Event 21 - $2,090 NLHE day 1
Tuesday, 21st of August 2007 12:42 AM Raymond Davis had been aggressive for the entire bubble time. The action folded to him and he made the raise to 2,500. His opponent in the BB peeked down at his cards and decided to come over the top of Raymond and put him all-in. Raymond called and the hands were exposed. Raymond had A-9 and his opponent had pocket J's. The flop was K-7-4, the turn was another 4 and the river was a 9. Raymond Davis is our bubble boy and everyone else is done for the night. They will return at 7:15 p.m. tomorrow and resume play. Be sure to keep up with all the action here at Pokerpages.com! Tuesday, 21st of August 2007 12:25 AM We are down to 19 so the hand for hand is now in effect! Tuesday, 21st of August 2007 12:17 AM 3 players were in a hand, 2 of them all-in, and the board was 3-7-3-5-Q. The player who wasn't all-in turned up pocket A's and the other two were sent to the rail. We are down to 21 players and need to select 3 unlucky players to be cut from the tables to get in the money. Monday, 20th of August 2007 11:42 PM We have moved down to 3 tables and the players know that this is bubble time! We will pay out 2 tables worth so one third of this field will NOT get the frogskins, dough, cheese, benjamins, yen, etc. Monday, 20th of August 2007 11:31 PM Pre-flop and short stacked, David Pham puts his last 3,800 in the pot and gets the call from his opponent who has already invested 1,500 in the pot. David turns up A-K and his opponent has J 7 . The flop comes J-3-9r, the turn is a 7 and the river is the 6. David Pham is busted! He's been playing so well these past few weeks.
Monday, 20th of August 2007 10:07 PM The field has gotten very hushed and concentrated. We can see a light at the end of this tunnel and most of the players are feeling the bubble start to form. Monday, 20th of August 2007 09:47 PM The blinds are now at 200-400 with a 75 ante. The field is down to 41, sitting at 5 tables. We Monday, 20th of August 2007 09:29 PM Just as I speak of Shannon and John, things have changed. Shannon is now sitting on the 15k stack that "Miami" John had and John is no longer at the table.
Monday, 20th of August 2007 09:02 PM Living proof that Shannon Shorr is in this tournament still:
AND he's sitting at the table with "Miami" John. John has gathered in quite a bit of chips in the last hour. He's up to 15k We are down to 6 tables of action. So we need to ditch 4 of them to see who our send day players will be. Monday, 20th of August 2007 07:57 PM Some chip updates thus far: "Miami" John Cernuto: 7k Nam Le: 14k David Pham: 10k J.C. Tran: 6k we still have 8 tables so the action has slowed down a bit. The blinds are at 100-200 with a 25 ante. Monday, 20th of August 2007 07:10 PM We are down to 8 tables and the action is that of a re-buy tournament. These people are busting out much faster than usual. Monday, 20th of August 2007 06:37 PM Jaime Gold is no longer in his seat. I spoke with one of the guys that was sitting with him and he was saying that Jaime was playing rather odd in this event. He would show a wide variety of hands. Some were strong, but most were weak and that's what did him in. Monday, 20th of August 2007 06:15 PM Ok! Shannon is still in. He got moved to another table and has his back to me so I didn't know it was him. It looked like he met his poker maker since he wasn't in the seat and David's stack got bigger. Monday, 20th of August 2007 06:05 PM The seat next to David Pham is vacant again! Not one minute after Shannon Shorr sat down, he was up again. Gone in an instant and it looks like David might have gotten him. And I didn't even have time to get a picture! Mark Seif is busted. I don't quite know what happend, but his seat is empty and he's nowhere to be found.
Monday, 20th of August 2007 05:52 PM David Pham just took care of George Yutuc. David had the A-J and George had the A-K. The flop bricked, but the turn was the J and that did it for George. David is over 10k at this point.
And now Shannon Shorr is sitting in the same seat as George was...right next to David. Monday, 20th of August 2007 05:27 PM The field has returned from a break to 50-100 blinds. We started the day with 173 players sitting at 18 tables. We are now at 13 tables. Kenna James has a sick looking stack of only 600 chips. He'll need lots of help. "Miami" John Cernuto is up to 6k and Jaime Gold is sitting on 4k. Mark Seif has 7k and is always on the chip rollercoaster. Monday, 20th of August 2007 04:31 PM Some notables in the field include: Mark Seif, David "The Dragon" Pham Men "The Master" Nguyen, Nam Le, J.C. Tran, "Miami" John Cernuto, and the recently departed Allen Kessler.
Monday, 20th of August 2007 04:17 PM The blinds have gone up to 25-50. I did want to let you know that you can reach me at bheptin@gmail.com if you have any questions or what not. Monday, 20th of August 2007 03:53 PM It's always fun to walk into a poker room when a tournament is just getting underway. The players are real happy to see you, the dealers are all in a good mood, and the table talk is lively. For instance, I was doing my walk through and ran across Bruce Buffer from the UFC. He handed me his camera and wanted a shot of himself at the table. He was upbeat and chipper while talking to me. This is the kind of demeanor deserving of a good picture! It's always a pleasure to interact with this kind of personality.
The same can be said for Kenna James. He walked to his table and almost instantly knew he was at a tough table. "Snakes and frogs and bears. Oh My!" he blurts out as he is sitting down. you know his table has to be happy to see him sit down.
Monday, 20th of August 2007 03:39 PM George Yutuc just dropped by to say hello and wanted to let me know that he was on the table with Jaime Gold. He said that Jaime is already up to his usual antics and has been bluffing at the pots.
Monday, 20th of August 2007 03:17 PM Cards are in the air! We have at least 100, so we will pay 18 spots. This will be our cut-off for day 1 play. The players are getting settled in for the 2 day event $2,090 No Limit Hold'em. Each player will receive 4,000 chips and the blinds are starting out at 25-25. We will be playing 1 hour levels. |
