Event 7 - NLHE - $545
Wednesday, 08th of August 2007 06:50 AM
JJ has been raising almost every hand in the heads up play and this hand was no different. Mostafa (JJ) made it 60k to go and Thu moved all-in and Mostafa insta-called showing A-K versus the pocket J's of Thu. The flop came up blank for Mostafa when the 9-Q-6 came out. The crowd gathered closer to the table to see the next card drop. The K sent everyone in a frenzy as Mostafa made his hand and was well ahead. But, Thu could catch a J or a 10 to make a straigt and really do some damage to Mostafa's stack. Half of the crowd went numb when the 4 landed and sealed the deal for Mostafa Jamasbi who is our Champion and earned a $10,000 Main Event seat and $74,585.
Thu Nguyen finished 2nd and earns $37,295.
Wednesday, 08th of August 2007 06:38 AM
Blinds are up to 10k-20k with a 5k ante.
Wednesday, 08th of August 2007 06:33 AM
The two players have been swapping the chiplead back and forth for the past hour. I know that Thu Nguyen hes been receiving advice from David "The Dragon" Pham everytime they get into a situation where chopping the winnings comes up. He must be getting some action from Thu. At this moment JJ has the chiplead and has been somewhat aggressive through most of the head's up battle. Thu has been playing back, but only in a few instances.
Wednesday, 08th of August 2007 06:02 AM
The 3 remaining players were tossing chips back and forth for the last hour. Finally, Bob Kirkery called from the small blind and Thu Nguyen made a raise to 55k. Bob Kirkery said, "Let's dance!" and he pushed in his stack. Thu called and the two turned over their cards. Bob held A-4 and Thu had pocket Q's. The flop was 2-5-10. The turn was the J and the river was the 8 and B ob Kirkery two stepped out of his chair and into 3rd place earning $18,115.
Wednesday, 08th of August 2007 05:27 AM
The action was folded around to Joe Schulman who went all-in and was insta-called by Bob Kirkery who had him covered. Bob Kirkery had the pocket 10's and Joe held the K-Q. The flop was 2-K-7, which was enough to put Bob in the lead. The turn left 2 outs to Joe when another K came. The river was too much for joe when he saw another 7. Joe Schulman finished 4th earning $10,655.
Wednesday, 08th of August 2007 05:20 AM
The action folded around to JJ who made it 50k to go in the small blind. Alice Talbot decided to make her move and she re-raised it up 70k more and was all-in. JJ now went into the tank for at least 4 minutes before one of the players put him on the clock. While he was thinking, Alice turned completely around and looked the other way as if she were uncomfortable. JJ got down to the last 10 seconds and announced, "Let me see your hand. I call," and turned over his A-9. Alice turned up pocket 10's and the board was drawn up. The flop was 7-Q-A. The turn was a K and the river was the 6. Alice Talbot finished 5th earning $8,525.
Wednesday, 08th of August 2007 05:13 AM
The last 4 pots have been taken by Thu Nguyen and no one wants to play back at him. The play is still very slow for this size game. Don't get me wrong, it's not that the money isn't good, but these players are taking way too long.
Wednesday, 08th of August 2007 04:33 AM
UTG Alice Talbot raises to 25k and it folds around to the BB, Jesus Delgadillo who pushed all-in for his last 30k. Alice immediately calls him with pocket 9's versus the A-8 of Jesus. The flop was a big nail in the coffin for Jesus when the 4-9-7 came. The turn was a ray of hope for Jesus with the 10, giving him a straight draw. The 7 spelled the end for Jesus Delgadillo who finished 6th earning $6,395.
Wednesday, 08th of August 2007 04:25 AM
Jesus Delgadillo just doubled through Raoul Encinas with an A-2 that flopped 2 pair. Jesus is at 37k.
On the next hand Raoul Encinas moved all-in and got the insta-call from Thu Nguyen who had the A-10 and Raoul held the A-2. The flop was 10-J-8, the turn was a 5, and the river was a 7. Raoul Encinas finished 7th earning $5,330.

