Tuesday, 16th of January 2007 01:06 AM Michael Mizrachi raised to 4K on the button and Andy Chang called from the small blind. Flop was T K J . Andy bet 2K and Michael called. Turn was 5 . Andy checked, Michael bet 2K, Andy raised to 8K, Michael re-raised to 14K, and Andy moved all-in. He had Michael covered and Michael went into the tank. He seemed really torn and at one point seemed about to shove all his chips in, but then released his hand. Andy showed A Q for the nut straight (on the flop) and nut-flush redraw. Michael did not show, but said he held pocket Kings and had folded top set. That's it for today. End of level 8 and 80 players remain. Now they will start the bag-and-tag process. As soon as we get the end of day chip counts, they will be posted here. Tuesday, 16th of January 2007 12:35 AM It seems the rich get richer. With an all-in bet from Sheila Craig in late position, Dennis Anness calls and reveals the horrible news. Dennis's Pocket Aces against Sheila's A-Q. The board reveals no help to Sheila and Dennis drags down a 28K pot and a chip lead. Tuesday, 16th of January 2007 12:04 AM Ricardo Rodriguez raised to 5,500 under the gun. Larry Knopp then moved all-in for about 11K. Back to Ricardo, who called, showing pocket 9s. Larry held AK offsuit and it was off to the races. Board came 3 J 3 7 7 and Ricardo took the pot with nines-up. Larry took the long walk to the rail (and the Best Dressed Award!). 99 players remain. Average stack is a bit over 38K. Monday, 15th of January 2007 11:52 PM Level 8: Blinds 600/1,200 with 200 antes. Play has resumed. 108 players remain. Average stack is almost 35K. Monday, 15th of January 2007 11:45 PM

Monday, 15th of January 2007 11:01 PM With the board showing K 2 A Q , Eric Froelich fired 5,300 at the pot. His opponent in seat 6 moved all in and had Eric covered. Eric went into the tank for several minutes, but finally sureendered. He was left with only about 8K after that hand. Brian Wilson doubled up another player when he got all-in on a K J x flop holding AJ. His opponent held KT and had him beat, but ended up making a straight on the river. Michael "the Grinder" Mizrachi and Andy Chang get all-in on a flop of Q 8 T. Then they both turn over J9 and have the same hand, splitting the pot. David Plastik, Vinny Vinh, Lyde Wagers, Ed Corrado, Eric Froelich, and An "the Boss" Tran have all departed. 117 players remain. Average stack is about 32,200. Monday, 15th of January 2007 10:21 PM

Jimmy Tran has busted out. Monday, 15th of January 2007 08:57 PM Gary Gibbs is gone, as is Paul McCaffrey. Ted Lawson has also been dispatched, courtesy of Chris Reslock. 171 players remain. Monday, 15th of January 2007 05:55 PM End of level 4 and players are on dinner break. The board has been changed and now shows 262 players remaining. Monday, 15th of January 2007 05:46 PM On a flop of 2 6 J seat 2 bet 600, Ricardo Rodriguez called, then Larry Knopp announced "raise" and dropped three 500 chips on the felt, then went back to his stack. The floor was called to rule on the amount of the raise and since 1,500 was a valid raise, it had to stand and he was not able to bet more. Seat 9 called the raise as did Ricardo. Turn was 6 and it was checked around. River was 9 and Ricardo checked to Larry, who fired 5K at the pot. All folded and Larry scooped the pot without showdown. Monday, 15th of January 2007 05:22 PM According to the board, only 252 players remain, which means we are one-third of the way through this field. 30 minutes remain in level 4 and then the players will go on a 75 minute dinner break. End of level 2 and players are on break. The board says 347 players remain. Here's an updated leader-board: |

