After an hour of the most entertaining heads-up battle of the WSOP, thus far, it's over.
Selbst entered heads-up play with a large chip lead and would only add to that lead early, after some crazy play from Pickering.
Pickering, an Australian club owner, decided he would play blind for a while. In one particular hand, Pickering had pot raises pre and post-flop called by Selbst, before she shoved the turn, forcing Pickering to peek. He looked down at what he said was eight-high, then let it go. Selbst had crippled Pickering.
Pickering would manage to fight back, doubling up a couple times, before eventually taking the lead. Pickering would get it all in with bottom set, trying to avoid half the deck as Selbst held Q J 9 4 on the 10 5 8 board. The turn was the 8 , good for a boat and a double up for Jamie.
Pickering would then take a stab at the bracelet, getting it in with aces to Selbst's middle pair. Selbst would pick up a second pair on the turn, then a brick on the river to retake the lead.
"I was that close to a bracelet," said Pickering. "What do you want me to do?"
The crowd had been five people deep on the rail and around the table. Selbst's DuecesCracked buddies cheering on both Vanessa and Jamie, whom they seem to have grown fond of. Pickering was often seen handing out high fives and fist pounds to Selbst's cheering section. Vanessa was overheard saying that they all needed to go party with Jamie later.
They'll have time to make those party plans now.
For once, we had a limp and a check preflop. The dealer spread the 7 8 10 flop. Pickering checked to Selbst, who pushed out 90K. Pickering would raise with the rest of his stack and Vanessa would call.
Selbst: 9 2 J J Pickering: 10 A Q 9
Selbst held the nut straight and a club redraw. She would need neither. After the 5 turned and the A fell on the river, her jack high straight was good.
Jamie Pickering will take home $145,459 as runner-up.
Vanessa Selbst has survived an entertaining final table to grab the $227,933 top-prize and her first gold bracelet.

Selbst would continue her aggressive play, even after losing the chip lead. That lead her to picking up a couple nice pots off of both players to reclaim the top spot in the chip counts. Then she went to battle with Statkiewicz again.
Selbst made it 60K to go and Statkiewicz would come along for the ride. J 10 8 on the flop and Selbst moved 90K in. After Stan found out a pot raise would put him all in, he did so. Much to Stan's dismay, Selbst would insta-call.
Statkiewicz turned over A-Q-10-8, for bottom two. Selbst showed A 5 6 4 , haing flopped the spades. K on the turn and a deuce on the river didn't fill Stan up and he's now gone.
Stan Statkiewicz has finished in 3rd-place for a $88,063 payout.
Chips entering heads-up:
Vanessa Selbst -- 1,800,000 Jamie Pickering -- 465,000

It's a new ballgame. Selbst has dumped chips to both Pickering and Statkiewicz, losing the chip lead in the process.
First, Statkiewicz doubled through.
Statkiewicz opened the action with a raise to 45K. Pickering mucked, but Selbst made the call. 8 7 3 on the flop and Selbst check-raised Statkiewicz's pot bet, enough to put the Itasca, Ill., native all in. Statkiewicz would call.
Selbst turned over 5-6-7-8, all spades, flopping top two and a straight draw. She held the lead, after Statkiewicz turned over A 10 A 8 , but Stan had both a diamond draw and aces going for him. Selbst would improve to a straight after the 9 turned, but the 10 on the river completed Statkiewicz's flush, allowing for a double up.
Selbst would then double up Pickering.
Jamie Pickering would check-call bets from Selbst after the A-2-2 flop and the 3s turn. By the time the 6 rivered, Pickering would check-raise, pushing his 195K over the top of Selbst's 95K bet. Selbst would call and Pickering would show A-A-Q-Q, having flopped aces full of deuces.
The three are now tightly bunched in the chip counts:
Stanley Statkiewicz - 845000 Vanessa Selbst - 787000 Jamie Pickering - 638000
The three are now going on a short break.

Another hour, another two players sent to the rail.
First it was Eugene Todd.
Selbst would open with another raise, making it 35K. Schultz and Pickering would call, before Todd shoved his last 175K. Only Selbst would call.
It was Selbst's K-J-J-9 trailing the A-A-Q-6 of Todd. Trailing until the J-8-2 flop came, giving Selbst top set. By the river, Selbst had improved to jacks full of deuces, bouncing Todd.
Eugene Todd pockets $59,054 for finishing in 5th-place.
Selbst would strike again, this time at the expense of Thom Schultz's tourney life.
Selbst would call a preflop raise from the short-stacked Schultz, who sat on the button. The 10-6-4 flop fell and Selbst would move all in, placing the pressure on Schultz. Schultz would call, talbing A-K-Q-6 for just a pair of sixes. Selbst showed J-10-8-6, having hit top two pair. The dealer ran out a 5 and a 9, neither would connect with Schultz, giving another pot to Selbst.
Thom Schultz has been eliminated in 4th-place, earning $72,004.
We're three handed.
Chip counts:
Vanessa Selbst - 1,500,000 Stanley Statkiewicz - 380,000 Jamie Pickering - 311,000
With six eliminations in the first three-hours of final table play and Selbst controlling more than 2/3 the chips in play, we may be looking at a short day.

Down to five players. Here's how we got there.
Action folds to Eugene Todd, who limps from the SB. Randolph checks his option to see the 2sAd6c flop. Then all the chips got in. It was Randolph's A-6-5-2 vs. the 2-2-Q-7 of Todd. Bricks on 4th and 5th street meant Randolph was stuck with three pair, while Todd's set of deuces would take it down.
Mel Randolph will leave with 7th-place prize money, a cool $36,261.
Just minutes later, Craig Natte would join Randolph on the rail.
Again it was Selbst raising it up, making it 29K to go from MP. Natte shoved the rest of his stack from the CO. Selbst would call, holding A-A-8-5. Natte complained of Selbst always having A-A, then tabled K-Q-J-7. Natte would not find the help he needed. K-4-3-6-5 on the board and Selbst's aces played.
Craig Natte has earned $46,621 for being bounced in 6th-place.
Chip counts:
Vanessa Selbst - 1,207,000 Thom Schultz - 324,000 Stanley Statkiewicz - 290,000 Jamie Pickering - 284,000 Eugene Todd - 165,000
Players have just returned from break to level 18, with 6K/12K blinds.

In keeping with the fast pace of the previous two days, we've already lost two in the first hour.
The 5K/10K blinds didn't leave Ken Lairson much room to gamble. Lairson started the day with 16,900 chips, not even enough to make a standard raise. He soon found himself committed in the BB, with Vanessa Selbst raising into him. It would be just Selbst and Lairson in the pot.
Selbst tabled Q Q A 7 , well out in front of Lairson's 8-7-5-2. The dealer would run out 3-5-10-10-6, meaning Selbst's queens held up.
Ken Lairson is out in 9th place, worth $20,721.
Another 45 minutes would pass, before we lost another one.
Jamie Robbins first watched a couple players limp in, then he shoved from the SB for about 50K. Jamie Pickering would tank, before making the call with his 7-8-9-J. Robbins tabled A K Q 10 , but couldn't connect on the 8-4-5-6-Q board. Pickering could, flopping a pair of eights to eliminate Robbins.
Jamie Robbins is our 8th-place finisher, good for $28,491 at the payouts desk.