Everyone at this table is playing very deliberate and thus, the hands per our is way down. Probably like 10 an hour or so.
Wednesday, 08th of August 2007 04:00 AM
A massive hand just took place. Thu Nguyen made a raise in middle position and got re-raised by Christian Hollmann who went all-in. The action folded around to Peter Nguyen who made the call for all of HIS chips and the race was on. Too bad for Peter and Christian that Thu held the pocket rocket's! Peter held the k-9 and Christian held A-K and the flop came out Q-2-2. The turn was a Q and the river was a 10.
Peter Nguyen finished 9th earning $3,195.
Christian Hollmann finished 8th earning $4,260.
Wednesday, 08th of August 2007 03:59 AM
Alice Talbot just stole a few blinds and this made Colin Gordon the shortstack. Colin made his move in middle position all-in and Alice Talbot insta-called. Colin announced,"I bet $1,000 that she's got the best hand!" and turned over the 2-3. The flop was scary for Alice when the 4-5-10 came out giving Colin the straight draw AND taking away a few of Alice's outs. The turn was a K and this sent the percentages back in Alice's favor. The river 4 paired the board and sent Colin Gordon packing in 10th place earning $2,655.
Wednesday, 08th of August 2007 03:49 AM
Jesus Delgadillo has made two double-ups to be at 30k. And Alice Talbot is now our shortstack.

We have just lost 2 players in the last 20 minutes. First, Joon Lee was all-in with his pocket 4's and his opponent had A 6 . The flop was 9 5 5, the turn was the J and the river was K. That sent Joon Lee packing in 13th.
The very next hand we saw Joe Nguyen move all-in on the button and letting the blinds know, "I want to go home!" I don't know if he wanted a call or not, but he did! The BB called and showed the A-K versus Joe Nguyen's pocket Q's. The flop was a crushing K-5-5. The turn was a 6 and the river was a 3. joe Nguyen was sent packing in 12th.
We are down to 11 players with 3k-6k blinds and the antes are at 1k. We will play to the final table (1 more to go) and then take a break.

Normally I wouldn't be able to bring you the hand's that bring down the players at this point, but this tournament has nearly brought us to Christmas. Pre-flop, we saw Alex Shin get himself all-in and his opponent called. The cards were turned up and Shin had K-Q versus his opponent's J 4. The flop was 7 8 Q and Shin's opponent picked up some much needed outs. The turn was a K and now alex was dominating his foe. The river has to hurt someone and it DID! 8 was the card that would complete the flush of Shin's opponent and sent Shin to the rails!

The blinds are at 1,500-3k with 500 antes. Wherever the BB and sb go, so does the money. The play is tight, but we have seen several all-in calls where the smaller stack tends to double up.
Eugene Resnick was our latest victim. He made a raise to 7k with his J-10 and got an all-in from his opponent. Eugene called and saw that he dominated the J-9 of his opponent. The 5-K-A flop did nothing for either player. The turn was a 3 giving Eugene's opponent 1 card to take down the pot. Miraculously, the 9 on the river did it for Eugene Resnick who finished the night in 16th earning

The players have just returned from a break and the very first hand saw two all-ins. The shortstacked "Doctor" Martello Berchenka put his stack of 19k in the pot and got the call from JJ who was holding A-4 versus Doc's K-3. The board was 8-5-9-6-5 and that did it for Doc who finished 18th earning $1,600.

Allen Daniels made it 6k in middle position and Jesus Delgadillo didn't hesitate to put his enire stack in the middle. Allen asked for a count which came in at 14,400 and Allen called. Delgadillo turned up the cowboys and Allen had the A-Q. The flop was 8-6-4, the turn was 9 and the river was a 2. Jesus pulled in over 28k and Allen was left with only 7k.
Wednesday, 08th of August 2007 12:16 AM
On the river, with the board reading J-5-7-7-3, David Newman makes a push all-in for his remaining 25k and JJ goes in the tank for a few minutes. JJ made the call of the tournament when he turned over A-K and David drops his jaw and turns up his A-10. David Newman is out in 30th place earning $960.
JJ now sits with over 100k and is the absolute chipleader.