Monday, 15th of January 2007 02:39 PM On the turn with the board showing 3 3 2 7 the player in seat 3 (small blind) bet 2,400. Vanessa Rousso called and a third player folded. River was 4 and seat 3 moved all-in for 5,100. Vanessa thought about and said "Now I don't think you have the 3 - you would have value bet the 3". She decided to call and it was a good call. Seat 3 showed A 9 for Ace-high. Vanessa held T 7 for sevens-up. She dragged the pot and the other player dragged himself to the rail. Monday, 15th of January 2007 02:18 PM

| Chad Brown - busted | |
After an open for 400, Eskimo Clark called. Michael "the Grinder" Mizrachi made it 1700 from the big blind. The original raiser folded and Eskimo moved his last 6,100 in. Michael called, showing pocket Tens. Eskimo held pocket Queens and the lead. Board came 2 J 3 9 T and that Ten on the river spelled the end for Eskimo. The Grinder took the pot with his set and the Eskimo took the long walk to the rail. Chad Brown has also departed as his pocket Queens fall to a Q J as three spades hit the board. Apparently our earlier information was in error. The final official player count is 377. Monday, 15th of January 2007 02:06 PM

| David "Devilfish" Ulliott - busted | |
David "Devilfish" Ulliott got all in with AK suited, but ran into the pocket Kings of Lyde Wagers. No help on the board and the fish was busted. David spent the next few minutes signing autographs and then started looking for a ride over to the Goldstrike. He wants to play the Pot Limit Omaha event over there today. Since taxis are scarce around here, he asked if anyone could give him a ride. Just as I was about to hand over my car keys and valet ticket, he offered $100 for anyone who could give him a lift and got an instant reply. See ya' later, Devilfish. | Chris Reslock - Chip leader at end of level 1 | |
Level 2: Blinds 50/100. Play has resumed. During the break, it appears that Chris Reslock holds the chip lead with about 30K. Michael "the Grinder" Mizrachi is in second with about 20K. Some more players have appeared: Greg Merkow, Paul McCaffrey, and Thomas Wahlroos are all at the same table. Monday, 15th of January 2007 01:30 PM Level 1 has ended and players are taking a break. There were 414 players registered as of the middle of level 1, but registration did not close until the end of the level, so a few more late arrivals might have snuck in. Final player count will come shortly. Monday, 15th of January 2007 01:01 PM

| Larry Knopp dressed for the occasion | |
Things are a little slow right now, but I've passed through the room and found these players: Stan Weiss, Kido Pham, Farry Gibbs, John Racener, Brian Wilson, Doug "Rico" Carli, Chad Brown, Leif Force, John Spadavecchia, Tony Cousineau, Wendell Barnes, Allen Kessler, Tom McCormick, John Phan, Jason "BigBird" Sagle, Davidson Matthew, Barry Greenstein, Vinny Vinh, Ralph Perry, Michael "the Grinder" Mizrachi, Allie Prescott, Men "the Master" Nguyen, Jordan "ims0lucky1" Morgan, Nam Le, David "Devilfish" Ulliott, Tom Schneider, Ed Corrado, Bill Edler, Eric Froelich, and "Eskimo" Clark. This gentleman arrived way over-dressed, with tophat and walking stick. Since he made the effort, he deserves to get his photo in the blog. Say hello to Larry Knopp! Monday, 15th of January 2007 12:36 PM The first departure of the day has happened, but you really can't blame him. Frank Kassela ran his pocket Kings right into pocket Aces. Monday, 15th of January 2007 12:04 PM Level 1: 25/50 blinds. Cards are in the air. Players start with 10,000 chips and levels are 75 minutes long. Monday, 15th of January 2007 12:02 PM We just got an annnouncement that due to a misprint on some of the literature and calls from other players still on the way, that play will not begin until noon, rather than at 11am as expected. So now we've got an hour to kill. Monday, 15th of January 2007 10:54 AM Today's event starts at 11am, which is a bit unusual for us poker folks who don't roll out of bed until the crack of 11:30. But here we are, nonetheless. Yesterday's $1000 Limit Hold'em event was supposed to be a 2-day event with the final table being today, but because those players wanted to play this event today, they played it out last night. John Phan won that event. David "Devilfish" Ulliott won the $1000 NLHE event at the GoldStrike yesterday, so we expect to see him here today. Vinny Vinh, Doug 'Rico' Carli, Allen Kessler, Men "the Master" Nguyen, Stan Weiss, are some of the players in the house. Cards should be in the air shortly.
