EPT Scandinavian Open from Copenhagen, Denmark, presented by PokerStars - Day 1A and 1B Summary
A total of 460 players took to the Casino Copenhagen felt during Days 1A and 1B of the EPT Scandinavian Open. Just 170 will return for Day 2 after we saw 82 and 88 players survive 1A and 1B, respectively.
The buy-in for the tournament was 50,000 DKK (~$9,900 USD) to create a prize pool of 21,086,400 DKK (~$4.5 mil USD).
Here's a look at the final table payouts:
1 - 6,220,488 DKK (~$1.2 mil USD) 2 - 3,521,429 DKK 3 - 2,045,381 DKK 4 - 1,560,394 DKK 5 - 1,286,270 DKK 6 - 1,012,147 DKK 7 - 801,283 DKK 8 - 569,333 DKK
PokerStars pro Katja Thater saw her EPT dreams crushed as her opponent hit trips on the river to crack her aces and send the German packing. As for others in the PokerStars stable, Daniel Negreanu, Tom McEvoy and PCA champ Bertrand "Elky" Grosspellier each failed to survive Day 1. They were joined on the rail by Tony G, Andy Black and new BetFair signee Sorel "Imper1um" Mizzi.
Many pros remain in the field, including EPT Dortmund winner Mike "Timex" McDonald, who found a set of queens on the river to crack his opponents kings late in the day. Former Scandinavian Open champ Noah Boeken, Rolf Slotboom, Thor Hansen, Bill Chen and Alexander Kravchenko were among those bagging chips at the end of the night.
Dane Peter Eastgate bagged the most chips heading into Day 2.
