Sunday, 15th of June 2008 04:41 AM Berman eliminated. With his stack short and the blinds high, Lyle Berman had little option but to shove with a marginal hand. Torelli called with a K high, and was able to advance to the final four. Lyle Berman has been eliminated and will earn $54,144 for his many hours of work today.

Berman watch: Hour 2 1/2
So it's been more than two and a half hours since Lyle Berman finally finished off David Williams, earning a spot in the elite eight. Looking at the chip stacks, Berman and Torelli are about as close to dead even as you can get.
There is a handful of people still hanging out; some sweating Torelli, some sweating Berman. Brad Berman decided to break out a game of Dollar Bill Poker with some of the Deuces Cracked crew while his old man battles it out. That game ran its course and now ther's a game of Chinese running.
Sunday, 15th of June 2008 02:00 AM
Griffin gone.
After having Jonathan Jaffe all but busted, Gavin Griffin would slowly relinquish the chip lead and eventually fall to Jonathan Jaffe.
Jaffe would call a preflop raise to 25K from Griffin. After the 2-5-6 flop fell, Jaffe led out for 50K. Gavin decided to pump it up to 125K and Jaffe would call. Jd on the turn and Jaffe tossed out another 50K bet. Griffin took this chance to move all in, where he was met by a Jaffe call.
Jaffe showed J-8, having turned top pair. Griffin tabled 4-5, good for just a pair of fives and a gut shot. After the 8 rivered, Jaffe added a second pair, even though he didn't need it. Griffin is gone and Jaffe will play on Day Three.
Tran keeps rolling.
Kenny Tran had built up nearly a 2-1 chip advantage over Brandon Adams, before finally putting him at risk. Adams got the rest of his 200K in preflop with A-9 and was called by the K-J of Tran. A-K-7 on the flop and both players found a pair. The 8 on the turn inched Adams that much closer to a double up. Then the J showed on the river. Tran had found two pair and a seat in the final four.
Meanwhile...
The Berman/Torelli marathon grinds on. As of right now, Berman holds a slight lead, but the two are only seeing about a flop every 8-10 hands.
The floor official is done working and wished Berman and Torelli good luck. She informed them that the winner would be in at 4 p.m. tomorrow. Berman asked if they were supposed to get at least 12-hours off, implying that he's prepared for another six-hour match, if need be.
Sunday, 15th of June 2008 01:00 AM
Berman finally did it.
After six hours, Lyle Berman was able to punch out David Williams. Williams was down to just 75K and shoved it with 5-6. Berman made the call with A 2 and flopped the nut flush to end it. While the other three matches are well underway, a seperate clock is operating for Berman's next match with Alec Torelli.
The rail doesn't seem to have any faith in Berman. Brandon Adams was able to get some action with somebody in the Deuces Cracked crew. Adams will pocket $15K with a Berman win, or lose $10K if Torelli can dismiss the wily veteran.
Selbst rolls on.
Robert Mizrachi made it 25K to go and Selbst reraised to 75K. Mizrachi decided to ship his stack and Selbst would call.
It was Mizrachi's K-K against the A-10 of Selbst. The A-A-9 flop would give Selbst trip aces and have Mizrachi searching for a two outer. It never came and Selbst will play in the final four.
The other table continues to battle.
Kenny Tran holds a slight chip lead over Brandon Adams.
On the same table, Jonathan Jaffe was all but done vs. Gavin Griffin. Then Jaffe would pick up a heart flush on the river to double through and lessen the load to a 2-1 chip deficit.
Each player has already guaranteed themselves $54K by getting here. Those who crack the final four won't leave with any less than $108K, with a shot at the $539K first-place prize.
