The bubble is just around the corner, so round for round play has started until the bubble bursts. Bobby Boyd bets to $2400, UTG. The next player to act, pushes all-in with $6500. Bill Gazes requests a count, then he reraises to 12K. Everyone folds to Gazes. The all-in raiser turns over Qs Qh, and Gazes shows Ks Kd. The flop comes Js 7s 4d. When the board shows Kh 7d 5s Qs, there’s already 10K in the pot, and Barny Boatman pushes all-in with $10,700. Schleger calls and turns over Q 6. Boatman has pocket 9’s. The river brings 6d, giving Schleger 2 pair, while eliminating Barny Boatman. Schleger leaps to the top of the board with a 90Kish stack.

The mid-position player folds, but the button player calls all-in. Matusow turns over Ks Kd and his challenger shows Ac Kc. The board comes Qh Ts 3c 5s 9c. This doesn’t improve the challenger, and Matusow scoops the pot. He’s up to about 60K now. Sunday, 23rd of July 2006 10:58 PM James Van Alstyne builds his stack by cracking Aces.
