Monday, 30th of April 2007 11:59 PM Play has concluded for the day. Players are bagging their chips and drawing their new seat assignments. We have 75 players left. As soon as I receive the chip counts and seating list, I will get them posted.Monday, 30th of April 2007 11:56 PM As destiny dictated, on the final hand of the night, Raymond Davis and Layne Flack finally got all their chips in. Steve Wong had raised to 3500, Davis called, and then Flack popped it for another 10K, which Davis called. As soon as the 9-8-6 flop hit the felt, Flack put a big stack of chips out and Davis called right away. Flack tabled Q Q and Davis turned over T T . The A K turn-river settled the matter. Raymond Davis was eliminated by Layne Flack on the last hand.Monday, 30th of April 2007 11:49 PM Last few minutes of the day now.Monday, 30th of April 2007 11:48 PM Peter Feldman just eliminated a shortstacked player when he turned a full house with his pair of sixes.Monday, 30th of April 2007 11:46 PM Can Hua made his stand with his tiny stack but it didn't work out. Can Hua is out.Monday, 30th of April 2007 11:43 PM Can Hua lost most of chips when he called an all-in on the flop. Hua had the nut flush draw and his opponent had a set of tens. The flush didn't come in and Hua is staring at a pretty meager stack now.Monday, 30th of April 2007 11:36 PM John Spadavecchia, last year's winner of this event, just got knocked out when his pocket eights failed to improved against pocket nines.Monday, 30th of April 2007 11:34 PM Miami John Cernuto just lost more than half his chips in a race situation, but there was river cruelty involved. He called an all-in player who had Q-Q with his A-K. The flop brought John his king, coming 9-K-J. The 8 turn was safe. But the ten on the river completed his opponent's straight.Monday, 30th of April 2007 11:22 PM I keep hearing "Seat open!" above the general noise in the room. We have eviscerated these 336 starting players today. With another elimination or two, we should be able to consolidate down to nine tables.Monday, 30th of April 2007 11:19 PM Joe Bartholdi just got knocked out by John Brock ""tsoprano"" Parker when they got all-in preflop and Parker's pocket jacks stayed ahead of Bartholdi's K-9.
Monday, 30th of April 2007 11:13 PM John Racener just got eliminated. We are down to 88 players with 38 minutes left in today's session. Final 36 get paid.Monday, 30th of April 2007 11:04 PM Gavin Smith must be out of the tournament, as he is over here in front of the media table, getting a massage.Monday, 30th of April 2007 11:00 PM Erica Schoenberg is back on track. She just flopped a set of threes and doubled up through a player who held pocket aces. She now has 55K.Monday, 30th of April 2007 10:57 PM Toto Leonidas pushed all-in with his last 19K and the button took a good, long time before deciding to fold. Toto flashed the 3 to the table and seat 9 said, "Only you could get away with that, Toto."Monday, 30th of April 2007 10:55 PM Steve Wong made his nut flush and doubled through Raymond Davis. Wong now has about 75K and Davis was left with about 20K. Monday, 30th of April 2007 10:53 PM David Pham just busted a player and absorbed his chips, catapulting himself up to the 125K level.Monday, 30th of April 2007 10:46 PM Shannon Shorr just doubled through Layne Flack when his K-Q was best on a 4-K-8-Q-9. Shannon now has over 50K and Flack took a big hit.Monday, 30th of April 2007 10:37 PM Here we go at level 7: 400/800 blinds with a 100 ante. This is the final level that we will be playing tonight. 105 hopefuls remain. Well, actually, there are a few players with no hope whatsoever.Monday, 30th of April 2007 10:31 PM Steve Dannenmann was out before the break.Monday, 30th of April 2007 10:26 PM Erica Schoenberg has had a bit of a reversal of fortune. She is back down to about 27K.Monday, 30th of April 2007 10:24 PM We are on break and they are coloring up the green 25 chips.Monday, 30th of April 2007 10:23 PM Layne Flack has a bottle of champagne, on ice, tableside. He seems to be having a good time, despite Raymond David and that big chip stack still being at his table.Monday, 30th of April 2007 10:20 PM Chris Ferguson limped from the button and three players saw the K Q 8 flop. The big blind checked, Raymond