2008 World Series of Poker - Event #26 - $1,500 Seven Card Razz - Final Table

After a 20-minute break, play continued into Level 25: Ante 10k; Bring-in 10k; Limits 40k/80k.

Chris bet the whole way with Barry calling. He got all-in on the river and showed a 65. Barry mucked and Chris doubled to over 500k.

Chris picked up another pot when Barry folded on 6th street, chipping up to over 600k.

Barry got Chris to tag along to the river and showed him a 65 to take the pot, leaving Chris with only 160k.

Chris got all in and made a 75 to double up to 320k.

Chris called Barry all the way to the river. Barry showed a 76 to take the pot. Chris had less than 160k.

Chris got his last chips in on 3rd street with (AK) 3. Barry showed (94) A. At the river, the cards were:
Chris: (AK) 3 K 8 6 (3) making an K863A;
Barry: (94) A J 4 9 (7) making a J974A.
Barry’s Jack-low was good for the win!

Barry Greenstein finished in 1st place, earning $157,619 and his third WSOP bracelet.

Chris Klodnicki finished in 2nd place, earning $97,389.

Play continued into Level 24: Ante 7k; Bring-in 10k; Limits 30k/60k.

Chris Viox was all-in on 5th street against Chris Klodnicki. Viox was drawing live with (74) 6 K 2 versus Klodnicki’s (94) 2 Q 3. Sixth street brought Viox an Ace to complete his 7642A. Klodnicki caught a 5, giving him a 95432. Chris Viox took a look at his river card and said he did not improve his hand. The other Chris would need an Ace or a 6 to bust Viox. He turned up an Ace to make the wheel and the rail went wild.

Chris Viox finished in 3rd place, earning $58,743.

Chris led the betting through 6th, then checked the river. Both players had two paint cards showing. Barry fired after he checked and Chris folded. Barry showed a T7. Chris was left with just 162k after that pot.

Chris was all-in on 6th and pulled out a 98 to beat Barry’s T8, doubling up in the process, to about 325k.

The final duo went back into raise/fold mode.

Play resumed about 9:25 with Level 23: Ante 5k; Bring-in 5k; Limits 20k/40k.

Chris K. got involved with Chris V. and came up short with a Ten against Chris V.’s 8. Chris K. was left with only 75k. Chris K. then got all-in against Barry and doubled up with an 87, back to ~155k.

Barry again led Chris V. to the river but this time Chris showed a 97 to beat Barry’s T8. Chris V. took a pot when Chris K. mucked his hand on the river after seeing Viox’s T8.

Chris K. got all-in on 5th street against Chris V. Chris K. pulled out a 9 to beat Chris V. and double up, again, to ~288k.

Chris V. got some of his chips back from Chris K. Then Chris K. doubled through Chris V., again, when he was all-in on 5th street, again, and caught a 9 to beat Chris V.’s Ten.

Barry made a 76 to take a pot from Chris K., stacking up to 905k. Chris K. was back down to 175k.

Barry fired the whole way with Chris K. calling and even raised on the river with his board showing 7 7 3 7. Chris made the call and Barry showed his A42 in the hole to make a 7-perfect. Chris mucked his 86.

Chris K. was down to ~130k and got involved with Chris V. and fired the whole way until 6th street, when he slowed down. Chris K. was showing 2 3 T 8 and Chris V. was showing A 2 K 7. Chris K. took his time on 6th street, but eventually bet (30k) leaving himself with only 18k behind. After getting their river cards Chris K. took a look, then pushed out his last chips. Chris V. called and showed (85x) to make an 87; Chris K. tabled (Q64) to make an 86 and drag the pot, doubling up.

The level came to an end and the players opted for a 30-minute dinner break. Play will resume at about 9:15pm.

As soon as the last hand was over, Barry hustled over to his seat in the 5pm tournament which is the $10,000 Limit Hold’em World Championship. He has been blinded down from his starting stack of 20k to about 15k.

Barry and Chris K. went to the river again with Barry leading and Chris calling. On the river, both checked and Barry showed an 87642. Chris mucked and Barry pulled another pot.

Barry has extended his lead over the other two:

Back into raise-and-take-it mode.

Play continued into Level 22: Ante 3k; Bring-in 5k; Limits 15k/30k.

Barry once again led Chris K. to the water’s edge. When Barry fired on the river showing 4 5 J K, Chris tanked showing 4 Q 8 K. Chris finally mucked and Barry chipped up to 800k.

