Page 1 of 2 Playing down to 45
by Sharla LehrmannTuesday, 29th of August 2006 01:50 AM 50 players remain. Well, the players are tired and ready to give it up for the day I am sure. We didnt make it to the money qutie yet, but the end of the level has come. The chips are being bagged and we will return tomorrow at 2pm. We end the day with the chip leader being Javid Javani. He is pushing the half million mark.
Two gals left. Jennifer "Jennicide" Leigh is sitting on a little stack, nursing it along. She has about 45K. Vanessa Rousso is healthy with about 150K. Tuesday, 29th of August 2006 01:33 AM Randy Holland and Carl Olson bared their teeth and went to battle after a flop of the Qh Td 3d. All in for both, Randy showed pocket queens and Carl pocket tens. Heartbreaking for Carl as the 4c 6h couldnt pull it out for him. Carl Olson had a great game and it sucks to lose with set over set. Mimi Tran couldnt hang with her short stack and she is out of this Legends...although, she is certainly a legend in my mind.
{
53 players are still here and grinding it out. Mel Weiner just lost a monster pot to the nuts, about 70K of is stack David Daneshgar took a monster pot when he rivered the nut straight. Mel bet 25K, David pushed all in for another 29K and Mel delibertated and made a bad call. It cost him dearly. David Ritter couldnt hold on any longer. He is out.
Brandon Cantu just busted when he was short and was all in with the Th 4h vs the Qs Qc held by Erick Lindgren. Nothing came to enhance his hand.
Anahit Galjian is finished too. Now there are three ladies left. Jennifer Leigh, Vanessa Rousso and Mimi Tran. Mimi Tran has tripped up and fallen to about 40K. She is one hell of a player so dont count her out. Speaking of one hell of a player, David Ritter has continued to be patient and pick his battles. He has been staring at felt for over 4 hours and with blinds at 2K / 4K, it is amazing he is still alive...although not necessarily well. Tuesday, 29th of August 2006 12:53 AM Gabe Kaplan is finished. Seat 8 raised to 12K UTG, Gabe Kaplan called from late posiiton, Tuan Le called from the button and Barry Shulman reraised to 42K from the small blind. Seat 8 folded, Kaplan called all in for 23K and Le folded. Heads up. Barry showed the As Ts and Gabe the Qd Jd. The board brought the Kd 9c 3c 5s 2d and Gabe Kaplan is off to the rail.
Ill tell you this, The Bike puts on a great tournament. Denny Williams and his staff have it completely under control. Easy greasy......just like butta'! Tuesday, 29th of August 2006 12:21 AM Last level of the night. We either finish it and come back tomorrow or we get to 45 players and come back tomorrow. The ante is now 500 with 2K / 4K blinds. Tuesday, 29th of August 2006 12:04 AM Players take a break. We have about 62 players left. Pat Poels is out.
Brandon Cantu doubled up when his QQ held up against TT. He sits with about 125K now. Shawn Buchannan is out. Danny Smith raised to 12K UTG. Folded around to Jennifer Tilly, in the big blind, she pushed all in. Danny instantaneously called with the Ac Kc. Tilly showed the 6s 5s. Se had had a big stack previous to two hands back and was now teetering on the edge of disaster. Indeed, the board was mean to her as it brought the K Q H 4 2. Jennifer Tilly has finished.
Monday, 28th of August 2006 11:41 PM Tuan Le made it 9K to go preflop and Patrick Poels reraised to 25K in the big blind. Le called. The board came the J 7 5. Poels bet 23K. Again, Le called. The turn is a 6. Poels moved all in for 47K and mucked the Kc Jc face up. Poels returned the favor and flipped over two red aces and scooped up the pot which took him up to about 150K. Monday, 28th of August 2006 11:18 PM Scott Lazar and Phil Laak are out. Valentino Morella goes home. JC Tran limped UTG, Phil Lakk pushed all in for 32K in late position and Arturo Diaz made the call from the cutoff. Tran bowed out of this one. Phil showed the Ad 5d and Arturo the A Q. The board ran the Tc 9s 3s Td 7c and the Queen kicker was dandy for Arturo.
Lots going on at the table where Jennifer Tilly is standing. Apparently we are getting ready to drop a player or two. Monday, 28th of August 2006 10:58 PM 76 remain. Another table is broken and the field continues to diminish in size. Anahit Galajian has bided her time and then she pounced. Hoyt Corkins limped in from the cutoff and Anahit pushed all in from the small blind for another 10K. Hoyt gave her the call. She had the 7d 7h and Hoyt the Kc 8s. The board didn’t bring either overcard and her sevens were pat. Anahit Galajian doubled up through Hoyt Corkins.
Monday, 28th of August 2006 10:35 PM Blinds move to 1500 / 3000 with a 400 ante. Monday, 28th of August 2006 10:30 PM Players take a 10 minute break. Tim Phan raised to 8K preflop and got three callers. The flop came the Js 8d 6c. Phan moved all in for 23,500. He got one caller….Jennifer Tilly and the other caller mucked. Phan had the Kc Kh and his opponent the Qd Qs. The turn was the Th and the river the 8s. Phan has grown to 80K. Monday, 28th of August 2006 10:23 PM Well, strike that, Curt Kohlberg has been eliminated. So has Steve Simmons.