Sunday, 15th of June 2008 12:00 AM Round 5 1/2 Yup, Williams and Berman are still at it. After four and half hours of Round 5, the tournament staff decided to start the three Round 6 matches that don't require either Williams or Berman's participation. So Kenny Tran and Jason Adams, Gavin Griffin and Jonathan Jaffe, and Vanessa Selbst and Robert Mizrachi began playing around 11:30. Alec Torelli is getting board waiting on his opponent, and has started playing cards with the dealer. Saturday, 14th of June 2008 11:00 PM Staring Contest David Williams and Lyle Berman are approaching four hours of heads up (in)action, and both seem to be in it for the long haul. We've seen very few hands in the last hour. Instead, it's been a heart-pounding game of pass the blinds. Should these two ever decide to play a hand past the flop, these Round 6 match ups will take to the felt: Brandon Adams v. Kenny Tran
Gavin Griffin v. Jonathan Jaffe
Robert Mizrachi v. Vanessa Selbst
Alec Torelli v. David Williams/Lyle Berman Saturday, 14th of June 2008 10:00 PM Selbst Survives There will be no Mizrachi v. Mizrachi death match. Vanessa Selbst ground Michael Mizrachi out of the tournament and will look to take out his brother in the next round. Selbst check-raised a flop of Q 6 3 and moved all in after a 4 on the turn. The Grinder called with all of his chips holding Q-5 for top pair and a straight draw. Vanessa held 9-6 for middle pair and was in bad shape until a 9 on the river gave her two pair. Selbst reached the final four in this event last year, and she'd love to go all the way this year to become the first woman to win two WSOP bracelets in the same year. Kenny Tran defeated Roman Paradiso, and will take on Jason Adams next round. Tran bet out on an A 9 8 flop, and Paradiso shoved. Kenny called with 9-8 for two pair, and Roman's 9-7 wasn't able to runner-runner its way to a win. A few minutes later, Jonathan Jaffe eliminated opponent Michael McNeil. Jaffe will face Gavin Griffin in the last round of Day 2. David Williams and Lyle Berman are the only pair still heads up. They took a brief break a few minutes ago and are back to the grind now. The winner gets the right to play Alec Torelli in Round 6. Saturday, 14th of June 2008 09:00 PM Patel and Patgorski Punched Out Brandon Adams bested DeucesCracked poker guru Emil Patel in just over an hour. Vanessa Selbst is now on her own to defend the ducks' honor. Adams called Patel's min-raise to see the flop come 7 4 3 . It was check-check before the 5 on the turn. Adams checked again, Patel bet, and Adams raised to 32k. The river brought a J , and Adams bet 50,000. Patel moved in with A-6 for the straight. Tough luck for him, because Adams held 8-6 for the nut straight and the Round 5 W. Gavin Griffin took out John Patgorski without Patgorski even realizing it in the most neon match of the day. Patgorski check-called Griffin's 24k bet on an A Q T flop. Then he check-called Gavin's 45k bet on the 5 turn. The river was the T , and John checked again. Griffin bet 100,000, and after some thought (but apparently no counting) Patgorski called. Griffin turned over Q T for a full house. Patgorski mucked and then counted out his chips only to discover that he didn't have any left. He does have $36,096 now. Saturday, 14th of June 2008 08:00 PM Two Down, Six Still Going Alec Torelli was the first to move on to the next round. Torelli torpedoed opponent Scott Montgomery in half an hour. Torelli moved all in on a flop of 9 8 2 , and Montgomery called, leaving himself 10,000. Scott showed T 9 for top pair, and Torelli, with A Q , was counting on another . The turn was a 7 , giving Montgomery an open ended straight draw, but it wasn't to be. The 7 on the river gave Torelli the nut flush. Montgomery lost his remaining 10k in short order, and Torelli scored a spot in the Elite Eight. Montgomery, and everyone else eliminated in Round 5, take home $36,096. Robert Mizrachi also secured his place in the next round, defeating Jonas Entin. On a T 4 3 flop, Mizrachi bet out and Entin moved all in. All he had was 7-3, but the bottom pair was far behind Robert's K-T for top pair. The 4 on the turn and the T on the river gave Mizrachi a full house. Robert's quick win only ups the tension in the match on the other end of the table between Michael Mizrachi and Vanessa Selbst. Robert will play the winner. Saturday, 14th of June 2008 07:00 PM Round 5 Round 5 Round 5 Picture the ring girls again. The Sweet Sixteen matches are about to begin. Only eight will survive. Each player begins with 320,000 in chips. The blinds start at 1,500-3,000. In this round, levels have been expanded to 30 