Chris K. and Chris V. once against wrestled over a pot. Viox was firing and Klodnicki was calling all the way. At showime, Viox revealed his 87543, only to be stunned again when Klodnicki showed 76532 to beat him. The chip leader at the start of the final table was left with ~100k.

Chris V. then called Barry’s bets all the way to 6th street when he was all-in. Chris made a 76 to beat Barry’s 98 and double up to almost 200k. Barry was down to ~715k.

Barry fired all the way with calls from Chris V. who couldn’t beat Barry’s 97 on the river. Then Barry took Chris K. all the way to 6th street. He surrendered on the river and Barry pulled another pot.

Chris V. and Chris K. then tangled and at the river, Chris V. showed his 9-perfect (9432A) and was stunned when Chris K. showed him an 87 to take the pot away.

Players went on a 20 minute break at the end of level 20. Chip counts:

Cards were back in the air with Level 21: Ante 3k; Bring-in 3k; Limits 12k/24k.

Barry and Chris V. went to the river where Chris checked and Barry fired. Chris made the call and Barry showed him a 75. Chris mucked while Barry stacked another pot.

Play has slowed somewhat as the final three have moved into the ‘raise/fold’ portion of the program.

After a raising war, Joseph was all-in against Chris V. and was starting out behind with (64) 7 to Chris’ (A5) 7. At the river, Chris had made an 8 to beat Joseph’s 9 and send him to the rail.

Joseph Michael finished in 6th place, earning $25,661.

Brandon got his last chips in on 4th street against Chris V. Brandon’s (43) A 6 was leading Crhis’ (87) A 2, but by the river, Chris had made a 6-low and Brandon’s best was an 86.

Brandon Leeds finished in 5th place, earning $33,081.

Chris V. continued to punish the table. He took Mark Tenner to the river where he check-called Mark’s bet. Mark showed an 86542; Chris showed an 86532, just one pip better than Mark’s hand. Mark was left with less than 40k while Chris Viox continued to build his chip lead.

Mark got all in on 5th street against Chris K. but couldn’t catch a break on the river.

Mark Tenner finished in 4th place, earning $43,284.

After the break, play resumed with Level 19: Ante 2k; Bring-in 2k; Limits 8k/16k.

Archie got his last chips in on 3rd street against Brandon. As the cards ran out, Archie ended up with an 8 while Brandon made a 65, sending Archie to the payout desk.

Anargyros Karabourniotis aka Archie ‘the Greek’ Karas finished in 7th place, earning $19,478.

Chris K. got his last chips in on 5th street against Joseph. Chris K. made a 9 to beat Joseph’s Jack low, doubling up.

Barry tangled with Chris V. , who hung with him all the way to the river, where Barry checked. Chris V. fired and Barry mucked.

Barry then got involved with Chris K., again folding on the river when Chris bet. Barry was down to 160k. Chris K. has chipped up to 372k, good for the chip lead.

Chris V. went to showdown with Mark, who check-called his river bet. Chris showed an 87 and Mark mucked. Chris V. has retaken the chip lead.

The end of level 19 is approaching.

Play got underway just after 3pm with ~52 minutes remaining in Level 18: Ante 1,500; Bring-in 2k; Limits 6k/12k.

Brandon started out firing on the first hand with an Ace in the door, but Mark stuck with him. Brandon paired his ace on 4th street, then caught a Queen on 6th which slowed him down. At 6th street, Brandon was showing A A 6 Q and Mark was showing 8 2 4 8. After checking his river card, Mark fired and Brandon let it go.

Mark came out firing on the second hand and got Joseph to surrender on 4th street.

Mike completed with a 4 in the door and Archie was his only caller. Mike paired his 4 on 4th street and Archie caught a King, so both checked. Mike got a 2 to Archie's Queen on 5th; Mike bet, Archie called. 6th street brought both players a 9. Archie checked, Mike bet, and Archie called. After taking a look at his river card, Archie checked over to Mike. Mike took a look and checked behind. Mike had to play a 97 while Archie showed A37 in the hole to make a 97 and take the pot.

Archie and Barry just went to showdown and Archie's 87 was not good enough to beat the Bear's 76. Barry pulled the big pot, chipping up to 300k while the Greek was left with only 25k.

Mike Wattel, the short-stack at the start of the final table, got his last chips in on 3rd street while Barry and Chris continued to build a side pot. At the river, Chris produced a wheel to take the side and Mike mucked, so Chris got the main pot as well.

Mike Wattel finished in 8th place, earning $16,386.

As the end of level 18 arrives, Archie Karas is holding onto his last 10k in chips with an iron first. The staff are coloring up the 500 purple chips and then players will enjoy a 20-minute break.