Curt Kohlberg has run into several walls and is now sitting with merely 26K. Tuan Le limped in UTG and Rick Chase did as well from the cutoff. Carl Olson toss in his half bet from the small and the big blind checked his option. The flop brought the Ah Th Ts. Le bet 5K, Chase popped it to 10K and the others got out of the way. Le came back over the top for another 25K and Chase moved all in for 100K. Le made a huge laydown as he turned over the 8 T for three of a kind. Chase returned the “show” and flipped over the K T for the case ten and big kicker. He has grown his stack to a healthy 170K. Monday, 28th of August 2006 10:05 PM T J Cloutier is out. TJ and Tony Ma went to battle. TJ had te best of it going in with the 99 and Tony had the AK. THe ace hit the board and TJ packed up, wished the table well and headed out to talk to his wife. In a threeway all in pot, Pat Poels, Frank Mariani and another player reveal their cards. Pat had the AK, Seat 7 te AK and Frank the A5. No help on the board and the AK duo split Frank up and he heads to the house. Vanessa was staring at the board of the 3s Ah 6d Jd Qs. The pot was nice, but the river bet from a player before her for 80K made her do a lot of thinking. She muttered to herself, doing the math, said something about the "most illogical play ever" and I think she almost called and then made the laydown. We will never know if it was a good one, but, she still has her chips. Tuan Le has retaken the lead now with about 350K. Ron Faltinsky is close behind with a little over 300K. Kevin O"Donnell trails with close to 300K and Javid Javani has slipped to 285K. Mike Heintshel is at 260K. Arturo Diaz sits at 195K. My friend David Ritter has moved back up to about 40K and is steadily working his way back.
Into two digits and counting. We need to lose half the players left to get to our goal of 45....before the sun rises. Steve Frederick, Jason Steinhorn and Tom Hufnagle have gone to the rail. Monday, 28th of August 2006 08:55 PM The ante is now 300 with 1K / 2K blinds. Monday, 28th of August 2006 08:45 PM Players take 10 minutes for a break. Arturo Diaz and Javid Javanti are kicking butt and taking names. Javid has almost 300K and Arturo is just short of 250K. Erick Lindgren moved all in preflop for 27K and got called by the chip leader, Javid Javani. Erick has the Ac Ts and Javid the As 2d. The T kicker is boss and Erick doubles to almost 60K. Shawn Buchanan, David Levi and Nghia Nguyen are all in the middle preflop. David has the 9d 9s. Nghia the Ah 4h and Shawn the Qd Qs. The board comes the 8c 6c 2h 4s 5s and Buchanan gets a twofer. David Levi and Nghia Nguyen are out. We have 5 ladies left in the contention today. Vanessa Rousso, Jennifer Tilly, Jennifer Leigh, Mimi Tran and Anahit Galajian . Good luck girls! David Ritter is looking at the felt as he is sitting with 12K. Add Dan Harrington to the list of bust outs. Another pro is out of contention. Ted Lawson heads to the rail. Yosh Nakano takes Joe Sebok out of the picture. Yosh limped in from the small blind and Joe moved all in for 25K from te big blind. Yosh called and sowed the Ad Tc Joe had an inferior and, the Ac 2c. The A Ts 8c hit the flop. Joe needed running clubs or twos to wiggle out of this mess. No help. The 5s 3d rolled out on the turn and river and that was that. Color Amnon Filippe out. Heads up Amnon and Mike Heintschel saw the flop of the Jh 8s 4h. Amnon bet 18K and Mike upped it to all in. Amnon made the call and showed the Ad Kh. Mike had a made hand with twenty miles of railroad track, the Th Td. The 5s 9s followed and the tens held up. Amnon is all gone. Closing in on 120 remaining players. Monday, 28th of August 2006 07:47 PM Carlos Mortensen and Greg "FBT" Mueller are out. Ante is 300 with 800 / 1600 blinds. Monday, 28th of August 2006 07:05 PM Masoud Pourhabib and Don Barton finish up right before break. Nam Le and Victor Ramdin join the out to lunch crew. No more play left for them today. The pros are dropping like flies. Jean Robert Bellande takes his leave. His A Q didnt do well against pocket aces. Jennifer Harman couldnt maintain either and has lost her bid to stay in the race. Ouch. Gabe Kaplan popped Liz Lieu and took her out of competition. Gabe has a very substantial stack now.
Toto Leonidas is gone now too.
Justin Gillette raised to 4K and Barry Greenstein moved all in for his final 12K on the button. Gillette called and showed the Ah Jc. Greenstein is all over him with the As Kh. Of course, the board comes a brutal Js 6c 5d to give Gillette his pair of jacks. He survives the turn and river without spiking a king and we lose Barry Greenstein. Jared Hamby, Minh Ly, Robert Mizrachi, Jimmy Tran and Ralph Rudd are among the casualties today. Pat Poels has made his move several times and made it happen. He now sits at 80K after a couple of double throughs. Count Erik Seidel out of moneying in this event.
Monday, 28th of August 2006 05:45 PM John Phan hung on for a long time after he dropped to 3500. But, the poker gods just wouldnt work with him and he finally lost the battle. John Phan is out. Players return to Level 9. The blinds are 600 / 1200 with a 200 ante. Monday, 28th of August 2006 05:25 PM Players take a 10 minute stretch. (Dont worry that they dont get a dinner break, trust me, with the unbelievably delicious food they serve around the clock to players here at the Bike, these guys are grazing on a constant basis.
