Phil Ivey - 2nd place

Chris has been in charge of this table for quite a while. In the end, he brought it in with the 4 and Phil raised with the 8 . Chris called. 4th street brought a Queen for Phil and a Ten for Chris. Phil bet, Chris raised, and Phil called. 5th street was an 8 for Phil, pairing his door card, and a King for Chris. Again Phil bet, Chris raised, and Phil called. 6th street was a 9 for Phil and 2 for Chris. Phil bet, Chris raised, and Phil raised all-in with his last chips. Chris called and when they opened their hands, Phil had two pair and Chris held trips:
Phil: (7 7) 8 Q 8 9
Chris (T T) 4 T K 2
Chris showed his river card, which was a Jack and Phil mucked his.

Chris Reslock finished in 1st place, earning $258,453 and his first WSOP bracelet.

Phil Ivey finished in 2nd place, earning $143,820, barely missing out on winning his 6th bracelet.

David Oppenheim - 3rd place

David got his chips all in on 4th street against Chris. At the river, Chris had two pair and David mucked his river card, stood up, and shook Chris' hand.

David Oppenheim finished in 3rd place, earning $93,060.

Chris and Phil have begun heads-up play with Chris holding a huge chip lead over Phil. Chris has about 1.4 million to Phil's 400k.

The final three are battling hard. Chris Reslock has been accumulating chips, as has Phil, while David has been losing ground. David was just all-in against Chris with a pair of Kings versus Chris' pair of 4s. The Kings held up and David doubled up, but he's still 3rd in chips.

They're currently playing at 30k/60k. Here are some rough chip counts:

David took most of Pat's chips in a huge pot where they raised each other along the way. At the end, David showed Queens full of 5s and Pat mucked his hand. Shortly after that, Pat got his chips all in with a pair of Jacks against David's pair of 6s on 4th street. Pat picked up a second pair, treys, on 5th street, but David caught a third six on the river to make trips and deliver the fatal blow.

Patick (Pat) Pezzin finished in 4th place, earning $61,335.

Theo Jorgensen - 5th place

Theo brought it in with a trey and Chris Reslock completed to 20k. Pat called, then Theo raised to 40k. Chris hit it again, making it 60k to go and Pat bowed out. Theo raised again with his last chips, which Chris called. Theo had split 3s and Chris held split Kings. They ran out the cards and at the river, Chris had made a King-high flush and Theo couldn't beat it.

Theo Jorgensen finished in 5th place, earning $46,530.

The chair massage lady moved over and started work on David Oppenheim when they returned from the last break. I may have discovered the secret to winning at poker at the highest levels - constant chair massage.

Friday, 08th of June 2007 04:45 PM

Pat doubled up again through Phil when he made two pair to beat Phil's single pair.

They been playing 15k/30k and the level will go up after this break.

On the last hand, Theo got his last chips in on 4th street and showed a pair of 5s. David made the call, but was unable to make a pair, so Theo doubled up.

They're on a break at the end of the level. Play will resume in about 15 minutes.

Phil Ivey has been getting a chair massage at the final table since this event began shortly after 3pm. It appeared that his masseuse was very happy that it was break time, also. At $2 per minute, his massage bill is already at $200 (gratuity not included ).

Oriane Teysseire - 7th place

Oriane committed her last chips to the pot on 5th street with a flush draw. Chris Reslock held split 7s and caught another 7 on 6th street to make trips. Oriane couldn't complete her flush and although she had two pair by the river, it was not enough to catch Chris and she was felted.

Oriane Teysseire finished in 7th place, earning $27,072.

Ted Lawson - 6th place

Ted got all his chips in on 5th street against Chris, who already held two pair (9s & 2s). Ted needed a lot of help, but unfortunately for him, Chris caught another deuce on 6th street to fill the house.

Ted Lawson finished in 6th place, earning $35,532.

Pat committed his last chips to the pot in the dark on 6th street before getting his river card.  Chris took a look at his river card and folded, so Pat nearly doubled up through Chris.

Marco Traniello - 8th place

David lead the betting all the way, but Phil raised him on the river and David let his hand go. Phil pulled in a big pot, taking a bite out of the chip leader, without a showdown.

Marco Traniello is today's first fatality, at the hands of Phil Ivey. Marco did a great job yesterday working his short stack in order to make it to this final table.  This is also Marco's second final table at this year's WSOP, so he's already setting WSOP records!

Marco Traniello finished in 8th place, earning $19,458.
