Weikai Chang finished in 2nd place, earning $207,100. He played a very tough game!

Darrell "Gigabet" Dicken finished in 1st place, earning $372,780.  He also gets the gold and diamond WSOP Circuit Championship Ring and an entry to the 2006 Tournament of Champions.

Wednesday, 08th of March 2006 02:52 AM

Darrell moved all in from the button; Weikai called and showed KJ offsuit. He was ahead of Darrell's K8 offsuit. The flop was AAA and the turn was a King creating a split pot. River was a useless Jack.

Wednesday, 08th of March 2006 02:48 AM

On a flop of 6 3 T both players checked. Turn was the 7 ; both players checked. River was the Q putting 4 clubs on the board. Weikai bet 80,000. Darrell moved all in -- Weikai folded. This left Weikai with about 280,000.

Wednesday, 08th of March 2006 02:45 AM

Weikai has about 440,000; Darrell has about 650,000. Darrell looks just like he did 12 hours ago when this final table started at 2pm, but Weikai is starting to show some wear.

Wednesday, 08th of March 2006 02:41 AM

Huge hand...Weikai called from the button and Darrell checked. Flop was 773 - both checked. Turn was Ace . Darrell bet 30,000. Weikai looked like he was about to muck, but then he called. River was J . Darrell bet 50,000 and Weikai called. Darrell had a J for Jacks up. Weikai mucked his hand.

Wednesday, 08th of March 2006 02:34 AM

On a board of QT948, Weikai bet 100,000. Darrell called and showed a Ten for a pair of tens. Weikai had 76 for the ten-high straight and he doubled through. He's up to about 490,000 to Darrell's 600,000.

Wednesday, 08th of March 2006 02:28 AM

With TT555 (tens full of fives) on the board, Weikai moved all in. Darrell called. They're both playing the board and split the pot.

Wednesday, 08th of March 2006 02:20 AM

Weikai raised and Darrell moved all in. Weikai called and showed pocket 8s. Darrell had A7 offsuit and although he flopped a 7, Weikai's pair of 8s held up and he doubled through. Can't kill the Cockroach!  Weikai is over 300,000 now.

Wednesday, 08th of March 2006 02:17 AM

Weikai has lost some ground to Darrell. He's got about 185,000.

Wednesday, 08th of March 2006 02:10 AM

Considering the hour, this is a very well attended final table. There are still at least 30 spectators watching this action.

We're back to all-in/fold play at this point.

Wednesday, 08th of March 2006 01:51 AM

We finally got an all-in called. Darrell had A8 of diamonds; Weikai had A5 offsuit. Flop came 52J giving Weikai the lead. That's all he needed and he doubled through. Can't kill the Cockroach!

That hand put Weikai up to about 450,000 leaving Darrell with about 650,000.

Wednesday, 08th of March 2006 01:45 AM

We've now moved into level 19 with 3,000 antes, 10,000/20,000 blinds. It has been all-in poker since getting heads up. Someone moves in and the other folds.

Wednesday, 08th of March 2006 01:37 AM

Heads up - Cash on the table

The big bucks are now piled on the table and play has resumed.

Wednesday, 08th of March 2006 01:21 AM

Weikai moved in and Darrell called with 87 offsuit. Weikai showed T6 offsuit. The flop came T72 giving Weikai top pair. Darrell did not catch any of his outs and Weikai doubled through.

They have stopped the clock to bring in the prize money. There is 7:51 left in this level.

Weikai has 170,000 and Darrell has about 900,000.

Wednesday, 08th of March 2006 01:16 AM

At the beginning of heads up play, Weikai had about 95,000 in chips, which means Darrell has about a million.

Wednesday, 08th of March 2006 01:10 AM

Kathy Liebert - 3rd place

Kathy moved all in on the button. Weikai, who had a couple thousand more, also moved in. Darrell called. Kathy was ahead with KJ offsuit; Weikai had K7 offsuit, and Darrell had JT offsuit. Unfortunately, the board came 7252Q and Weikai won the pot and tripled up.

