On the last hand of the day Harry Demetriou hit a second pair on the river with A 4 to eliminate Harold Cohen in 7th place ($48,507). The televison final table us set in the $2,500 six-player short-handed no-limit hold'em event (#21). It looks like Mike Guttman will have about a 3 to 2 chip lead over Harry Demetriou when play resumes tomorrow afternoon at 2 PM Pacific Time. Guttman finished second in event #16 earlier this week. Nath Pizzolatto is the short stack with approximately 100,000 chips.

Mike Guttman raised to 25,000 from the button with A K and was re-raised all in by Don Mullis holding A 7. No help came along. Mullis earned $33,189. for the 10th spot. On the same hand on the other table Gregg Merkow headed to the rail after Alex Bolotin flopped trip jacks with A J and a board of J J 5 6 2. 9th place paid $38,295. Peter Jetten was eliminated in 8th place ($43,401) when his K T was beaten by a diamond flush on the river, the same card that completed his straight.

Bill Lewis got tangled up with the chip leader, Harry Demetriou, and it spelled doom for him. The ever-aggressive Demetriou raised to 30,000 with 7-7. Lewis re-raised with A-9 offsuit and Lewis called. The board was J-T-8-6-8 and Demetriou's pocket pair held up. 11th place paid $28,083.

Michael Bickel was shown the door by Peter Jetten who moved all in with A 7 and was called by Jetten's A 9. The widow cards of J 9 3 9 4 married Jetten's hand and Bickel had to be satisfied with 12th place money ($23,828).

A redraw was held for seats at the final two six-handed tables. Level 15 has started. Blinds are 2,500/5,000 with 500 ante.

Terris Preston made his final stand with A-T and found himself dominated by Willam Chen's big slick. The board brought no relief. Preston was awarded $20,424 for his 13th place result. Chen moved up to 285,000 chips on the hand.

Tai Nguyen was eliminated in 14th place earning $17,871 for his efforts. He went all in with A-7 and was called by Bill Lewis with pocket nines.

Jordan Morgan left the field in 15th place good enough for a payout of $16,169. Level 13 has ended and the 100 chips will be colored up before beginning the next level with blinds of 2,000/4,000 plus 500 ante. Approximate Chip Counts: 1. Harry Demetriou 300,000; 2. Mike Guttman 250,000; 3.Harold Cohen 210,000; 4.Bill Lewis 200,000; 5.Dan Hicks 180,000; 6.Tai Nguyen 135,000. The short stack is Terris Preston (25,000). Play will be adjourned for the evening after eight more players are eliminated. But first there will be a 90 minute dinner break from 6:30 to 8:00 PM.

The $14,467 prize for 16th place went to Phil Gordon. Gordon re-raised Harry Demetriou all in from the small blind with T 7. Demetriou had raised pre-flop each of the previous three hands. This time Demetriou was holding Q Q. Demetriou has improved his stack to more than 220,000.

Karlo Lopez busted out in 17th place winning $12,765. Peter Jetten bet 7,000 after a flop of 6 4 3 and Lopez raised all in on a semi bluff with A 5 for an open ended straight draw with an overcard. Jetten called, correctly believing he was in the lead. Neither the turn card K nor the river T changed the outcome.

Rohit Chopra moved all-in before the flop with K 8 for his final 7,600 chips. He was called by Karlo Lopez. Then Gregg Merkow pushed his stack toward the middle with K Q. Lopez folded and Markow prevailed after J 7 6 3 T. Chopra finished 18th and was awarded $11,063.

The third stack, Bill Lewis, doubled through the second stack, Tai Nguyen, to become king of the mountain. Lewis, with K Q, conquered Nguyen's J T on a board full of paints K Q T T K with the better full house.

Phil Galfond busted in 22nd place, also earning $8,085. Robert Durant doubled up with pocket nines when he hit his set on the flop.

Phil Gordon was able to double through the chip leader Guttman. Gordon was dealt A A and Guttman called with A K. The board was K 8 3 8 5. The exchange moved Gordon up to nearly $70,000 and put Guttman back to 220,000, still good enough for the lead. Tai Nguyen is second with just over 200,000.

MIke Guttman has increased his chip stack to 216,000. Dan Hicks has moved into second position with 145,000. William Chen and Harry Demetriou each have approximately 130,000. Guttman made the final table of Event #16 earlier this week, finishing second to Lee Watkinson and winning $360,659.

The tallest stack with five tables remaining is Mike Guttman (137,000). Bill Lewis (135,000) and Tai Nguyen (120,000) are next. Level 12 will increase the blinds and antes by 50% to 1,200/2,400 and 300.

Corey Cheresnick was crippled when he allowed Jason Sagle to double up. A few hands later Cheresnick went out in 34th place ($8,085). The blinds come around more quickly at the short handed tables. That, combined with the escalating dead money in the middle to start each hand, should increase the action as we proceed. $8,085 will be paid to all places down to 19th. Other departures:

Liwell went out with K T against A T and K 2. Karlo Lopez, who had moved all in pre-flop with the underdog hand, nearly tripled up when the board revealed A 3 2 8 K making two pair on the river.

Mike Spiegel was eliminated in 37th place. ($5,957). His A J was beaten by Jordan Morgan's pocket queens. Anselmo Villarreal (36th place) and Aleksander Strandli (35th place) both received $8,085 for their efforts.

Ralph Levine was busted in 38th Place for $5,957. Tai Nguyen has increased his stack to 120,000.

We are at Level 11 with 800/1,600 blinds and 200 antes. Short stack Kristian Liwell went all in with K-T and was called by Nath Pizzolatto with 5-5. A king came on the board to allow Liwell to double through.