minutes. Here are the match ups: Brandon Adams v. Emil Patel Roman Paradiso v. Kenny Tran John Patgorski v. Gavin Griffin Michael McNeil v. Jonathan Jaffe Alec Torelli v. Scott Montgomery David Williams v. Lyle Berman Robert Mizrachi v. Jonas Entin Vanessa Selbst v. Michael Mizrachi Saturday, 14th of June 2008 05:00 PM Grinder In, E-Dog Out Kenny Tran sucker punched Erick Lindgren, eliminating him from the tournament. Don't feel too badly though. E-dog picks up his fourth cash of the Series. Tran took most of Lindgren's chips when he turned a straight to double up and leave Erick with on 16k. Lindgren put all of it in the pot pre-flop with Q J and Tran looked him up with T 3 . The flop was a good one for Kenny: T 7 3 . A Queen on the turn meant Lindgren could survive with a Jack or another Queen, but the Ace on the river sent him packing. Michael Mizrachi finally pinned Matt Gianetti to end Round 4. Mizrachi built up a sizable chip lead, then finished him off with A-K over Gianetti's A-6. The Grinder will play powerhouse Vanessa Selbst in the next round. If Mizrachi beats Selbst and his brother Robert defeats Jonas Mentin, Round 6 will feature a Mizrachi v. Mizrachi fratricide-tastic fight. Saturday, 14th of June 2008 04:00 PM Down for the Count The eliminations keep coming faster than I can write them down. Emil Patel picked up a flush on the river to bust opponent Michael Banducci. Oh well. Banducci still gets $21,657 to go with the bracelet he picked up last week. John Patgorski's pocket cowboys held up against the A-J suited of Thomas Lutz to send Lutz home from poker's big dance. Patgorski will go on to play Gavin Griffin in Round 5. After taking out Anna Wroblewski, new-kid-on-the-block Scott Montgomery triumphed over Isaac Haxton. With his chip stack looking a little thin, Haxton was all in with K-J, but it was no match for Montgomery's A-K. Haxton picks up his third check of the Series. Montgomery will be back at 7:00 to play Alex Torelli, who just defeated Brian Roberts. Michael McNeil had Andy Black all in and on the ropes. Andy's J T lost the race to McNeil's A 6 when an Ace on the flop gave McNeil top pair and a rivered flush added insult to injury. In the last few minutes, Brandon Adams knocked out Jason Rosenkrantz to move on to meet Emil Patel in Round 5. Jonas Entin busted Evan Sofer, and Entin will be facing Robert Mizrachi next. Mizrachi's A-T was enough to defeat opponent Jean Moussa's A-7. Lyle Berman took out David Podgurski and will go on to play David Williams. Only two heads up matches are still going. Michael Mizrachi is grinding it out against Matt Gianetti, and Erick Lindgren and Kenny Tran are not going anywhere in the near future. Saturday, 14th of June 2008 03:00 PM Round 4 Round 4 Round 4 Pretend that headline was flashed by some spandex-clad ring girls. It's heads up match time in the Brasilia room, and the punches are falling fast. After surviving three brutal rounds of elimination yesterday, 32 players are back today for 16 heads up matches. Vanessa Selbst picked up the first win of the afternoon, knocking Cliff Cantor out for the count. Looking at a board of 5 4 2 9, the pair managed to get all the chips in the middle. Cantor had A-5 for a pair, but Selbst's A-A was out in front. A King on the river earned Selbst the first spot in Round 5. Her next match could be a real grind as Selbst will play the winner of the Michael Mizrachi v. Matt Gianetti fight. Sweet Sixteen matches will begin at 7:00 pm PDT. David Williams was the second to get a bid to Round 5, defeating Daniel Stern with two blows to the head. First, Williams rivered the nut flush to chip up to around 190,000. Everyone began the day with 160,000 in chips. A few minutes later, on a Q 7 6 flop, Stern check-raised to 16k. Williams came over the top to make it 40k, and Stern moved all in with pocket Aces. Williams called with Q-7 for two pair. A 7 on the turn filled his boat, and a King on the river bounced Stern from the ring. Next Williams will play the winner of the match between Lyle Berman and David Podgurski. Gavin Griffin and Alexander Kostritsyn got it all in on a 4 3 2 flop. Kostritsyn's pocket Kings were up against Griffin's A J . The T changed nothing, and the K made Kostritsyn a tournament-ending set. Ouch. Griffin will play either John Patgorski or Thomas Lutz. Sammy Farha has finally been eliminated after an incredible run of luck last night. He was all in with J-4 after a Q Q 4 flop, but Roman Paradiso's K-K was enough for the KO and a spot in Round 5. Those who are eliminated in Round 4 still pick up a check for $21,657. Making it to Round 5 guarantees at least $36,096.
