Many of the players will make their way down the hall to the "O" Theatre, where the WPT Ceremony of Champions will take place. During the ceremony, WPTE will present nearly 100 WPT event winners with titanium and diamond bracelets from Tiffany & Co. Many former champions finished up the day in cocktail party attire.
Day 3 begins tomorrow at 12 p.m. PST. Join Poker Pages for continued live coverage.
Monday, 21st of April 2008 08:40 PM
Jack McClelland asked last year's champ Carlos Mortensen to do the honors of drawing the hands card. Players seemed to be very forgiving of his bucket hat, but not so much of his card drawing. The 9 he selected was the biggest in the deck, which earned a lot of moans from the field.
Nine hands and we're done.
Monday, 21st of April 2008 08:30 PM
One last turn on the tournament floor.
Gus Hansen and Scotty Nguyen were carrying racks of chips to the Fontana Room. They were at the last remaining table in the main poker room. Players are now under one roof.

| Bryan Devonshire | |
Looks like we have a new chip leader in Bryan Devonshire. Devo picked up most of his chips after a big call against Phil Galfond, who recently arrived at the table with a big stack.
Devonshire made it 6K to go and saw two callers, including Galfond in the CO. The flop came K-7-6 with a couple clubs. Bryan bet out 16K and Galfond would see the turn with him. The 2 on the turn earned a check-call of 28K from Devonshire. The river A brought another Devonshire check and another Galfond bet, this time for 46K Devonshire would tank, before making the call with K-J. Galfond had just ten high.
Devonshire is up to almost 400K.
JC Tran was able to take a big pot from Tom Dwan.
With 6 4 A 9 5 on the board, Tran led out for 35K into a 60K+ pot. Dwan would call, leaving himself with just 38K behind. Tran would table 4 4 and Dwan would muck.
The clock has been stopped with 20 minutes left and the tournament staff is readying itself to draw the remaining hands card.
Monday, 21st of April 2008 07:28 PM
We're now in level 10. New blinds of 1,000-2,000 with a 300 ante.
In the last minutes of level nine, both Chris Ferguson and Michael Binger were seen heading to the rail.
The monitor shows 230 players remaining.
Monday, 21st of April 2008 07:09 PM
Last break of the day. Back in 15.
Monday, 21st of April 2008 06:23 PM
It folds around to the blinds and Dario Minieri makes it 5500 from the SB. Roy Winston is in the BB and makes the call with 45K behind. The flop comes 10 J J and Dario checks. Winston pushes all in.
"I got a jack," said Dario.
"Jack is good," said Winston.
Dario smiles and mucks, while Winston flashes his cards. The dealer turns over the Oracle's 10 9 for the whole table to see.
Not long after, Winston was able to double up after flopping a set of queens and is now back over 100K.
Bryan Devonshire isn't letting the earlier hit with A-K affect him. Devonshire was able to scoop a 20K pot from Negreanu and another player to chip back up around 150K.
Last season's LAPC winner, Eric Hershler, was able to double up with aces through Robert Mizrachi's big slick. Tom Dwan wasn't as fortunate with his rockets, as Cory Carroll was able to river a club flush to take everything from Dwan but 60K and his pink hat.
More than half of the field has busted and we're down from 545 to 270.
Monday, 21st of April 2008 05:39 PM
We're entering level nine, which brings 800-1,600 blinds and
an ante of 200.
Monday, 21st of April 2008 05:27 PM
Once again, it's break time.
Monday, 21st of April 2008 05:15 PM
Some recent eliminations; Erica Schoenberg, Amnon Filippi, John Duthie and Freddy Deeb.
Monday, 21st of April 2008 04:27 PM
Bryan Devonshire, fresh off his runner-up finish at the WPC in Reno, came up on the short end of a 100K pot.
After a series of raises and re-raises, Devonshire pushes out about 50K, forcing his unknown opponent to an all in decision. His opponent would tank and eventually, floor was called to start the clock. The countdown triggered the player to make the call. Much to the suprise of the crowd that had gathered, he would turn over K-K to Devo's A-K. Devonshire couldn't find an ace and the kings had doubled up. Devo still holds on to a healthy stack of 10K chips.
