Here are the counts for the chip leaders and some others:

Level 7: Blinds 250/500 with 50 antes. Play has resumed.

End of level 6 and time for a break. 38 tables remain, so at most, there are 380 players staying alive. That's still a lot of bodies.

John Phan raised to 1,500 and seat 9 came over the top for 6,600. John made the call and before the flop went out, seat 9 moved all-in in the dark. After seeing the flop of J 7 2, John made the call. Seat 9 held AK (two overcards) while John held 7 6 for middle pair. Last two cards came 9 8 and John took the pot, sending another one to the rail. With that pot, John was up to about 120k.

Ryan Daut is out. Matt 'Allinat420' Stout is out. Kyle Bowker has been bounced. Tom Dwan is done.

TJ Cloutier got his last chips in with pocket 7s only to run into the pocket Queens of Bruce McCarthy. No miracle for TJ and he was busted.

On a flop of 6 5 4 , seat 8 moved in and MJ Bernstein made the call, showing pocket 4s for bottom set. Unfortunately, his opponent held 3 2 for the flopped straight. MJ needed the board to pair, but the last two cards were K 7 and he was felted.

On a flop of T 9 2 , Vanessa Rousso put Carl Restifo all-in. He made the call, showing J 8 for the open-ended straight-flush draw. Vanessa held A 4 for the nut flush draw. Carl would need a Queen or 7 to make the straight or straight-flush, or a non-club Jack or 8 to make a pair. Despite all those outs, the last two cards came 3 T and Vanessa took the pot with Ace-high, sending Carl to the rail.

Level 6: Blinds 200/400 with 50 antes. Play has resumed.

One player noticeably absent from today's field is Glyn 'Ratchet' Banks. He did not play so is not here for me to photograph, so I had to get this artist's sketch.

That's the end of level 5 and it is time for a 75-minute dinner break. 42 tables remain, so somewhere between 420 and 430 players are still in the hunt.

Chris Beal is now the chip leader with 142k. Lou Esposito is next with ~130k. Michael Roderick is third with ~115k.

Jamie Gold has busted out. He was sitting to Kathy Liebert's right. Kathy said "I called him down with King-high." And it was good. Then she came over the top of his opening raise enough to put him all in and he called, showing AK. Kathy held pocket Kings and got the rest of his chips.

Victor Ramdin min-raises the opener to 2k, then Matt Casterella jacks it on up to 7k. Victor then hits it again to 35k straight and Matt calls all-in, showing pocket 9s. Victor's pocket Jacks were in the lead and the board did not change anything. Matt was busted and Victor was approaching 60k.

Allen Kessler ran his pocket Queens into pocket Kings and has departed.

Lou Esposito managed to get his flopped quads to hold up against an opponent with pocket Queens, sending another player to the rail.

On a board of 4 4 2 Q with two hearts, Hevad Khan got all in against an opponent with the flush draw. River was a brick and Hevad doubled-up, quietly. Apparently he has turned over a new leaf after watching himself on the WSOP Main Event coverage on ESPN.

Rich Belsky has departed.

On the turn with a board of K 5 4 9, Matt Brady fired at the pot and after a bit of thought,TJ let it go.  Matt had a set and TJ said he had a lower set.  After losing that pot, TJ was left with only ~10k.

Erick Lindgren and Chris Reslock have both busted out.

Barry Greenstein has busted out at the hands of Eric Dellaquila.  On a flop of T 5 4 with two hearts, all the chips went in.  Barry held A T  for top pair/top kicker, but Eric held pocket 5s for middle set.  Barry was busted but took the time to sign a copy of his book, Ace on the River, for Eric.

507 players generated a total prize pool of $4,917,900. The final 54 will get paid as follows:

Adam Gerber, who won the US Poker Championship at the Taj Mahal last year is in today's field. This is the first major event he has played since then.  I also missed a few others in the crowd:  Ted Lawson, John Myung, Young Phan, Andy Philachack, James Sowers, and Layne Flack.

Raj Patel is gonzo. He held pocket Queens and got all in against Michael Roderick on a flop of 9 5 3. Michael held pocket 5s for the set and took most of Raj's chips. Raj busted out soon after. I believe Michael is the new chip leader with about 95k.

Level 3: Blinds 75/150. Play has resumed.

In addition to the prize money, the winner of this event will also receive a VERY cool trophy.  This 2008 Harley-Davidson Street Glide courtesy of Harley-Davidson Wildwood & Millville.

Level 2 is in the books and players are out in the hall, taking a well-deserved 15 minute break.

Jonathan Little has also hit the rail. He ran his AK into the pocket Aces of Mike Gracz, who now has about 57k. Bill 'the Stunning One' Edler has also taken his leave. HIs AQ flopped top pair/top kicker, but his opponent had flopped a set and took all of Bill's chips.

In early action, Nick Schulman's stack was whacked when his pocket 5s flopped QUADS and he lost the hand to a rivered straight flush. Too bad there are no bad-beat jackpots in tournament poker! Although that hand left him with some chips, he was busted soon after.

John Phan's pocket Jacks evolved into a full house, cracking his opponent's Broadway straight. John is now up to ~43k.

I'll make a pass through the room once things settle down, (lots of players are still arriving) but from my media perch here high (about 8 feet) above the tournament floor, I can see quite a few names. The Borgata Winter Open Championship Event will get underway shortly after 11am today. Tournament Director Tab Duchateau is expecting somewhere in the neighborhood of 500 players.

Players will start with 30,000 chips and levels are 75 minutes long. Late registrations will be accepted through the end of level 2, so it will be after 2pm before we get final numbers.