Davis bet 1500, Chris pushed all-in for his last 6K, and the big blind called him. Ferguson had Q 9 for middle pair and the flush draw. The big blind had A K for top pair top kicker. The 4 turn and 2 river were not what Chris wanted to see. Chris "Jesus" Ferguson has been eliminated.Monday, 30th of April 2007 10:10 PM Chris Ferguson is hanging in there patiently with about 8K.Monday, 30th of April 2007 10:09 PM Peter Feldman busted another player when his A A was all-in preflop against Q Q and held up. Feldman is up around 75K now.Monday, 30th of April 2007 10:08 PM Michael Binger has busted out.Monday, 30th of April 2007 10:02 PM Down to 114 players. Fred Berger looks to be our chip leader still, with about 110K.Monday, 30th of April 2007 10:01 PM Max Pescatori lost his remaining 18K when his two black kings ran into two black aces. Pescatori out.Monday, 30th of April 2007 09:57 PM David Benyamine just busted out and Erica Schoenberg went to console him. Oh well, he can probably make more playing online than in this tournament anyway.Monday, 30th of April 2007 09:45 PM I am thinking of starting a new, hip poker dictionary for PokerPages. I just wrote my first entry:gam·bly [GAM-blee] adjective 1. Being in a poker state of consciousness in which one is willing to call a large preflop bet holding T 8 with the full expectation of pairing both hole cards and beating a superior hand. See Smith, Gavin or Hansen, Gustav. Monday, 30th of April 2007 09:40 PM Justin Bonomo just doubled up and is over 70K now.Monday, 30th of April 2007 09:38 PM Bill Edler is gone.Monday, 30th of April 2007 09:35 PM Now Layne Flack took a chance with his A-4 and called a short stack's all-in. He was up against A-J and a jack came on the flop, so he doubled up that player. 134 players remain.Monday, 30th of April 2007 09:27 PM Layne Flack and Raymond Davis are doing some serious trash talking with each other. On the hand I just witnessed, a player raised it to 1600, Flack and the button called, and Raymond, claiming not to have looked at his cards yet, pushed 30K or so into the pot and told Layne, "I'm on tilt. One of us has to go." It folded back to Layne (who has a lot of chips, maybe 2/3 that of Davis), who folded and smiled. The button folded and Davis and Flack are eyeing each other warily.Monday, 30th of April 2007 09:18 PM Erica Schoenberg is HOT HOT HOT. She is on a tear at her poker table and accumulating chips fast (what did you think I meant?) She just raised to 2200 preflop and the big blind moved all-in for about 8K. Erica called without hesitation and turned over A A . The big blind couldn't believe his eyes, as he turned over K K . Board came T-4-5-9-T. Erica is now up over 40K and that guy is handing his ticket to the parking valet.Monday, 30th of April 2007 09:15 PM Miami John Cernuto just doubled a player up when he raised all-in with his K J and got called by the shorter-stacked player by 8 8 . The board came T-6-8-K-Q and Cernuto shipped off about 7K of his chips.Monday, 30th of April 2007 09:06 PM We are now under way at level 6: 300/600 blinds with a 75 ante.Monday, 30th of April 2007 08:58 PM I also just learned that Raymond Davis busted a player and has vaulted up to 80K and is among the chip leaders.Monday, 30th of April 2007 08:57 PM I just heard that Erica Schoenberg flopped another full house just before the break and is over 32K!Monday, 30th of April 2007 08:54 PM Break time.Monday, 30th of April 2007 08:53 PM It just goes to show you that patience can be rewarded in these tournaments. Shortly after the dinner break, Erica Schoenberg was sitting on a tiny stack, around 3500. Forty-five minutes later, her stack was about 27K.Her boyfriend David Benyamine just doubled up also and is around 10K or so now. Monday, 30th of April 2007 08:51 PM We continue to lose players at a steady clip. Here at the end of the fifth level, we are down to 143.Monday, 30th of April 2007 08:40 PM It just wasn't Anna Wroblewski's day. Ten minutes ago, she lost half her stack against quad kings. Then, she got all-in on the K-Q-9 flop against Brandon Cantu. Anna had flopped the nuts with J-T. Brandon had 9-9 for the set of nines. And the turn was the case nine, so Anna lost to quads twice in ten minutes. Anna Wroblewski is out.