Monday, 21st of April 2008 04:00 PM
New level, new price. 600-1,200 blinds with a 200 ante.
Monday, 21st of April 2008 03:42 PM
The WPT's unofficial chip counts have Robert Mizrachi as the chip leader, with about 260K. He is followed by Gus Hansen, Tom Dwan and defending champ Carlos Mortensen, who are all over 200K.
Monday, 21st of April 2008 03:36 PM
After seeing just 100 or so players eliminated in Day 1 (only 33 in Day 1B), we're already nearing that number in the first two levels of Day 2. The board is showing 330 remaining, down from the 421 who began the day.
Monday, 21st of April 2008 03:06 PM
A welcome sight at the WPT tables is the return of Howard Lederer, Chris Ferguson and Andy Bloch. The trio were among those who were boycotting WPTE due to the use of their images in WPT promotions. The lawsuit was settled last week and the afore mention players showed up for the $25K championship. Annie Duke and Phil Gordon were also part of the lawsuit, but are not participating this week. Joe Hachem and Greg Raymer dropped their involvement in the lawsuit before the settlement. Hachem is competing today, but Raymer is a no-show.
Unfortunately, for Lederer, his return to the WPT was a short one. The Professor ran his queens into the aces of Steve Dannenmann, ending his run in Day 2.
Other notable eliminations; Allen Kessler, Shannon Shorr and WPT Invitational Winner Van Nguyen (wife of Men the Master)..
Monday, 21st of April 2008 02:33 PM
Layne Flack was eliminated earlier from a table that featured Steve Wong, Marco Traniello, Mimi Tran, Rhynie Campbell, Kathy Liebert, Hoyt Corkins, Jon Friedberg and Billy Baxter.
Flack can drown his sorrows with Phill Hellmuth, who ran his jacks into Nick Binger's pocket kings to go broke.
Monday, 21st of April 2008 02:08 PM
They're back. New level; 500-100 blinds, 100 ante.
Monday, 21st of April 2008 02:02 PM
Level six is done. Players are on their first 15 min break of the day.
In the level's closing minutes, Clonie Gowen lost a big chuck of her stack. With K 10 3 K on the board, her opponent pushed in his last 22K holding A Q and Gowen would call.
"Good call," said her opponent. Problem was, Gowen's A J was behind. After the river fell K , Gowen would see the 80K pot shipped to the man in the 10 seat.

| Tom "durrr" Dwan, with Day 2 hat | |
A crowd is on the rail, surrounding the table featuring Mike Sexton, Erick Lindgren, Dan Shak, Raymond Davis, Roy Winston and the man behind the Tom Dwan hat bet, Alan Sass. (Dwan is no longer in a banana hat, but rather some sort of pink feathered cap.)
James Van Alstyne final tabled this event in '06 and will start today with Andy Black, David Grey, Kido Pham and Alan Goehring at his table.
Former WSOP Main Event champs Chris Ferguson and Berry Johnston drew David Chiu and Chad Brown's table to start Day 2.
Joe Cassidy, Surinder Sunar, David Benyamine, Anna Wroblewski and Sam Farha will here a lot of the word "baby", as they share the felt with Scotty Nguyen.
Monday, 21st of April 2008 01:06 PM
Once again, we have a lot of tough tables. Some notables in the Fontana Room:
Michael Mizrachi, David Ulliot, Joe Hachem and Barny Boatman will share the felt.
Danny Wong, Mike Matusow, Alex Bolotin and Jerry Yang occupy table 56.
Jordan Morgan will have to face Vincent Procopio, Freddy Deeb and Vanessa Rousso to start the day.
PokerPages' Brian Devonshire will have to battle Daniel Negreanu and Eli Elezra.
Monday, 21st of April 2008 12:53 PM
There are 43 tables in action; 20 in the Fontana room and 23 in the main poker room. There are more than 20 tables in the Fontana Room, the reasoning behind placing the majority of the tables in the poker room is unknown.
Monday, 21st of April 2008 12:15 PM
