$5,000 + $150 NLHE Championship
The WSOP Circuit makes the leap from the Midwest to the Southwest for the 7th of 11 stops on the 2006/2007 Circuit schedule. The next circuit stop is at Harrah's Rincon Casino & Resort, outside of San Diego, CA. This will be the third year in a row that Rincon has hosted a mid-winter slot on the WSOP Circuit.
Last year's event was won by Darrell 'Gigabet' Dicken after a marathon 13-hour final table, which included many poker-notables, such as Kathy Liebert, (3rd place) Andy Bloch, (7th place) Yosh Nakano (8th place) and Tom McCormick (9th place). That event was a $10K event and it attracted 109 players, yielding a $1 million prize pool. Darrell walked away with over $372K for his first place finish.
This year's main event will be a $5,000 + $150 NLHE event. The lower buy-in should help attract more entries.
Rincon is hosting several poker pros who will be signing autographs starting at 10am on Tuesday, February 20th, Day 1 of the Championship Event. The pros who will be present are Scotty Nguyen, Phil Gordon, Annie Duke, and Robert Williamson III. All four are members of the WSOP Advisory Council and will be playing in the main event which will begin at noon.
The championship event will be a three-day affair. The final table will be held on Thursday, February 22nd beginning at 2pm. I will be at Rincon bringing you all the action, live and in color, so set your browsers for PokerPages.com.
