Event 23 - $1,070 LHE day 1
Thursday, 23rd of August 2007 01:00 AM
Our field is set. On a flop of 7-J-7, our unknown bubble boy puts his last 200 in the pot and got called by a player with pocket 9's. The A-Q of the bubble boy needed some help. The turn was the 3 and the river was a 6. We are down to 18 players and they are bagging and tagging their chips and heading home.
I will try to post chip counts and seating assignments in the early morning.

21 players and nobody wants to go home (duh). On one of the tables, we saw a board of 5-K-J-3-5 and the shortstack player tosses in his last 800. His opponent calls and asks the all-in player, "you got king jack?" as he turns up his aces up. The all-in player silently says, "quads" and turns up pocket 5's!!! That must be a nice feeling when you get down to the felt in a hand.

We are down to 22 players and need to knock out 4. I keep hearing everyone talking about making it to the money, but the ones who are talking about it have good sized stacks.

The action has increased and the tables have decreased. We are now at 3 tables with 27 players.

We have reached another part of the tournament. The part where you could hear a pin drop. 4 tables of players and now the field can see the bubble situation they are getting into. Everytime a dealer announces an empty seat, every player looks around to see who the latest casualty is.
the other reason it may be so quiet in here is that Kenna James has been sent home for marshmellows with his children. He always likes to light up a room when he enter, but leaves with a whimper when he's done early. It's like one of my readers told me in an earlier e-mail, "Yes, he is great guy (from what I see on TV) and good for poker." Sir, the television only shows half of his good nature and poker definitely benefits from him.

We are now at 4 tables which means we need to lose 18 players before we can call it a night.

Our chipleader at this point is Raymond Davis who has 21,900. He has been a bit animated as usual and looks to coast into the second day. His play has been aggressive.

I just sat down at my computer to type in this update and I found a note on my computer that says," Kenna gives a shoutout to his wife Marsha and his kids, who are home roasting Marshmellows and taking in the live action updates. He has 13,200." So, here you go marsha and kids!

We are down to 5 tables of play and need to get to 2 to end day. Kenna James just got moved to another table and he's singing all the way to the new table with 9k in his rack!

Thanks David for the correction. In my haste I posted that this was Barry Shulman's first event and IT'S NOT!! He actually was the first person out in the money last night at the EO event. MY BAD!!! But the problem now, is that he's not here anymore!

The players are now on a break and will return to 100-200 blinds with limits at 200-400. Limit tournaments have a tendency to start out really slow and pick up the pace later in the evening as the blinds get bigger. This tournament is no different. This new level that is upon us is usually the turning point in the size of the field. We are racing off the green 25 chips and now the players are left with 100 and 500 chips which will make for small looking stacks. Now the bullying begins!
Wednesday, 22nd of August 2007 06:17 PM
We are down to 8 tables of 9 handed play. The field will play down to the final 18 and then we'll conclude the day 1 festivities. Kenna James is still in the tournament and quite relaxed with his massage.

This is Barry Shulman's first Legends tournament for this year. He's got 2,300, so he needs to get to work on the stack sze.

This is limit and the blinds are increasing at a snail's pace, but don't tell David Pham that. He was the first person out of the tournament today. Probably up to his usual table bullying.

Some notables include: Kenna James, Barry Shulman, David "The Dragon" Pham, and Frankie O'Dell.

We have 122 players which means the prize pool will be $118,340. The Bike will take $10k of that and award a seat to the winner of this event.

Cards are in the air!

The cards are in the air for the Limit Hold'em event. So far we have 100 or so players and they will all receive 3,000 tournament chips. The blinds are starting out at 25-25 with limits at 25-50. Each level will increase every hour. |