Kathy Leibert finished in third place, earning $113,905.

Wednesday, 08th of March 2006 12:57 AM

Gary Lent - 4th place

Gary moved all in from the button - for 175,000. Darrell called from the big blind and showed pocket 4s. Gary had AK of diamonds. The board came 862Q5 and Gary was eliminated in 4th place.

Gary Lent finished in 4th place, earning $82,840.

Darrell has a huge chip lead over the remaining two players. He's moved all in on the last two hands and taken the blinds and antes.

Wednesday, 08th of March 2006 12:41 AM

Gary raised to 50,000 from the button. Darrell moved all in from the big blind -- he had Gary covered. Gary took several minutes considering his action, then folded. Darrell extends his chip lead.

Wednesday, 08th of March 2006 12:38 AM

Kathy moved her last 65,000 all in from the button. Both blinds folded and she picked up 32,000 in blinds and antes.

Wednesday, 08th of March 2006 12:33 AM

Weikai moved all in from the small blind. Darrell (big blind) asked for a count - it was 73,000 more to him and he called. Weikai had AT offsuit and Darrell had Q3 of diamonds. The board came 45685 and Weikai's Ace was good for a double up. Cockroach rules!

Wednesday, 08th of March 2006 12:16 AM

Darrell raised to 48,000. Kathy moved all in and Darrell called. Darrell was behind with AQ of spades to Kathy's AK offsuit. But the flop changed everything when it came AQT, giving Darrell two pair. No King or Jack for Kathy - running threes gave her two smaller pair and Darrell doubled up to about 571,000, leaving Kathy with about 130,000.

Wednesday, 08th of March 2006 12:10 AM

Yes, it's after midnight and there are still four players left. Play has resumed with 8,000/16,000 blinds and 2,000 antes.

Tuesday, 07th of March 2006 11:59 PM

Darrell raised from the small blind. Kathy re-raised another 100,000 from the big blind and Darrell folded.

Gary LentRiverside, CA227,000

The Cockroach lives. Gary and Weikai saw the flop of 29A. Gary bet 25,000 and Weikai moved all in. Gary called and showed A2 for two pair. Weikai held T9 of clubs for one pair and was behind. The turn was a useless 8...but the river was a NINE! Weikai survived elimination again with trip nines.

Tuesday, 07th of March 2006 11:43 PM

Kathy gives up some chips. She raised to 41,000 from the small blind and Gary called from the big blind. Both players checked the flop of J73. When the T fell on the turn, Kathy checked and Gary bet 60,000. Kathy folded and Gary scooped the pot.

Phil Miller - Dealer Coordinator

The Vice President, Dick Cheney, just stopped by to see what's taking so long. Oh, wait a minute, that's Phil Miller, the Dealer Coordinator who has been riding herd on all the dealers during this 12 day tournament series. Well done, Phil!

Tuesday, 07th of March 2006 11:16 PM

They've been playing four-handed for over five hours. Weikai is officially now the 'Cockroach' -- the short stack that they cannot get rid of. He has fought hard all day to stay in this tournament and should be very proud of his play no matter where he finishes.

Tuesday, 07th of March 2006 11:11 PM

Weikai moved all in from the button. Kathy (big blind) asked for a count and it was 82,000 more to her. She considered her action for quite a while before folding. Weikai showed one card, the Ace of hearts.

Tuesday, 07th of March 2006 10:49 PM

Big action! Darrell raised from the button to 36,000. Gary (big blind) re-raised to 100,000. Darrell moved all in and it is another 106,000 to Gary to call -- which he does. Darrell shows AJ of clubs; Gary shows A7 of hearts. The board comes 626AJ, giving Darrell a bigger two pair and the win -- Darrell is again our chip leader with over 400,000.

