Play has completed for day 1A.    We are very close to making the 800 mark, if not right on it.  Players are putting their chips in the hermetically sealed bags to be stored away for next week.   Everyone will then go home, have several days to themselves to reflect on todays activities and to create the gameplan from hell.  All the strategy and best laid plans will be developed and ready for implementation.  Should be interesting.

David Levi is on the proverbial rail.

David Levi

Michael  "Grinder" Mizrachi is out.

Mark Voss drops a bundle when he has to release his cards.  He is not in any trouble but will have to work hard to regain his postion.  He is down to 93K.

Gus Hansen is done for WSOP 37.    He pitted pocket sixes against two overcards and the sixes hit a wall.

Gus Hansen

We have lost Chris Bell as well.

So much for the roll Bill Chen was on...it stopped here.  He is out.  Andy Bloch didnt make the cut either.  He has busted.

Andy Bloch

Dutch Boyd found his all in hand, took pocket queens to the max, got called by an A T and of course you know the rest of the story.  Dutch Boyd is gone.

Dutch Boyd

Andy Black is staying alive.  He just recovered a few chips with an AQ and sits with about 25K.

Layne Flack is on a roller coaster ride.  He has been way up, way down and is now on those two loops that will either dump his keys out of his pockets so he will stay forever or leave them in and send him home packing.  He is now up to 45K now .....lets see how it plays out for him tongiht.

Saturday, 29th of July 2006 02:07 AM

Playing for an 11K pot with a board of the 9c 8c 6c 8s 5d, Carlos Mortensen popped it for 4K and suddenly his opponent pushed all in for 21K total Mortensen goes to the tank for bit, and then, folds his hand face up…. The Ah As. The opponent was courteous and revealed the Kc. Mortensen is teetering on the edge of his tournament life at 8K.

Hoyt Corkins shortens the field by busting a player an is up to 65K.

Looks like we lost Matt Matros. Mimi Tran and Avi Freedman are added to the bustout list as well.

Paul McCaffrey has eased into the drivers seat for a bit with 112K. Mark Vos, who has won an event this year already is perched in the second position with 96K.

Saturday, 29th of July 2006 01:45 AM

Down to about 900 players now.

Dutch Boyd makes a daring play and they all fold to him. He picks up the blinds and antes and lives to play some more.

The pot is at 16,500, the flop was the Qh 8s 2c. Andy Black’s opponent pushed all in for 6K and Black makes the value call. Black has the Kc 8d and the opponent the Ac Qc. Oops…not too much value there. The Kd landed on the turn which was great news for Andy, but it was short lived as the Ad hit the river. Andy black is down to 18,600 and will have to make a few big ones to stay in the hunt.

Saturday, 29th of July 2006 01:35 AM

Dutch Boyd called from middle position and the small bind jumped in as well. The big blind checked his option and we saw a flop. The As Td 6c hit the board. Checked around. The turn came the 6h. The small fired a 400 bet at the pot, the big blind passed and Dutch called. With the 2h on the river, the small blind bet 1K, and he got a call from Dutch. The blind showed the 8h 6s for trips and Dutch tossed his hand to the muck. Damage was done and he is down to 3K in chippage.

Mike Erstling is leading it looks like with 100K.

Young Phan is finished.

Saturday, 29th of July 2006 12:50 AM

Looks like the powers that be have decided that we will play one more level before turning in for the night. Players take a little break and return to level 6. The ante is 50 with 200 / 400 blinds.

Oh wow. Minh Nguyen just blinded off. He never showed...and I am here to tell you, there was some miscommunication somewhere, because that is not like him AT ALL.

We should be going at this until breakfast. Looks like we still have over 1100 players in tow.

Perry Friedman says goodbye. So does Joe Barholdi. Perhaps they will be joining the big WSOP party at the VOODOO lounge.

Gus Hansen got his aces cracked. Jennifer Leigh tried like the devil to make her QQ stand up, but was overtaken by a set of deuces. Just not a good day for her today.....

We saw a flop of the Kd Th 4s and Danny Masterson checked from the small blind against one other player. That player, on the button, bet out for 800 and Masterson check raised him to 2K. Button man called. The Qh found the turn. Again, Masterson checked, his opponent bet 2K and Masterson came over him again, (hmmm….) to all in status. And, the button called…..flipping over pocket aces. Masterson had the Kc Js and just like it seems to happen time and time again, he caught the open ender, the 9 and made the straight. He bounced to 20K after that hand.

Friday, 28th of July 2006 10:29 PM

The players are on a short break.

Friday, 28th of July 2006 10:23 PM

Shane Schleger drops some chips when he reraises another player before the flop, and the other player pushes all-in. Schleger looks ok with pocket Q’s, but the other player looks better with pocket K’s. The board comes Jc Tc 2d 4s 8h, which is no help to Schleger. His stack drops to about 17K.