The last 20 minutes have seen 9 people drop off the tournament map, leaving us with 35. The last two players were both all-in with A-5 and A-Q versus the bigger stacks A-K. The board doesn't improve anyones hand and two are out in one shot.
We are redrawing for seats and the players will begin again.
Tuesday, 07th of August 2007 10:59 PM
The blinds are up to 600-1,200 with a 200 ante.
Tuesday, 07th of August 2007 10:48 PM
We just lost our bubble boy when Doctor Marcello Berchenko made a raise to 3k and his opponent took a few minutes before moving all-in for the remining 17k. Berchenko insta-called and turned up his A 10 and his opponent had pocket 6's. The flop was 5 K 3 giving Berchenko some outs. The turn was a K and the river was a J. The Doc makes the entire crowd happy by taking care of the bubble and he's sitting with roughly 50k.
Tuesday, 07th of August 2007 10:21 PM
David Newman just gave up a little ground. Pre-flop, the button player made it 9,700 which was all-in. David Newman took a second before re-raising all-in for his remaining stack to protect his hand. It is folded out and David turned up his A-3 and wasn't too happy to see the pocket 5's and a board of K-2-3-4-6.
We have 52 players and 5 tables left. One more table to go before we get in the money.
Tuesday, 07th of August 2007 10:10 PM
On a scary flop of 9 K 2, "Doctor" Marcello Berchenko moved all-in after is opponent led out for 3k. The bet was now 22k to go and his opponent had to go in the tank for a few minutes before finally folding his hand. He is now up to 25k and trying to gather in more.
Tuesday, 07th of August 2007 09:21 PM
The players have returned to 300-600 blinds and a 100 ante. The chipleader is David Newman who has 41k and a player at his table has 32k so it must be those 2 that are getting all the hands. We have 74 players still and the average chip stack is 13k.
Tuesday, 07th of August 2007 08:57 PM
Ok. We are in L.A. so when Barry Bonds hit his record breaking homerun, the tournament room was buzzing with the news. Every player within 15 feet of a t.v. is standing under it between hands.
We still have 8 tables with 74 players. The field is on break and they are buying up the green 25 chips.

The chipleader at the moment is "Doctor" Martello Berchenko who is sitting on 24k. He is also sitting on table 13 which is the final table in the tournament room, here at The Bike.
Tuesday, 07th of August 2007 07:00 PM
The players are on a break and will return to 100-200 blinds and a 25 ante. Murry Brumfield had a monster pot to scoop in. Two players are all-in and Murry peeks down at pocket A's and makes the insta-call. One player had Q's and the other had pocket 9's. The board was 5 bricks and murry took out 2 for the price of 1.

Jason Atwood was walking towards me when I was on my way in from the bathroom and he looked dejected. "pocket J's and pocket A's...what'ya do about it?" He proceeded to tell me that the flop was 3 bricks and he made a bet only to get raised by the table chipleader. Jason moved in and saw the bad news.
Tuesday, 07th of August 2007 05:26 PM
Thanks to Tom for sending me the e-mail! The players started out with 2,000 chips and the blinds were at 25-25. The levels increased every 45 minutes.
On a flop of Q-10-K, The Grasshopper put her stack in the middle and announced that she was all-in. The player in the BB went in the tank for 2 minutes before making the call. She replied, "nice call," and turned over the pocket 5's. Her opponent was way ahead with Q-10. The turn was a 4 and the river was another 10.
I think I'm gonna buy one of those bells that you put on a cat so you always know where it is for Nam Le. He is the one guy I never see (even though I don't know that cause there could really be someone I never see). He is up to 3,200 and silently picks his battles.

I just ran into my buddy and she told me she's been fighting to get back to even. I'll pull for her to go a long way with her style of play.
Shane Schlager is sitting in and is still at the average size of 2,400.
Jason Atwood may not be a name you are familiar with, but he's behind some of the big deals between poker players and their backer's. He has been talking with me for the past few days and has peaked my interest in what he does for a living. I am gonna try to get an article about this man as soon as I can. In the meantime, he has built his stack up to 5,500 and is doing it will great hands. No bluffing involved, unless he's bluffing me! Earlier he made a great call with the board showing Q-10-6 he checked to his opponent who made it 350 to go and jason flat called. The turn was another Q and this time his opponent moved all-in and jason had to think about it for a second before calling and turning up his A-10 to the guys pocket 9's. The river was a K and Jason doubled up.
Tuesday, 07th of August 2007 04:39 PM
The total number for today's event is 461 making the prize pool roughly 226k. we had to place almost half of our field out in the main poker room to accomodate the players.
Kenna James is out the door, rather quickly.
Tuesday, 07th of August 2007 04:07 PM
I wasn't actually at the table when it happend but this is the gist of the monster hand:
3 players are all-in pre-flop and each one turns over their hands. pocket A's, pocket K's and pocket Q's!!!
The flop comes brick, brick, Q. The urn was a K and the river was an A!!! and here's the gentleman who had the A's.
the other 2 players were knocked out. Despite winning a monster pot, the other players at his table said he's still not happy eith his cards!
Tuesday, 07th of August 2007 03:45 PM
Looks like we'll be close to 480-500. The line has been cut-off and the ones in line now will get a seat. In the meantime, I have seen Kenna James, Men "The Master" Nguyen, Paramjit Gill, and Vince Burgio so far.
Tuesday, 07th of August 2007 03:22 PM
Cards are in the air! We have a line out the door for this event and we already have 270 registered. Stay tuned to get the official numbers on this event.
