick part: Jeff turned up A T for Ace-high, with a one-pip-better kicker. James' only hope for survival was one of three 9s left in the deck. River was the 6 and thanks to one of the sickest calls I've ever seen, Jeff Tims takes the pot, sending James home.

Beverly Cheney - busted

On the next table, Suju Abraham raised, then Beverly Cheney, last woman sitting, moved in, having him covered. Suju called all-in, showing AJ offsuit. Bevery had him crushed with pocket Kings. Here's the sick part: the flop came J J J giving Suju quads. Bev's only hope was running Kings (odds 998:1 against). No miracles here; last two were T 6 and Suju doubled through. Beverly was crippled to less than 12k in chips and busted out shortly after. With her departure, it is nothing but testosterone from here on.

Tuesday, 20th of May 2008 03:10 PM

Level 10: Blinds 1k/2k with 300 ante. Play has resumed.

Ed Corrado is not among them. He busted out just before the break, all-in with pocket 7s and ran into Blake Purvis' pocket Jacks.

Charles Kelley

Herbie Montalbano got his short-stack all-in and called by two players, who checked down the board of A K J 2 J. Charles Kelley rolled over J4 suited for trip Jacks and the other two mucked. Herbie left in disgust.

Charles Kelley has been on a huge rush and is now over 180k.

Gil Morgenstern was sent packing by Dana Diephouse's set of deuces. Dana's got about 50k.

Beverly Cheney made it 3,200 to go utg and got action from Ryan Lenaghan (button). Flop was Q 8 3 and Beverly checked, Ryan fired 5k and Bev check-raised him to 15k. Ryan let it go and Bev chipped up to about 60k.

On the next hand, Ryan got all-in with top two pair on a Q T 7 flop. Matt Stout was way behind with JT for middle pair. The the last two came 9 K giving Matt the runner-runner suckout, er, straight. Ryan has joined the ever-expanding rail.

37 players remain. Only 27 will get paid.

Tuesday, 20th of May 2008 02:01 PM

Ed Corrado

On a flop of A K Q, Ed Corrado moved all-in and got the call from Blake Purvis. Ed's KQ (two pair) were crushing Blake's KJ (one pair with gutshot). The last two cards changed nothing and Ed doubled through.

Jim Pritchard was all in with pocket Kings, only to get shown pocket Aces by Nick Ceci. The Aces held up and Jim was felted.

Drew Hart has also hit the rail.

Tim Miles

Tuesday, 20th of May 2008 01:00 PM

Allen Kessler - ousted

Allen 'Chainsaw' Kessler got his last chips in good with AK and got called by Ed Jatho holding T2 (according to Chainsaw, Ed was on tilt from the previous hand where he doubled up Tim Miles with JT (second pair) versus Tim's pocket Aces). Anywho, the flop was all blanks, but the turn and river produced running deuces and Allen was bounced.  Allen was not happy about this and words were exchanged.  Allen is recording his play and reporting it on his MySpace page, so you can check that out for all the gory details and his expert commentary.

Joseph 'JoeyTheB' Brooks (small blind) got his last chips in good with K5 suited and was looked up by Suju Abraham (big blind) who held T7 suited. A seven hit the flop leaving JoeyTheB with only three outs. It was not his day -- the last two were no help and JoeyTheB hit the rail.

Tuesday, 20th of May 2008 12:47 PM

Jimmy Tran - jilted

Last year's runner-up in this event, Clint Schafer, got all his chips in good with pocket 8s. He was facing Jonathan Little's pocket 6s and it looked like Clint was headed for a double-up, but the dreaded third six hit the flop and Clint will not be making a return visit to the final table.

Jimmy Tran got his last chips in good with pocket 9s against Lee Wilson's pocket 4s. Today isn't working out well for the short-stacks, as a 4 hit the river shipping the pot to Lee and giving Jimmy the boot.

Tim Vance (EPT Cophenhagen winner) got his last ~5,800 chips all-in and got three callers. On the turn, one player chased the others off the side-pot and was heads-up with Tim. Tim held A5 and had a gutshot with the 3 2 on the board. He could stay alive with an Ace or a 4. River was a 4 and Tim more than quadrupled-up.

Tuesday, 20th of May 2008 12:22 PM

Chef Paul Prudhomme - poached

The short stacks have not wasted any time getting their chips in the middle. These folks have already given up their last and hit the rail: Robert Jones, Matt Brady, Chef Paul Prudhomme, and Doug 'Rico' Carli.

Tuesday, 20th of May 2008 12:07 PM

Level 8: Blinds 600/1,200 with 200 ante. Play has resumed and will continue today unitl only 9 are left.
