While waiting for someone to put their chips in the middle, I have been glancing around the room at the other tables. I was trying to pick out which table was what... like, there's the $5,000 NLHE tables, single tables for the main event, and single tables for the senior's event. It's actually easier than you would think. The tournament tables have different chips than the rest, so those are easy. The single tables are easily distinguisable... whichever one has the most silver hair, is the senior event single tables.

Sunday, 10th of December 2006 05:44 PM

Play has been considerably slow. No real action. I've been snapping photos & watching hands (mostly raise preflop, everyone folds). The photos will hopefully be online by tomorrow or Tuesday. For some reason Fujifilm decided to make their USB cables UNIQUE to their brand. So I had to order a special USB cable just to get the photos off of the camera! Gotta love technology.

Sunday, 10th of December 2006 05:19 PM

Play is about to resume.

Today's $5,000 buy in event, the last open event before the main event (tomorrow is the senior's event & tuesday is super satellite day), drew 251 players for a nice $1.2m prize pool. First is $430k. I'll be here tomorrow at 3pm for the final table action.

Sunday, 10th of December 2006 02:47 PM

Today I haven't really researched the final players, but I know a few of them. Today, much like the poker players, all I've done is watch football. There's all four afternoon games on here, and as usual, people are just as interested in their cards as they are the games.

Jason Lester is probably the only household name left, as he was a prominent presence in the 2003 WSOP Main Event that Chris Moneymaker won. He also won a WSOP bracelet this summer. Erika Shoenberg is a former volleyball player originally from Ohio. She's also dating high stakes player David Benyamine, last I read.

Young Phan, JJ Lui & Charlie Shoten have all had WPT appearances. Lui made the final table of the main event in this series last year. Shoten is noteably known for a few mental lapses at the final table at the Borgata a few years ago. Jeff Shulman is the editor of CardPlayer, and also made the 2000 WSOP final table. This is but a glimpse at the resumes of these players, who are all pretty accomplished in their own right.

Daniel Quach is noteable for his second place finish, good for a cool $1.1 million at the LA Poker Classic earlier this year. Chipleader Raj Sawant has a few cashes, but is looking for his first major score here today. Jason Berilgen has a WSOP final table, as well as a win in the daily $1,000 tournament here at Bellagio. Robert Nehorayan has a few wins and over six figures in cashes. This would be his biggest win by far.

Stay tuned for live coverage beginning at 3 pm.