Friday, 28th of July 2006 10:11 PM

There’s a new “chippie” on deck. Mike Ertsling leaps to the top of the leader board when he catches a spade flush with his Ks Kc. His stack is up to about 84K, which puts him ahead of the rest.

Friday, 28th of July 2006 09:58 PM

Both Young Phan and Allen Kessler stay alive after each of them doubles up after pushing all-in against their respective opponents. Phan now has bout 19K and Kessler sits with about 17K.

Friday, 28th of July 2006 09:45 PM

Andy Bloch takes a pot when he cracks his opponent’s AA. The board comes 7h 3d 2s 5h and Bloch checks it. The other player bets $2500 and Bloch calls. The river brings 8d, which gets checked through. Bloch shows 8c 7c, while his challenger flips over Ad Ah. Bloch takes the win with two pair.

Friday, 28th of July 2006 09:36 PM

Lee Watkinson goes to the rail when there’s already 7K in the pot, and the flop shows 6c 3c 2h, Watkinson pushes his whole stack in for about 5.5K. He gets a caller who turns over Tc Td. Watkinson shows 5h 5d. the boards finishes with 3d Ad, and Watkinson busts.

Jennifer “Jennicide” Leigh is one tough cookie.

She showed up almost 6 hours late today, after a misunderstanding, that she in fact was to start today, and not tomorrow. Someone was kind enough to call her and let her know that she was being blinded out. By the time she arrived at about 6:00, her stack was down to around 6K. Being the tenacious player that she is, she has built her stack up to about 9K now.

Friday, 28th of July 2006 09:22 PM

Mark Vos increases his lead when he raises to $900 and gets a call from the BB. The flop comes Qd 6h 3h. Vos bets out $1400, and the other player quickly folds. Vos is up to about 86K.

Friday, 28th of July 2006 09:19 PM

Matthew Lillard is eliminated when he bets $500, and another player raises to $800. Lillard gives a call and the flop comes Jd 9s 8s. The challenger bets $1200 and Lillard calls again. With Qc on the turn Lillard bets 2K and is reraised to 4K. The river brings 6s, coaxing Lillard to push all-in. He’s quickly called and the challenger flips up A Qs, while Lillard shows Kd Qh, for a pair that can’t compete with the flush.

Matthew Lillard

Friday, 28th of July 2006 08:57 PM

“Action” Dan Harrington has gone out. Mike Sexton’e Qh Qc, wins the hand with a higher flush, than Harrington shows.

"Action" Dan Harrington

Friday, 28th of July 2006 08:30 PM

Level 4 has started and the blinds are $100 / $200 with a $25 ante.

DEFINTION OF A BAD BEAT

Jack Mahaling is all in with 5K and is called by one straggler. Jack showed the 8s 8c and the caller the 5h 5c. The flop was horrendous for Jack as it came the 6s 5s 5d giving his opponent the stone cold nuts….quad fives. The turn came the 9s. Ut oh…..NO WAY….Jack is open now to the straight flush….and by golly just like magic, the 7s, a one outer landed on the river to give it to him. Amazing…simply amazing. Take note…this is live play folks, not the internet.

Norman MacDonald and Clonie Gowen bite the dust.

Clonie Gowen

The board read the Ac Kh 9d. There was 4K in the pot and Clonie Gowen made her move all in for 2400. She got a caller who had the As 3s. Gowen had pocket queens, ace magnets as I like to think of them. Nothing every came to help poor Clonie out.

Norm MacDonald

Who thinks this job is easy? Who thinks they might want it? Who I say who in their right mind would do what we do???? I know my family thinks Im nuts!

Try to figure this one out

More players who are "good to go" and have headed out the door are Matt Keikoan and Michael Sullivan.

Mark Vos doubles through Norm Mcdonald...on a flop of 9s Qd Jd...Vos leads out for 2,500...Mcdonald delcares "all in"...Vos thinks briefly and then calls showing QcJc for top two...Mcdonald shows As Ac...the turn and river are blanks and Vos doubles through Mcdonald and now has over 80K

One of our hometown boys is doing very well today. He is up to 19K David Soloman....keep it up...bring it home !

ROFLMAO................

Since Joe Sebok did show up in his robin suit, equipped with the entire costume, including the headband the game is on. Gavin Smith said he wouldn't let him off the hook for "any amount of money." "Not for $100k," said Sebok. Sebok outright asked Smith how much it would cost to get out of the bet, to which Smith replied: "1.5 million"

Sebok turned to a camera, recording the incident, and said: "See you tomorrow!"

Two unknown players were involved in a hand. The flop held J-J-A. One player pushed all in for about $16k, with the other playing only having about $2100 . After he thinks about it for a long time, David Levi, sitting to his immediate left, pulls out a giant wad of cash (about $8,000) and says: "If you call that bet and you're right, this money is yours."

The guy still folded.

Levi says then to the all-in bettor: "If you show a bluff, that money is yours." The thing is, doesn't that constitute influencing a hand when you're not involved. No players at the table made any comments about it, and neither did a dealer or floor person.
