Bruce Williams - 7th place

On a flop of K 7 x, Bruce got all in against Scott. Bruce held a King for top pair, but Scott had pocket 7s for the set and Bruce was done.

Bruce Williams finished in 7th place, earning $18,013.

That's it for today!  Chip counts coming shortly...

Tuesday, 24th of October 2006 05:01 PM

Arturo Kulczycki - 8th place

Arturo got his last chips in with K9 off and got called by Tony with A4 suited. Board came A J 9 T 7 and Arturo was done.

Arturo Kulczycki finished in 8th place, earning $14,411.

Tuesday, 24th of October 2006 04:55 PM

Once again Boys and Girls, it is the player's responsibility to protect their hand.

Arturo got all in, and then his hand got mucked. Tony was the only player with a live hand, so he called, showed pocket deuces (board was 7 6 J) and was awarded the pot. He had 457K and took that much from Arturo, leaving him with less than 25K.

Tuesday, 24th of October 2006 04:50 PM

Arturo doubles through Tony when his KQ suited turns into a full house on a board of K Q 5 K T.

Tuesday, 24th of October 2006 04:38 PM

Level 18: Blinds 6K/12K with 2K antes. Play has resumed.

Tuesday, 24th of October 2006 04:34 PM

Level has ended and players are on break. Here are the chip counts:

Tuesday, 24th of October 2006 04:20 PM

Terris raised to 22K and Adam moved all in. Terris called, showing pocket Kings. Adam's pocket 7s needed help. Board came 4 5 J 3 4 and Adam was done.

Adam Lococo finished in 9th place, earning $11,529.

Tuesday, 24th of October 2006 04:10 PM

Arturo raised to 40K, the Tony bumped it another 100K from the small blind. Arturo called. Flop was 2 5 9 and Tony moved all-in. Arturo folded and Tony dragged a big pot.

Tuesday, 24th of October 2006 04:03 PM

The most important thing for a poker player to learn, is that it is the player's responsibility to protect their hand.

Adam moved all in, and everyone folded around to the big blind. The dealer scooped Adam's cards into the muck before the big blind had acted. At this point, Terris was the only player with live cards and Adam's chips were in the pot. The floor ruled that Adam's chips were in the pot and had to stay there and action was on Terris, who called all-in, turned over J7 suited, and was awarded the pot. Adam had him covered and was left with only about 41K chips.

This is a hard way to learn a tough lesson, but it is always the player's responsibility to protect their hand.

Tuesday, 24th of October 2006 03:46 PM

With 10 players remaining (8 Canadians) they are playing hand-for-hand.

Tuesday, 24th of October 2006 03:13 PM

In a three-way all-in: Paul had pocket 6s, Jason held pocket 9s, and Arturo held pocket Aces. Board came 3 5 2 Q Q and Arturo took out two players with his two bullets.

Paul Rodrigues finished in 13th place, earning $9,367.

Since he started the hand with more chips, Jason Sagle finished in 12th place, earning $9,367.

End of level 16.

Tuesday, 24th of October 2006 03:06 PM

According to the staff, over 300 players have already registered for the NAPC, the $10K event which begins here tomorrow. Barry Greenstein and Dan Harrington arrived and registered today. There is no cap on that event, so they will continue to take entries through the first level tomorrow.

Approaching the end of level 16.

Tuesday, 24th of October 2006 02:59 PM

On the river, with the board showing K 6 Q 5 Q (no suit) Scott Clements moved all in (small blind position). Blake went into the tank. Scott eventually called for the clock. Blake called, showing KT off for Kings up, but Scott rolled over AQ suited for trip Queens.

Blake Buffington finished in 14th place, earning $9,367.

13 players remain -- still 9 Canadians!

Tuesday, 24th of October 2006 02:52 PM

Gia Trinh raised to 30K from the middle. Mark was on the button and counted his chips, then declared all-in. Gia had him covered, and called, showing pocket Queens. Mark held K J . Board came 2 Q T 6 8 and Mark was busted.

Mark 'P0kerHo' Kroon finished in 15th place, earning $9,367.

Tuesday, 24th of October 2006 02:42 PM

Jose got his last chips in with pocket 8s and ran into a pair of pocket 9s. No help on the board and Jose was done.

Jose Rosenkrantz finished in 16th place, earning $9,367.

15 players remain, of which 9 are Canadians!

Tuesday, 24th of October 2006 02:36 PM

Mitch Mitchner moved his last 58K in two off the button. Joe Tehan in the big blind already had 8K in. He said he only looked at one card and wanted to call, even though he would only have 15K left. He finally tossed his 50K in the pot. Mitch held K8 off and Joe showed his Ace...then uncovered the other card, which was an offsuit 5. Board came 9 T 3 9 A and Joe's Ace was good all the way.

Mitch (Mark) Mitchner finished in 17th place, earning $9,367.

Tuesday, 24th of October 2006 02:26 PM

Erwin Evero finished in 18th place, earning $9,367.

Big hands on both tables just before the end of the level:

Tony O'Hagan raised to 22K up front and Joe Tehan bumped it another 50K from the middle. Tony called all-in, as he had a bit less than 50K left, with pocket Tens. Joe held AK offsuit. No help for Joe on the board: 8 Q 4 2 5 and Tony doubled up.

Adam Lococo moved in and after some consideration, Mark 'PokerHo' Kroon called, showing AQ offsuit. Adam held AK offsuit. Neither hand improved on the board of 2 J 6 8 9 and Adam doubled up.

End of level and players are on break. Staff is coloring up the purple 500 chips and once they are done, I'll get the chip counts.

Tuesday, 24th of October 2006 01:51 PM

Blake on the button and Mark in the big blind take a flop of T T 3. Mark checked, Blake bet 30K, and Mark called. Turn was a 2 and both checked. River was a 7 and Mark moved all-in. Blake asked for a count, (Mark had about 150K left) and eventually folded. Mark 'PokerHo' Kroon takes the pot without a showdown.

End of level and break coming up in about 5 minutes, so I'll be getting the updated chip counts at that time.

Cards are in the air. 36 minutes remain in level 14, Blinds are 2K/4K with 500 antes.

Play resumes at noon for the final 27 players. They will play until only 6 remain and then this event will be put on hold for the North American Poker Championship, which begins Wednesday the 25th.

The NAPC will play 25th-28th with final table taping on Sunday the 29th. The final table taping for this event will follow on Monday the 30th.