Tuesday, 07th of March 2006 10:29 PM

End of Level 16. Players are on a break. Here are the current chip counts:

NameHometownChip Count
Gary LentRiverside, CA414,000
Kathy LiebertLas Vegas, NV277,000
Darrell "Gigabet" DickenWaterloo IA241,000
Weikai ChangAlbany, CA158,000

When play resumes in about 10 minutes, Blinds will be 6,000/12,000 with 1,000 ante. Before the break, Kathy offerred to buy a round of drinks -- for everyone, including the audience! Since this is California, there are no free (alcohol) drinks, so that's quite an offer. Needless to say, someone hunted down a server very quickly and she started taking orders (that's Diet Coke, for me, thank you).

Final Four do battle

These final four are still at it. Gary raised on the button to 30,000 and Weikai and Darrell both called. The flop was 49T with two clubs. Weikai checked, Darrell bet 60,000 and Gary came over the top for another 100,000. Both other players folded and Gary picked up a big pot.

Tuesday, 07th of March 2006 10:11 PM

In three-way action, on a flop of T24, Weikai goes all in for another 43,000. Kathy and Gary BOTH call and check down the turn and river, which were a 5 and a 4. Gary shows KJ for King high... Kathy shows AQ for Ace high...and the drum rolls as Weikai turns over a 6...then another 6! His pair of sixes wins the pot and he's back over 200,000.

John Sebastian & Jimmy Sommerfeld

Here's our tournament director Jimmy Sommerfeld talking to John Sebastian, Director of Table Games here at Harrah's. They've done a great job keeping things running smoothly during this WSOP Circuit Event.

Tuesday, 07th of March 2006 09:56 PM

Darrell called, Kathy called, Gary folded his small blind, then Weikai woke everyone up when he moved all in from the big blind. Of course everyone folded, so Weikai takes the pot without seeing any cards.

Tuesday, 07th of March 2006 09:46 PM

Kathy raised to 30,000 and Gary came over the top for another 50,000. Both blinds folded and Kathy did, too.

Tuesday, 07th of March 2006 09:40 PM

We haven't seen a flop for a while - someone raises and everyone folds. Weikai has lost some ground and is down to about 80,000. All the rest have over 300,000 and Darrell is still in the lead.

Tuesday, 07th of March 2006 09:32 PM

If it seems like things have slowed down, they have. Either the players are logy after their steak dinners, or they've realized that even the short stack has about 20 times the big blind so there's no one they can push around.

Tuesday, 07th of March 2006 09:12 PM

At the end of the level, the gray 500 chips were colored up and raced off. Here are the chips counts:

NameHometownChip Count
Darrell "Gigabet" DickenWaterloo, IA350,000
Gary LentRiverside, CA333,000
Kathy LiebertLas Vegas, NV249,000
Weikai ChangAlbany, CA148,000

Play has resumed in level 16 with 1,000 ante, 4,000/8,000 blinds.

Tuesday, 07th of March 2006 09:00 PM

Gary takes a big pot from Darrell. Gary raised from the buton and Darrell called from the Big blind. Both players checked the flop of . The turn was the and both players checked. The river was the pairing the board. Darrell checked and Gary bet 47,000. After a few moments of thought, Darrell called and Gary showed for the Ace high straight. Darrell mucked his hand.

Tuesday, 07th of March 2006 08:42 PM

Play has resumed after the dinner break. Before resumption of play, Jimmy Sommerfeld and John Bastarache did an official chip count, so I've updated the previous entry with the official numbers.  We're still at 500 ante, 3,000/6,000 blinds for another 20 minutes.

Tuesday, 07th of March 2006 06:57 PM

Well, with a little more than 20 minutes left in the round, the final four decided they were ready for dinner, so the dinner break is taking place early. Dinner break is 90 minutes, so play should resume about 8:30pm.

Here are some more accurate chip counts:

NameHometownChip Count
Darrell "Gigabet" DickenWaterloo, IA413,500
Gary LentRiverside, CA269,000
Kathy LiebertLas Vegas, NV227,500
