| Jamie Gold - 2006 WSOP Champion | |
Apparently undeterred by his release from sponsorship by Bodog, Jamie Gold, 2006 World Series of Poker Main Event champion, has pulled into the chip lead with just under 100k.
With a board showing 8 7 5 Q , Brian Wolfe bet 7k. Jamie Gold moved all-in, and after ample consideration, Wolfe called.
Gold showed 7 8 for two pair. Wolfe had A K , no pair but the nut flush draw.
The river was the 4 , and Gold's two-pair stands.

| Phil Ivey | |
What would a tournament be without Phil Ivey near the front of the field? He's got about 50k as of the last chip count.
PokerPages, long having been the leader in up-to-date news, gives you the only known photo (right) of Phil Ivey smiling.
It's rumored that this image is a fake, that Phil never smiled after he won this bracelet for a 7-Stud event back in '02. However, stoic as he is, it's worth noting that the image to the right isn't a photo at all - it's a series of photos, time-lapse, over a period of two hours. Yes, even while smiling, Phil Ivey never moves.
Watch him on television or live in a tournament and you'll see what we mean.
Friday, 26th of January 2007 04:06 PM With 535 players remaining, the break is over.
Blinds are now 100-200.

| John Gale @ the 2006 WSOP | |
Friday, 26th of January 2007 02:59 PM While players are still on break, it looks as though John Gale is near the front of the pack with about 70k.
Here's John at the 2006 World Series of Poker main event, looking humble even though he's wearing a WSOP bracelet on his wrist! Really - got to be humble to show off your watch and not the bracelet!
John would go on to finish 522nd in the '06 main event, good for a payday of just over $22k. The bracelet? Well, he won it about three weeks earlier in the 2006 WSOP, taking first place in the $2500 Pot-Limit Hold'em event.
Truly a gentlemen, that Mr. Gale. Good luck, John!
Friday, 26th of January 2007 03:52 PM Players are now on a 15 minute break.
Friday, 26th of January 2007 03:48 PM PokerPages' very own Joe Sebok took a small hit just a moment ago, even while holding trips.
Five players saw a flop of: 9 8 6
Joe Sebok put in a wager, called by Joe Cassidy.
The two players, now heads-up, saw a turn of: 7 . Both players checked to see a river of 7 .
Sebok checked into Cassidy, who bet 1k. Sebok just called, to see Cassidy turn over 6-7, beating Sebok's three sevens with a full house.
Friday, 26th of January 2007 03:44 PM Mike "The Mouth" Matusow has been sent to the rails early on in this event.
After Matusow raised pre-flop with K-5, Bill Edler called.
The flop brought: K 8 5
Matusow bet, was raised by Edler, and Mike quickly called.
The turn: 10
Matusow leads out again, and this time Edler just called.
The river is a 5, giving Matusow a full house. Matusow moved all in, only to be shocked when Edler turned over KK for the nuts. Matusow is out.
Friday, 26th of January 2007 02:33 PM We're now at level 3, blinds of 75-150
Friday, 26th of January 2007 01:45 PM The cards are in the air at the 2007 Borgata Winter Poker Classic. Currently there are more than 550 players registered, with the tournament still accepting registrations until the end of the second level.
We're currently on the 2nd level, blinds at 50-100.

| Michael "The Grinder" Mizrachi | |
Last year, Michael "The Grinder" Mizrachi took the poker world by storm with his 2nd place finish at the WPT World Poker Open in Tunica. He followed that up immediately with a 1st place finish at the WPT Borgata Poker Classic, winning more than $1 Million, a shiny new Escalade, and enough points to be named 2006 Player of the Year.
Last year's event drew a mere 381 players, so we're already looking at a larger payday for first place. Though the recent online gaming bills may have affected online poker as of late, the World Poker Tour appears to still be gaining speed!
