Humbert Brenes raised to 15K from the big blind in a pot holding four limpers. Humberto, even at this hour, has his sense of humor has he pretends he is fishing for callers. They all believed him and folded. He picked up the pot and grows to 440K.

Looks like David Chiu has taken the lead since Dmitri Nobles has dropped to 530K. David has 650K. Kyle Bowker is following with 600K and Jon Lane close behind with 580K.

Two milestones have just been met....1. The field has just hit the 500 player mark... 2. Daniel Negreanu has topped 100K chips.

Saturday, 05th of August 2006 12:46 AM

We just got word that play will be complete for tonight at the end of this level, Level 15.

David Chiu and another player get it all in on the flop of the A Q J. Chiu had A Q and the other player the A J. The T on the turn opens the board up for a gutshot royal flush for the other player, but the Q on the river gave Chiu the full house, an elimination and a 500K pot. He sits at almost 600K now.

Daniel Negreanu is on the comeback road. He has grown his stack to 80K. DON’T EVER COUNT Daniel out….

Saturday, 05th of August 2006 12:16 AM

In an all in move, Dario Minier pushed from middle position for 68K. Dmitri Nobles called from the button. Minier showed big slick, hearts and Nobles the 3c 3h. The flop brought the 9c 3s 2s giving Nobles a set and giving Minier a huge mess to work with. The Jd on the turn meant Miner was drawing dead. Dario Minier is out and Nobles has an overwhelming lead with 875K.

They decided to play an additinonal three levels after the dinner break . which would put the tournament ending at 2am . However, The players are not happy about it .

Michael Binger just got into a shouting match with Jack Effel about the whole thing

As the day calls to play down to 600 players . Then were was a short-lived chant that broke out among the players, shouting "Six Hundred Players! Six Hundred Players!"

They are not happy. This should pan out to be very interesting.

Daniel Negreanu is feeling his oats tonight. He rebuked the dealer for giving him big slick, and the very next hand elected to play another hand. He raised preflop from mid position and got a call from the biggest stack at the table, the button. The flop came the Ad kc 4s. Checked by both. When the 2c fell on the turn, more checks. The 3d hit the river and Daniel fired 3K into the middle and got the call. Daniel showed the Ah 9d. His opponent said, good hand and mucked. Daniel is up to 65K. He went into his rendition of how Rocky didn’t think he could beat Apollo Creed in the initial Rocky movie. He said “Rocky told his wife, Andrian he just wanted to go the distance”. Daniel said, “If I go the distance, Im knocking out Apollo!” Lets hold him to it!

Daniel Negreanu was down to 29K and has made a few nice moves to double his stack. Will he make a comeback? According to Daniel “it’s gonna happen…:”

Cecilia Mortensen and Melissa Hayden go head to head. Cecilia pushed it all to the middle with the board showing the Th 9h 5h 8c. Hayden called. Cecilia flipped over the Kh Jh for the second nut flush and Melissa turned over an inferior Qh 5s. She is drawing dead and drops to 54K while Mortensen pumped her stack back to about 45K.

The pot was only 15K and a flop showing Ks Js 4c, Jason Strasser bet 10K at the pot and got a call. The turn came the 6s. Strasser made it 15K this time and he got another call. The Kh on the river provoked Strasser into firing 21K into the middle this time. This time his opponent couldn’t hang and folds. Strasser stacks his newfound chips and is up to about 440K.

A player in mid position raised to 7K, there is a caller and then Paul Wolfe in the big blind reraised to 27K. The middle position player called and we have heads up action. The flop brought the 2hh 4c 9d. Paul Wolfe moved all in for 60K just as the flop barely finished unfolding. The mid position player went to the tank for a really long time, maybe 3 minutes and finally called. Wolfe announced “good call” and turned over the AK. Mid position showed the 77. The turn was a third 7 and Paul Wolfe was drawing dead. Paul Wolfe made his move and it failed. He is out.

Flaminio Malaguti is eliminated when he moves all-in with his last 15K and Dustin Holmes calls. Malaguti presents As Ad, and looks good against Holmes’ Ac Jd. The flop comes Qc Th 9s, and that’s ugly for Malaguti. The turn brings 8s, which is the last nail in Malaguti’s coffin. Holmes wins with the straight, and Malaguti is out. He’s in good spirits though and snaps some photos of both hands and the leader board before leaving the room.

We began the day with about 20 women competing to find their way to that final table in the sky. Donna Skolnick got all in with 32K against Nord Foster. She has Ah Qh and is broken hearted to see Foster flip over the mighty rockets, the Ad As. The flop brought some hope as it arrived the Qd 9h 2h. She now had a pair of queens and the flush draw. The turn was the 6d and the 8c dashed Donna Skolnick’s hopes of remaining in the event. She was a lady as she wished players good luck, gave out a few hugs and proudly left the table. Nord Foster is up to about 200K

Jason Strasser got involved in a really big hand while in the small blind. The big blind exercised his option and raised to 8K. He got a call from strasser. The flop arrived with the 3c Kh 7h. Strasser checked and the BB bet 6K. Over the top to 17K said Strasser. Don’t stop there, the big blind reraised to 40K straight. Strasser called. The turn came the 6c, Strasser checked and the big blind bet 41K. Now this bet sent Strasser to the tank for at least 2 minutes. He finally called. The As was the river card. Checked by both, the big blind showed the T T and Strasser tossed his cards into the muck. This pot was for about 180K.

Dewey Weum has been waiting a long time for the right hand to come along and double him up. Now is the time, when the SB pushes all-in with A 8 and Weum calls with A Q. The board doesn’t improve either player, and Weum doubles through with his Ace high and better kicker. He’s up to about 80K now.

Allen Cunningham and Vinny Iannuzzi saw a flop of the 2c Qc 7s . Vinny, in the cutoff position pushed all in for 21K and Allen, on the button went to the tank for a bit and finally called. Vinny showed the J T and Allen the A 7 for middle pair. The turn came the Td to catapult Vinny into the lead with a bigger pair. The 8c on the end did nada to improve Allen’s pair of sevens and Vinny Iannuzzi doubled through Allen Cunningham.

There's no chasing Humberto Brenes away. We saw a board of the 7c 7s 4s Ad unfolding and in heads up play, we have a battle of the blinds. Brenes is in the small and he made it 2500 to play. The big blind came over the top for another 10K and Brenes wasted no time getting his 10K in the middle. The river came the 8h. Checked by Brenes, the big blind bet 12K and Brenes just called. The big blind showed the 7 9 for trip sevens and Brenes turned over the case 7 with a jack kicker to take the pot. Brenes said that he liked the guy or else he would have put him all in and ended the tournament for him right then and there.