| Jordan Morgan and Nick Shulman | |
Monday, 30th of April 2007 08:34 PM Did Jordan Morgan and Nick Shulman go to a bachelor party or something last night (see photo)?Monday, 30th of April 2007 08:31 PM Anna Wroblewski raised and then called a player's all-in for about 10K. She had pocket eights and the all-in player had pocket kings. Not that he needed it, but the other player made quad kings. Anna lost nearly half her stack on that misadventure.Monday, 30th of April 2007 08:24 PM We are down to 157 players on 18 tables.Monday, 30th of April 2007 08:23 PM Erica Schoenberg more than doubled up when her pocket kings held up against A-K. About ten minutes later, she doubled up again when her 9-7 met a 9-7-7 flop. In the process, she knocked out Brandon Adams.Monday, 30th of April 2007 08:08 PM Here's a bit of a nutty hand for you: Three players got all-in preflop. One was short stacked, one was middle stacked, and one was big stacked (Raymond Davis). They all turned over their cards: Raymond had K T , middle stack had A Q , and shorty had 9 6 . The board came 5 A 2 8 K . Shorty runner-runnered the flush to take the main pot of 17K. Middle stack paired the ace and won the sizeable sidepot. Raymond Davis won nothing, but still has a healthy 40K left behind. After the hand, short stack tried to explain to the table how he figured he had two live cards and it was worth a shot. Layne Flack, sitting at the table, said, "You don't need to explain why you played it. Just stack your chips, man."Monday, 30th of April 2007 07:58 PM On the J T 2 flop, a player moved all-in and Huckleberry Seed called down the rest of his chips. Seed had Q T for middle pair, but the other player had Q J for top pair. The A turn and 8 river closed the deal. Huckleberry Seed has been eliminated.Monday, 30th of April 2007 07:51 PM J.C. Alvarado and Jared Hamby are out.Erica Schoenberg is running low in chips, with less than 5K right now. Monday, 30th of April 2007 07:49 PM Nick Shulman just busted a player to go up to 38K or so.
Leif Force busted a shortstacked player when his K-K held up over Q-Q.Monday, 30th of April 2007 07:37 PM We are playing poker again. The new level is 200/400 with a 50 ante.Monday, 30th of April 2007 07:33 PM Just five minutes left before we resume. As we are playing three more 75-minute levels tonight, with 15-minute breaks between, we should be wrapping up a little past midnight.Monday, 30th of April 2007 06:04 PM We are now on the dinner break, which will last 90 minutes. Cards are scheduled to go back in the air just past 7:30PM PDT.Monday, 30th of April 2007 06:01 PM We are just a few minutes away from the dinner break. It looks like the chip leader will be Fred Berger, with about 93K.Monday, 30th of April 2007 05:59 PM On a J 5 3 flop, Jordan Morgan checked, John Phan bet 1.3K, and Morgan called. Both checked the 7 turn. With the 6 river, Jordan led out with 4.5K and Phan made the call, looking pretty confident. But once Morgan turned over his 7 6 for two pair, John shook his card and slid his card in.Monday, 30th of April 2007 05:54 PM On a board of J 8 K J 6 , David Williams shoved enough chips out to put his opponent, who had 9500 left, all-in. The guy had to have the clock called on him and, with 5 seconds left, made the call. David Williams immediately said, "I have nothing." The other guy turned over Q J for trips, good for the pot. Williams was knocked down to 10.5K.Monday, 30th of April 2007 05:52 PM Jeff Madsen is out.Monday, 30th of April 2007 05:40 PM Blair Rodman just busted.Monday, 30th of April 2007 05:30 PM We have lost well more than 100 players. The board says there are 234 players remain, but the actual number is much lower, perhaps 210 or so.Monday, 30th of April 2007 05:20 PM I just spoke with Bryan Devonshire and he told me about the hand that crippled him, just before he busted out. Bryan limped under the gun and Steve Dannenmann raised to 700K, which Bryan called. Both checked the Q-7-6 flop. On the J turn, Bryan checked, Steve bet 700, and Bryan called. On the K river, Bryan bet 2K, Steve raised to 5K, and Bryan moved all-in, which Steve called. Bryan had T-9 for the straight, but Steve had A-T for the nut straight.Monday, 30th of April 2007 05:10 PM Bryan Devonshire has busted out.

Thuritz doubles to 17K and Binger is down to 8.6K.Monday, 30th of April 2007 04:20 PM Kathy Liebert is busto.

The last three turbo satellite tables are still running.Monday, 30th of April 2007 09:46 AM We are set for a noon PDT start, which is just a couple hours from now. Last year, this event drew 209 players and finished, as scheduled, in four days. This year, I have a hunch that we will greatly exceed last year's count. The first reason is that most tournaments have been beating their 2006 head counts. The next reason - and this is a big one - is that last year, this was a $10K buy-in tournament, while this year, it is a $5K buy-in. And if you look at the schedule, they have compressed the tournament this year down to three days. So if we are going to be down to a final table by tomorrow night, I shudder to think about how long these next two days might be.
